Tasu February 2019 "Love Yourself" Review
Tasu includes a card describing the monthly theme. On the reverse is a list of what's included with retail values. This month's theme is "Love Yourself".
Let's dive in!
Rose Clay Face Mask, 2 fl oz.— Retail Value $18.0 ($24.00 CAD)
You guys know I avoid clay masks because my skin is basically a bone dry desert, but even I can't resist a mask with pieces of rose petals! This pink clay mask is chunky but in a really good way! It feels so nice on my skin and smells like a total dream. You can always thin this formula down with a little water if you prefer a more sleek liquid mask. I like that you can see this mask change color as it dried, so you know when it is time to wash it off (about 10 minutes for me). It was drying, but clay always is on my skin, so I recommend following up with a heavy-duty moisturizer if you have skin like mine.
Remixed Snacks Bean Bark, 40 g — Retail Value $3.73 ($5.00 CAD)
This was a pretty interesting treat. This bark is made of dark chocolate covered dried beans and dried fruit. I love natural snacks, but this one was a miss for me because some of those beans were just so stinking hard to chew! It kind of felt like eating gravel covered in delicious dark chocolate. I feel like this snack is likely good for my insides, but not so much for my poor teeth.
Konjac Sponge— Listed Value $7.45 ($10.00 CAD)
This is probably the largest konjac sponge I have ever owned, and I only want big ones from now on. If you are unfamiliar with these, they feel hard and airy when they are dry, but get them wet and they turn into this dense sponge with a pretty unique texture. They are all natural and biodegradable, making them a superior choice over your typical facial sponge! They have a texture that does provide some gentle exfoliation, and you can use them with water alone or with your fave cleanser.
Tasu Nourish Shampoo, 4 fl oz - Listed Value $8.94 ($12.00 CAD)
I am much pickier about shampoos than I should be, but I like a really deep clean and I only use shampoo on my roots. This shampoo smelled like coconuts but not in a beachy way, and did a good job of making my hair feel clean and healthy. It lathered well and was easy to rinse from my hair. I generally prefer a little less nourishing, and a little more deep cleaning, but if your hair needs extra care, you will like this shampoo and its natural ingredient list.
Tasu Nourish Conditioner, 4 fl oz — Listed Value $8.94 ($12.00 CAD)
I liked this conditioner much more than the shampoo. I only condition the ends of my hair and this formula was creamy and made my ends feel like silk. It had the same coconut scent as the shampoo, but it just left a hint behind in my hair, so if that smell isn't your favorite this will still be a great choice for your strands.
The Verdict: Tasu always has unique products, and this month came with a really great mask, incredibly useful sponge, and a shampoo + conditioner set. This box always sends along formulas made in-house, making it a really fun sub to get if you like trying out all natural products that you can't find anywhere else. The downside is that they often are not for sale in the Tasu shop, so don't get too attached. The only real dud for me this round was the bean bark, which was, quite frankly, hard to eat. The shampoo and conditioner are a great pair for travel, the rose clay mask feels like pure, natural luxury, and I love a good konjac sponge. This box has a listed value of $45.46 USD ($61 CAD) and that is an okay value for a $34.44 USD (with shipping) box.
