Ulta The Glow Up Kit Review
The back of the box had information about the products included.
We also received a $5 off coupon!
NARS Blush in Orgasm, 0.12 oz – Estimated Value $22.50 (buy the full-size version for $30)
This blush is a cult classic for a reason, and I am stoked that we got such a generous size (about three-fourths the size of the full-size version). If you like this blush, we're already over the cost of the box and we are on the first item. This pinky-peach blush with golden shimmer should work for a variety of skin tones, and I love that it can be applied lightly for just a hint of color.
Laura Geller Dewdreamer Illuminating Drops in Gilded Honey, Full-Size! - Retail Value $32 (found on sale here for $22.40)
This liquid illuminizer is a caramel honey shade, and the watery texture means this can be blended into your moisturizer or foundation for added glow. Of course, you can use it as a highlighter on its own, and I enjoyed how easy it was to blend while giving a natural glow.
LORAC Light Source 3-in-1 Illuminating Primer in Dusk, 0.33 oz – Estimated Value $11.67 (buy the full-size version for $35)
I was surprised by how much I loved this- I am seriously considering buying the full-size! Using this bronze shimmery primer underneath my tinted moisturizer gave me an absolute glow, but it didn't look too fake on my pale skin. This can also be worn as a highlighter or mixed into your heavier foundation, but I think this really shines (pun intended) under a light coverage foundation or BB cream.
Here are the Laura Geller drops, the Nars blush, and the Lorac primer swatched. I blended the drops and the primer out a little bit to show you the colors are more wearable than they look, but they can definitely be blended out even more
BECCA First Light Priming Filter, 0.5 oz – Retail Value $21
Here is another primer that looks amazing under light-coverage foundation! The lavender-pearl complex brightens dull skin while minimizing imperfections, making your skin look like you got 8 hours of sleep even if you only got 4. I love Becca, and this primer is one that works well under both light coverage and heavier coverage foundations (though the brightening effect can be masked if you go full-coverage).
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $7.50 (buy the 1 oz version for $15)
This cult-favorite setting spray sets your makeup and makes it stay. I love using this in the humid Louisiana summers because without a good setting spray I am wasting makeup due to how quickly it will melt off. This is one of the better setting sprays I have tried, and I am always happy to have more samples (especially because I can't bring myself to pay the price for the full-size version).
Julep Boost Your Radiance Reparative Rosehip Seed Facial Oil, 0.14 oz – Estimated Value $5.04 (buy the 1 oz version for $36)
The ingredient list on this oil is fabulous - rosehip seed oil, bergamot oil, Vitamin E, and shea butter ethyl esters. I thought this was a great night time oil, but it would probably be a little too heavy for morning use unless you have dry skin. I also love adding drops of facial oils to my moisturizer at night, and another way to use them is by adding a few drops to your face mask to keep them from drying out your skin (if it is a clay mask) and adding extra moisture.
Here I am trying to use as many items from the box as I could! I used the Lorac primer under my tinted moisturizer, and then I added the Nars blush to the apples of my cheeks. I used the Laura Geller drops as my eyeshadow and along the high points of my cheekbones, and I set everything with the Urban Decay setting spray. Other than that, I used my own lipstick (from an upcoming Kokobox review!), mascara, and eyebrow gel. I literally was glowing, and I loved it.
The Verdict: I think this is my favorite set from Ulta that I have tried- I really enjoyed all of these products! I thought the sizes were generous, and it included a great mix of new-to-me products and cult classics. Plus, three different samples were worth more than the cost of the box by themselves. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $99.71, which is a bit insane (and awesome!).
