ZaaBox “My Heart Is Yours…” February 2019 Review
Enclosed in the box is an info card describing the products and the product ingredients.
Each month the founder Mr. Strong sends a handwritten note. Thank you for all your comments regarding the handwritten notes and the response from Mr. Strong.
Demoseà Rosé Multi-Purpose Oil, 2oz – Retail Value $25.00
This product is found on the website as a multi-purpose serum and is stated on the info card as well; the bottle I received has multi-purpose oil inscribed on the bottle. Upon further investigation the ingredients on the bottle and their website match. I wanted to bring this minor detail to your attention.
Now on to the product ingredients and features. The rose oil is infused with rose petals and has safflower oil, grapeseed oil, argan oil, hempseed oil, sunflower oil, and essentials oils. The oil intends to hydrate my skin from the plant-based oils that seal in moisture, revitalizes my skin by decreasing any fine lines, wrinkles, or dark circles that may appear on my face, and strengthen and improve my skin’s elasticity from the argan oil. I used the oil on my face and body and it left my skin moisturized and my face glistening. A few drops did the trick as I massaged into my skin and added extra drops to drier areas of my body. There was no greasy residue on my skin.
Kisse Girl Bath Bomb – Estimated Value $10.00
Unfortunately, this product was not found on their website, I only found two products which was odd. I have used bath bombs before and always opted to use as a foot soak, so I decided to take a hot soak. The rose aroma was intoxicating and it yielded a handful of bubbles. It was a relaxing bath but nothing special except for the rose aroma.
Demoseà Shower Balm, 3oz – Retail Value $11.95
This is a unique take on the in-shower body lotion, but instead of lotion, I received a nourishing moisturizing balm that was ineffective. It's enriched with shea butter, mango butter, and cocoa butter, to name a few. The balm didn’t glide on to my skin, and as I rubbed the balm on my leg, the product didn’t adhere to my leg. I had to press the balm on my leg in an up and down motion and only small amounts dispersed to my skin and weren’t able to get the effects. This was a bust.
Aloe + Honey by The Facial Bar Coconut Butter Balm – Estimated Value $20.00
This coconut butter balm melted into my skin and has a light aroma of the coconut which was not overpowering.
Phillip Ashley Chocolates - Estimated Value $10.00 ( buy a 12-piece box for $49)
I received a small box with two heart-shaped dark chocolates in the flavor red velvet cake. The center is a dark chocolate cream that had an intense flavor. I didn’t detect the red velvet flavor. It wasn’t my favorite. The chocolate is handcrafted in small batches using the finest ingredients with fair trade chocolate. I didn’t find this particular set of chocolate on their website, so the value is an estimate.
The Verdict: As usual this month’s box products will get used in my daily bath routine and leave my skin soft and moisturized. I’m encouraged and feel pampered monthly as well as blushing from the handwritten note from Mr. Strong that’s included monthly. Subscribers can opt out the note or have a toned down version of the note.
This month’s $76.95 value is slightly higher than previous boxes. This month’s box was lackluster and all the products were geared for my body with the exception of the oil/serum that can be used on my face and body. It would have been nice to have rose petals lined the box and more pampering products to indulge in for Valentine’s Day - maybe perfume, a sexy lip gloss, or body glitter. I would love to receive more facial products and lifestyle items geared towards their monthly theme or season, such as the holiday-themed products that I received in my December box. Overall, a decent box with future potential to continue to bring me more black-owned brands and to seek out and curate upcoming, must-have products for women of color.
