Bombay & Cedar "Blossom" Review
The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands. The theme this month is 'Blossom' and I am so here for spring things!
Blossom Essential Oil Blend, 10 ml - Listed Value $24.00
Lemongrass Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $12.00
This bloom blend smells like a medicinal version of spring. It has lavender, ylang ylang, lemon, mandarin, and palmarosa oils. It is a great blend for some spring cleaning! Lemongrass is always a great choice for your diffuser, with its green aroma. Lemongrass is one of those oils you can mix with anything and it compliments! Try it with cedar and orange.
Purple Heirloom Potato Chips by Jackson's Honest, 1.2 oz - Listed Value $1.29 (Buy 5 oz pouches for $3.49)
I love purple potatoes. Whenever I see them at the grocery store I buy them, because I love freaking my husband out by serving purple mashed potatoes for dinner. These crunchy chips were really good! Salty enough to satisfy an afternoon craving, eating something that is such a pretty color is always fun. These are made with coconut oil which gives them a slightly different taste than traditional chips, but I really liked them.
Floral Sun Shade Umbrella - Listed Value $12.00
I like that this umbrella is a subdued black on the outside, but inside is a hidden red flower blossom just for me. I am always losing my umbrellas (or giving them away to grandmas) so I like that this was included this month, especially since we have been going through that spring shower weather mode here in PA. What I didn't love about this umbrella is that it doesn't have a button, but rather you have to manually pull the shaft apart to open it and then crunch it down to close. It is still very pretty and at the rate I go through umbrellas I am glad to see it in a box. Different flower designs were sent across boxes, so yours might look different than mine.
Creme Nail Polish by Deco Miami in Coco, 14.8 ml - Retail Value $12.00
I feel like pure white is one of those colors you have to have nice nails to really pull off well. This means that this color is surely not for me! I will say that this formula is opaque in 2 coats and went on very smooth. It is made with coconut oil, is 8 free, cruelty-free, and vegan. I would have preferred maybe a pink or red, but I do see a ton of white manis in the spring and summer, so a lot of people will be happy with this! As far as I can tell, different shades were sent across boxes, so you might end up with a different shade.
On my small nails, this just looks like whiteout. Meh.
Deco Miami Crystal Nail File - Retail Value $8.50
I love crystal nail files because they are effective and make me feel very fancy. This one is pretty enough to leave in your pen holder at work to have close by. It comes in a protective little sheath so you can keep it safe when not in use.
Lip Creme by Jaiden Madison in 'Scandalous' - Retail Value $20.00
Let me start out by saying that this formula has lanolin in it, so it is absolutely not a vegan product. I really like lanolin formulas because they lock in moisture. There s a little bit of an aftertaste with lanolin products which might take some getting used to. This shade is really pretty, a deep sheer bricky wine with shimmer. It works well on its own or as a topper to your favorite lipstick. I loved it alone for a natural flush of color on my lips.
The sheer color should work with most skin tones easily!
Shine by Compendium Book - Retail Value $14.95
I admittedly do not like quote coffee table books like this. I just don't ever display them or read them. This book might be a good gift for a bookish friend who needs a little encouragement. It has 64 pages of simplistic illustrations and small quotes about letting your individuality shine.
Touchland Hand Sanitizer, 1.3 fl oz - Retail Value $11.95
I was looking forward to this product, but sadly I received a berry scent and I really can't stand artificial berry smells. With over 500 sprays in this super cute spray package, I would be more than willing to add another one of the scents to my purse, but sadly this particular smell is nothing I can use. It is worth noting that this hand sanitizer is packed with ingredients that both sanitize and moisturize your hands, so it is a total upgrade to most of the bare bones sanitizers out there.
Indoor Garden Grow Kit by ModSprout - Retail Value $25.00
There was a chance between getting this grow kit and a wax melt plugin and I was so rooting to get this! I am an avid gardener, and I love little kits like this that make growing plants indoors especially easy. This kit came with literally everything you need to start growing mint in a self-watering a super chic container. The inside of the white glass container is a water reservoir, and the plants themselves grow in a much smaller internal compartment. There is actually very little dirt involved here and all of it comes compressed into a little puck that expands with water. The bands that reach down into the water keep your seedlings happy, hydrated, and low maintenance. I am so excited for my little mint babies to start sprouting!
Here my kit is all set up near a window, surrounded by (of course) tons of crystals.
Verdict: Ths month's Bombay & Cedar box has a really great retail value of around $141.69, which is great for a $57 box ($49.95 plus $6.95 shipping), but for me, some of the products were misses or just okay this month. I totally realize this is very subjective! I really adored the grow kit and the lip gloss, as well as the chip snack and consistently good essential oils. The umbrella will get used and was a decent addition. The book, hand sanitizer, and nail polishes were duds for me, though perhaps in a different color or scent they might have been winners. I do feel pretty happy with the box overall though, and I will say that this is one I always look forward to receiving! Even the items I am not crazy about will make cute little gifts, and the favorite items for me were awesome.
