Now, on to the items!

Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam - Retail Value $26

I had always associated highlighters with shimmer, so this shimmer-free highlighter definitely intrigued me!

This goes on pale pink with a completely matte finish. It's a very subtle effect - great for a no-makeup makeup look. But here's where it gets interesting - I tried it as an undereye concealer and OMG! No creasing, color-corrected my dark circles, stayed put all day and was the perfect based to just apply a little CC cream over. I definitely recommend trying this under your eyes!

Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette - Retail Value $27

This is my first Huda Beauty palette, and no surprise - the formulas are impressive. Great pigment, easy to blend, minimal fallout, and a good mix of shimmers and mattes.

Here is the palette swatched beneath the Shy Beam highlighter:

Pixi by Petra LashLift 188 in Beyond Black - Retail Value $18

This mascara has such a unique wand design. Inside the standard wand is a super thin one for precision application.

The design is smart and allows for easy application on the lower lashline. Unfortunately, the formula wasn't perfect for me. I had issues with the formula clumping and while having two wands helped a bit with that, it wasn't enough to make this a mascara I would buy in the future. (Looking at reviews online though, I feel like I'm the only person who didn't love this formula, so I definitely recommend trying it if you received it.)

Purlisse Blue Lotus Balancing Moisturizer - Retail Value $45

This is one of my favorite items in the box. It's lightweight, hydrating, absorbs quickly, and smells lovely! You can use it day and night, and it's perfect pre-makeup.

F.A.R.A.H. Brushes 5-Piece Eye Perfection Set - Estimated Value $35

I love getting makeup brushes from ipsy - especially to go with a new eye shadow palette!

This set is made with soft, synthetic bristles, and a metallic silver finish. Pretty brushes that get the job done = I'm happy!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $151. I think that's incredible for a $25 box that sends only full-size items! The only thing that was a miss for me in this box was the mascara. Everything else is great, and the Benefit Shy Beam is a game-changer for my undereye circles! (That item is worth the cost of the box alone for me!)

Liz, I bought the Shy Beam based on this review…this is a game changer for me! I have battled dark circles for years, trying every concealer, cream & serum I could find. Just a few dots of this followed up by my normal concealer or cc cream & my dark circles have vanished for the day. Thank you so much for the tip!

Yay! So glad to hear it! Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

Instead of the mascara I got the RealHer lippie. (i have rated everything Pixi as low as they allow, so glad I didn’t get it) When I first saw my reveal I was sad about the Shy beam. Then in a fb group, someone was saying it was great to brighten up under eyes. I, too, have dark circles. This stuff is GREAT for it! I’m thrilled to have received it! I love the Huda (mauve) palette also, but haven’t tried the glittery shades yet. (keep reading about fallout with those)

GBP is doing a great job with the variety of items, variety of brands and high quality products!

I can’t wait to try out the Shy Beam as a concealer! I light it for subtle highlight, but prefer my highlighters to have some shimmer.

I also stumbled across using the Benefit under my concealer and it is so much better than any of the peach toned undereye products I’ve tried. I am hating the Huda mauve palette though. I’m getting fallout from the shimmers, there’s not a good transition shade so I can’t get a good look with just the palette, and the shimmers just disappear and I’m not going to use eyeshadow wet as part of my morning routine. I usually use a cream shadow as a base (not a Mac paintpot, just a stick). I keep seeing glowing reviews, so I have to think I’m doing something wrong?

I only use my finger for the shimmers. Brushes for the others and tap well before, but fingers for all shimmers. Glue or glitter primer works well and finish with a setting spray. I love my Huda palettes. I got one and bought two more as add ons. I hope we get more shades.

I feel the same way about the Huda palette. The shimmers had major fallout, even with a wet brush and they didn’t even stay on my eyes for half a day. 🙁

Andrea

I found there was a lot of fallout from the shimmer shades also. I used really good eyeshadow primer and it helped the shimmers stay in place all day, even through a workout!

Oh, I am so jealous. I would love to get upgraded to Ipsy Plus. I’m def going to Sephora to try out the the Benefit as concealer.

I actually like the mascara. I haven’t experienced any clumping at all.

So I went to log into Ipsy app last night and got a pop up asking if I wanted only the GBP or both bags. I clicked on both bags of coarse and it gave me this message:
YOU’RE NOT A GLAM BAG PLUS MEMBER!
Since we just launched, we have very limited quantities, but will add more spots over time. Stay tuned for updates!

I now have the option to view both bags at the top of my app. Does this mean that I’m on the waitlist now? Does anyone know how the upgrade works exactly? I emailed Ipsy care, but their response was no help.

I’m not sure, but I was just given the option to upgrade (I’ve been an ipsy member for just one month)…It popped up when I logged into the site on a computer, not on my phone or the app…so maybe that’s where the glitch is???

Also, when I accepted the upgrade (I’m actually keeping both for now), I got a message saying that my first GBP would be the May box…April will just be my normal ipsy bag.

Rachael

It’s a glitch. It happened to me once too. It was still a month and a half after until I was actually upgraded.

I was really happy with everything! I have been getting Ipsy Plus since Jan and I think they have been doin’ an amazing job! I don’t always use every single item they send me but most of the time I’m happy with at least 4 out of the 5 items. In my March box I recieved the Smokey eye Huda palette, pixi mascara, benefit bronze highlighter, farrah brushes and purlisse orange creamsicle body butter. The only thing I have no idea what I’m going to do with is the bronze highlighter. I was thinking about adding it to lotion or something but I have no idea how I would do that considering you have to get it out with a brush. I use the orange creamsicle body butter everyday. At first I didnt think I would care for the smell bc I’m not big on orange scents but it really grew on me. I dont have anything like it and I’m really lovin’ it! Lol

I got the Sun Beam Golden Bronze Complexion Highlighter, instead of the shy beam. Does anyone have any other ideas of how to use it like the under eye concealer? I don’t use bronzers much and would love other ideas of how to use it.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

You can use it as an eye shadow.

I used the shy beam under my brow line, and cleaned it up with a brush. Totally brightened my eyes. The Huda palette is wonderful! I love it! I actually like the mascara. I don’t have a problem with clumping or flaking.

I got the red lip in place of mascara, but the rest of my items were the same. I haven’t used anything yet. The Purlisse and the Benefit I’ve used before and like. I’ll hold onto those until I finish opened products. I might try the Huda. It’s my first eyeshadow from them, but the colors aren’t me. Still, I’d like to try the formula. I’m going to include the brushes with palettes I gift. It’s always nice to receive a brush with eyeshadow

YES! I use Shy Beam as an under eye concealer, too! Discovered it a while ago after getting a mini size in a Benefit sampler kit.

Thank you so much for the tip about using the Shy Beam highlighter as an undereye primer/concealer! I’m definitely going to try it out in the morning! Thanks again!!

Liz, I just tried the Shy Beam concealer trick, and OMG, it is lovely. I have deep allergy shiners, and this is awesome for neutralizing the purple and blue! I was a bit bummed with this product- I love highlighters, but I need some GLOW with them 💗 I’m now good on concealer for about a year 🤣

I got the same as you , love the purlisse the texture and scent brought me back to a moisturizer I used years ago but for the life of me can’t remember what the name was . The brushes were pretty but I wasn’t that impressed with them. Maybe because they are so light they feel cheep to me idk. Loved the face brushes we go a few months ago though . I I

I agree. I associate good brushes with a bit of weight to them. The best brushes I’ve ever used are MAC, Sephora Pro, and Luxie. They definitely feel much different than the Farrah and SLMissGlam (I think that’s the name) brushes. If it wasn’t for that factor I’d have loved the brushes that came in this set. I thought they made a pretty thorough eye set.

I will definitely have to try the under eye trick, because I’m all about the glitter and was disappointed in a non-sparkle highlighter. Thanks for the tip!

I wound up getting a 2nd HUDA palette because I didn’t love the idea of the coral one. I have to say though, some of the shades are really wearable. I have 3 HUDA palettes now (I got the Gemstone one on sale at Sephora, and it’s amazing) and I really love them. The size is perfect for bringing with you and the colors are so pigmented!

I also got the lipstick instead of mascara, and it’s lovely. It stays really well and is super pigmented.

I received the very same items in my box. I LOVE the Benefit “highlighter”. I started using it under my eyes too. And my inner eye corners too. I as well just did not like the mascara. I like Pixi but not everything in the line. I just don’t like their mascara formula. Other than that, I love My Huda Mauve palette too. I’m very pleased with everything.

Katy

I loved my Huda palette and the Purliss. I got the brush set as well and it just didn’t impress me. They do get the job done but not very well in my opinion. Overall, I was very happy with my box though. I’m glad I skipped April. The only thing I would have wanted is the eye cream. I hope May picks back up.

I am really enjoying the moisturizer at night. I got the other highlighter and have not tried it. I never know what to do with liquid ones.

Nikkim

I also wasn’t a fan of the mascara. The wands are amazing and it went on great but it flakes on me when I barely touch my face lol I’m a face toucher

Cheyenne

Liz, I’d really wish you’d start doing makeup looks with your beauty bags.

Swatches don’t tempt me to try new products because everything looks different on the face.

Show us what that highlighter looks like as a concealer!

I thought the Benefit Shy Beam made a great concealer it would work for contour too. If it was marked concealer people would’ve loved it. That’s how I’m using mine.

I loved the March plus box! I skipped the April box and want more May spoilers to see if I’m skipping it or not. March was great!

The Maelle mascara is one of the best finds for my sensitive eyes. I love the HUDA smoky palette and the liquid bronze highlighter is like a liquid version of Ofra Rodeo Drive. The Purlisse moisturizer is a great basic that’ll get used. Quite pleased for the value!
