Robb Vices March 2019 Review
Included is a handy booklet with all of our product info. Unlike last month, there are multiple items this time, but no champagne.
Looks like we have some CBD products (yay!), GIN (YAY!), and some sort of utility bracelet (yay?). Let's take a closer look.
Higher Objects Sawyer Utility Bracelet - Retail Value $79.99 (found here for $49.00)
Ok, so this bracelet is much cooler than I thought. It is actually pretty darn useful and functional. The clever design hides a small stainless steel blade with a flattened tip that can be used as a screwdriver. This contraption is attached to a high-quality leather band. The downside is that it is far too big for me to personally wear. I don't have thin wrists (I would consider them pretty average) and I would have to punch in a hole to wear this, and even then it would feel bulky. This was good news for my husband, who was happy to claim it for himself. The leather band is really thick and will require some breaking in. The holes themselves are actually really difficult to secure the peg through the first few times, so I would suggest playing with this band and flexing the leather into something more comfortable before everyday wear. It fits very much like an Apple Watch sports band in terms of mechanics.
CBD Oil 2000mg by Aethics, 2 oz - Retail Value $119.95
CBD oil is one of those things I like to use, and I swear it makes me feel great, but I also couldn't actually scientifically prove it. I suffer from migraines and whenever I get one I like to take CBD oil sublingually by dropping it under my tongue and leaving it there for 30 seconds. I usually swish it around in my mouth after then I swallow. Sometimes I really feel great, like my arms and legs are lighter, and tension in my shoulders is less. Other times I feel nothing, so who knows! I will say that we have two senior dogs and giving them CBD has been a game changer. Charlie is absolutely terrified of storms and a few drops on a favorite treat when it starts raining makes a noticeable difference in his stress level. Piper is about 700 years old and has no real problems, other than a little wandering at night. This helps her have really restful sleep. This is a pretty potent formula (I think my other bottle is 1200 mg) so I will try this out but use less for sure.
CBD Muscle Rescue Lotion 1000mg by Aethics, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $59.95
I wanted to love this lotion, but I can't get past the mild Bengay scent. I know this line is targeted at athletes who might be used to smelling like that, but, I am no athlete and I hate wintergreen mint scents. I did try it for you guys though! I honestly didn't notice a difference in anything with this, but that also might be because I don't really have any pains that would benefit from a CBD lotion or cream. My mom has arthritis in her ankles and she swears by a similar cream, so this will be a gift to her. I hope she likes it as much as her other brand! The formula has coconut oil and vitamin E, so even if the CBD isn't your main draw your skin will be happily moisturized.
St. George Terroir Gin, 75 ml - Retail Value $36.99
I love gin! I will pick it over other liqueurs most every time. It just has such a green and earthy vibe that feels like being in an evergreen forest surrounded by juniper berries. I don't usually try gin neat, frankly, because most gins are borderline undrinkable neat, at least for me. I am currently working my way through a bottle of Hendrick's, which couldn't be a more different beast than this bottle by St. George if it tried. While my Hendricks is certainly gin-ny, it has light notes of cucumbers and roses. This St. George gin is like drinking a tree while sitting in a forest surrounded by more trees, but I mean that in a good way. It has none of the frills of some other more "fancy" gins and has strong notes of pepper and pine. This stuff starts out very demure and smooth, then quickly starts to smolder, burning in your mouth. If you don't like gin this probably sounds just awful, but I promise it is actually kind of magical. I actually would drink this neat again, though I prefer it in a cocktail I mixed up that I will leave the recipe for below. This tasty gin is made in NorCal and the botanicals used in its production are found in the forest surrounding the distillery.
George and Germain
- 3 oz gin St. George Terroir Gin
- 3 oz St. Germain
- 1/2 cup seltzer
- Splash of Violet Syrup (Lavender will work too!)
- Sprinkle of raw Turbinado sugar
- Rosemary Sprig
- Lemon Rind
Pour St. Germain and St. George over ice into a glass of your choice. Make sure it is pretty so you can post it on Instagram. Stir. Pour a splash of violet syrup. Stir.
Sprinkle with raw sugar and garnish with lemon twist and rosemary sprig. Go forth and be fancy.
Verdict: This Robb Vices box is one of my favorites. I love the CBD oil and the utility cuff. The cream is not a scent I like but my mom will love it. And sending me gin is a quick way to my heart every time. This might be an odd thing to say, but I feel like this RV box felt very much like a Robb Vice box should feel, at least to me. The overall value here is around $296.88 (or $265.89 using the sale price of the cuff), which is great for a $160 sub unless you avoid CBD or hate gin. If so, sorry. You can always mail those items to me!
