Scentbird is a perfume subscription where you choose one fragrance per month. They offer a variety of authentic designer scents and allow you to narrow down by either traditional categories for notes (e.g., floral, woody, spicy, etc.) or more general descriptive terms (e.g., mysterious, classic, flirty). Subscribers also receive a monthly discount code that can be used on full-size bottles of perfume or cologne from the Scentbird shop.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Scentbird April 2019 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
There was an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Wild Poppy” by Nest Fragrances.
Wild Poppy by Nest Fragrances – Estimated Value $11.84 (buy 50 mL for $74)
This is a new fragrance for 2019. I do like receiving new fragrances to try – there are some fragrances I have about 30 sample vials for, but they are usually older. Plus, I do like seeing scents that don’t appear in every Ulta GWP.
I am rather glad I tried this one before looking it up to see what the notes were, because it is fruity and floral and those are normally not what I go for in a fragrance (I like spicy, woody, etc.). However, there is something about the combination here that worked for me. This includes pear, raspberry, apricot, jasmine, and rose. I think what I’m happy about is these are not the normal fruity (e.g., citrus) scents that show up in fragrances. The raspberry and apricot together are nice. This one is interesting in that there are no typical base notes like sandalwood or amber or musk, but at the same time, that keeps it from smelling like everything else out there. This one is also good for summer.
There were some extras in this month’s package as well to introduce Scentbird’s skincare offerings. You will notice a variety of skincare brands in the brochure and those brands all do seem to be offered through the subscription (some for only a limited time, and some with a $5 or $10 extra cost for the month). Scentbird also is rolling out their own skincare line (they already have some bath and body items) and there was a sample packet of this face wash (no pricing provided because it doesn’t seem to be available for purchase yet). I thought this was an effective product although I note I used it on a weekend when I hadn’t been wearing makeup so while it does cleanse the skin without stripping all of the moisture out of it, I can’t say how well it would do at removing makeup.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $11.84, which is less than the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Your value will depend entirely on what fragrance you choose and if you care to do the math beforehand, you can come out pretty well. For me, though, this is more about discovering fragrances that will work for me, and if they have a bit of a lower value, I can deal with that. I had never tried this particular fragrance before, though I am generally a fan of most of Nest’s offerings, and I will use this some, especially throughout the summertime.
Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95 a month and this month, I received $11.84 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
