SoKawaii March 2019 "Sakura Dream Resolutions" Review

Sokawaii March 2019 - Infosheet Front Sokawaii March 2019 - Infosheet Back

SoKawaii always includes an informative sheet that details the products and an explanation of the theme. I love the adorable sakura petals on the pink paper!

The spring months always bring lovely cherry blossom themed snacks and products—I’m excited for what adorable items we’ll see here~

Sokawaii March 2019 - Sailor Moon Plushie Front

Sailor Moon Plushie – Estimated Value $19.22 (there are so many different collector item sets and editions, but the value is based on a similar plushie of the character)

Sailor Moon is a Japanese manga and animation series featuring a schoolgirl, Usagi Tsukino who transforms into Sailor Moon to search for a magical crystal, leading the Sailor Soldiers and protecting the crystal from villains. Sailor Moon is another extremely popular cosplay, plushie, and accessory character—this plushie is Usagi, the reincarcerated Princess of the Moon Kingdom, hence the small red moons on her clothes. Her signature yellow hair is parted in a heart shape, and this plushie even includes her color gem on her sailor clothes!

Sokawaii March 2019 - Sailor Moon Tag Front

Here’s the tag that shows it’s a genuine Sailor Moon collector item, with the light-sensitive security mark and copyright label!

Sokawaii March 2019 - Rilakkuma Sakura Cup 1 Sokawaii March 2019 - Rilakkuma Sakura Cup 2

Rilakkuma Sakura Cup – Estimated Value $8.99

Sanrio releases many different sets of cups for special holiday themes—this Valentine’s Day edition cup is similar (though it can’t beat the beautiful cutting )

I love the cups and containers SoKawaii includes in boxes—I use them to store special teas I’m saving, candy, and this acrylic one I’m using to keep small foil candies (like Kisses)! Rilakkuma is San-X’s famous ‘Relax Bear’ who loves dango rice cake, pancakes, and custard! His friend is Korilakkuma, a smaller mischievous white bear. The two are sitting and watching the cherry blossoms on the cup (which is just too darn cute T^T).

Sokawaii March 2019 - Little Twin Stars Bento Box Cover Top Sokawaii March 2019 - Little Twin Stars Bento Box Chopstick Sokawaii March 2019 - Little Twin Stars Bento Box Slider

Little Twin Stars Bento Box – Estimated Value $24.48 (£18.99)

This bento box has a glittery edition with the same shape and chopstick set.

A bento is a single home packed lunch common in Japanese cuisine (I’m happy to see them here!) A traditional bento has a large space for rice, the side for pickled/cooked vegetables or egg roll slices.

This bento box has a nice area for chopsticks in addition to featuring another favorite Sanrio characters, the Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala!

There’s a sliding portion divider in the actual box—it’s helpful to separate since many foods have sauces that can leak into the other portion.

Sokawaii March 2019 - Lunch Bag My Melody Held Sokawaii March 2019 - Lunch Bag My Melody Inside Sokawaii March 2019 - Lunch Bag My Melody Handletag Sokawaii March 2019 - Lunch Bag My Melody Withbento

Lunch Bag My Melody – Estimated Value $18.99

This lunch bag stole my heart, featuring my favorite Sanrio character, My Melody! My Melody is a white rabbit friend of Hello Kitty. She debuted as Little Red Riding Hood and her favorite food is pound cake

But the magic doesn’t stop here—the bag is insulated, which keeps your food warm!

The handles are a lovely baby pink color, like the designs on the white bag, plus the Sanrio tag.

And… it’s a perfect fit for the bento box!!

Sokawaii March 2019 - Cherry Blossom Sponges Pcs Sokawaii March 2019 - Cherry Blossom Sponges Layer

Cherry Blossom Sponges – Estimated Value $2.95

Aw… these sponges are too adorable to use!! They’re squishy with two different texture sides—one double layer soft sponge side, and a felt on the other. Isn’t the pink so pretty? My favorite shade! This pair of sakura shaped dishwashing sponges have the same adorable white and pink theme of spring.

Sokawaii March 2019 - Hand Towel Cardcaptor Tag Sokawaii March 2019 - Hand Towel Cardcaptor Design

Hand Towel Cardcaptor – Retail Value $7.99

Cardcaptor Sakura is a Japanese manga and animation series, featuring Sakura Kinomoto, an elementary schooler who discovers magical powers after releasing a set of magic cards. Her adventure is to retrieve the cards to prevent them falling into the wrong hands. Though I’m not a fan of animations like these, I can’t deny the towel is cute.

Sokawaii March 2019 - Hand Towel Cardcaptor Texture

One side, with the art on it, is the soft side that feels like a velvet and cotton mix. The other side is the threaded side, a little rough but still soft enough.

Verdict: I just love cherry blossom season so much, and this box made me love it more. The lovely cherry blossom designs of the cup and the lunchbox were adorable touches I appreciate SoKawaii included. The best item of the box definitely was the pair of sakura sponges. They’re almost too nice to use, but I’m saving one and using the other to brush off eraser poop on my desk 😊

I calculated an estimated retail value of $82.62, which is over twice the $35 box cost, including free shipping! Japanese items, especially genuine Sanrio, San-X, or collector items tend to be very expensive, so I’m grateful to be able to keep these items for such a good value.

I’ve recently started my first subscription. But i only want 1 box. What I’m concerned is unsubscribing too late. I also don’t know how to do it.

I love the contents of this box!! Now I wanna subscribe! Lol! For me, age doesn’t matter and I’d rock this lunch bag and the bento box without a thought! That towel will go straight to my skincare routine and the sponges will be hoarded for gentle use on something somewhere haha!

I know… the sponges are too pretty to use 😭😭

Personally, I would be excited to get anything Sailor Moon now! Also, Sailor Moon Crystal came out not that long ago – so I would imagine there are younger fans of the show as well.

Cardcaptor Sakura I can’t explain though.

Nanners

Cardcaptor Sakura came out with a recent sequel which is still being serialized! I’d totally love that hand towel though I probably won’t want to use it 🙂

It’s soft enough to use as a face towel as well— I recommend using it like that! For now, mine is on my dog’s bed 😂

Indeed so Kawaii… 🙂
But not too fond of the Sailor Moon plushie & Cardcaptor Sakura towel…maybe if I got it like 20 years ago when the anime was popular it’ll be different.
@Nicole: between Kawaii & SoKawaii, how do you compare it?
Thank you.

Hard question! I’d say for the value of the box definitely SoKawaii- I’ve always seen genuine Sanrio, San-X, etc items which are usually really expensive (think Disney store item prices), and the products curated tend to be everyday lifestyle items. Kawaii Box also curates a wide variety of cute products, but I’m not sure if every subscriber would *actually* use them. Hope it helps!
