Astral Box April 2019 Review

The beautiful, eye-catching, spiritually stirring April Astral Box is here and it's got me feeling inspired as ever. As an introduction to the box, I was provided the two cards you see pictured: the first is a general welcome with info about their social and customer service contacts. The second is a welcome to this specific box, which was designed in collaboration with New Zealand artist Annie Tarasova, who goes by Dreamy Moons. On the back is a list, value, and small description of everything you'll find inside. Note that its values are listed in New Zealand dollars (NZD). If you look closely, you may be able to see that these cards have small pieces of dried flower petals on them—they were scattered throughout the box. It made a bit of a mess but also made for a lovely smell as I explored what was sent to me!

Dreamy Moons Affirmation Cards – Listed Value $16.48 USD ($25 NZD)

The first collaboration piece featured in the April box is this set of 10 affirmation cards. I couldn't believe when I unpacked these because I made and mailed my brother a set of affirmation cards last week, so this is a very direct manifestation of that karma coming back to me! Isn't it said that what you put out into the world is often what you need in return? This season of life has definitely been a bit straining with some challenges in my family and changes in my career, so these absolutely beautiful affirmation cards have already gone to good use.

The back of each card has the gorgeous sun, moon, and mountain illustration you see on the right above, and each affirmation is illustrated like the middle and left images show.

If you want to expand your affirmation card deck beyond what Astral Box has provided, there are over 20 more you can add to your collection. Visit the Dreamy Moons Etsy shop, and for subscribers to Astral Box, there is a coupon code available.

Dreamy Moons Art Prints – Listed Value $25.05 USD ($38 NZD)

I love this quote that's printed on the info card:

"Dreamy Moon's art is inspired by the Universe. By the galaxies swirling in our souls and stardust that runs through our veins. By us. By Nature. By the connection between every living thing. By endless love within us."

Each April box includes five of her most popular art prints, which are so detailed and thought-provoking. Most of them have a "chalked" look to them and the one identifying stones looks like it was originally a watercolor. The stones are depicted with such impressive likeness to the real things!

Dreamy Moons Watercolour Guides — Listed Value $7.91 USD ($12 NZD)

The last Dreamy Moons collab piece included this month is this set of four small watercolor guides—though, you can color them with whatever type of pigment you wish! These would make a lovely housewarming gift after being painted and framed, or, of course, a lovely way to brighten up your own space.

Peachy Essential Omega Facial Oil — Listed Value $30.98 USD ($47 NZD)

The last Astral Box I reviewed was January's, at which point I was introduced to NZ skincare brand Peachy with their Daily Vitamin C Serum. I loved everything from the branding to the quality to the light and refreshed way it made my face feel. I typically only wash my face once per day and was already working through a bottle of facial oil from an even earlier Astral Box (April 2018, see that review here)—alternating between that and a light moisturizer depending on the day—so after sampling the Peachy serum for the review, I set it aside until I ran out of the other stuff. I just re-introduced the Peachy Vitamin C Serum, and now here's another one to work through next!

I love the dark green color it takes on! I've never used a product this color so it feels very novel. The directions say to apply this after your water-based serums and before your moisturizer, but like I mentioned above, I usually use one or the other. I'm not sure why you're not supposed to put it directly on your skin, but neither hemp seed oil nor chia seed oil is harmful to use on your face, so I gave it a try as my only after-wash moisturizer. My skin felt very hydrated and glowy, and a little went a long way.

Fun fact: this product has not yet been released on the Peachy site (peachyskin.co), so this is a special preview for Astral Box subscribers!

The Universe Necklace & Pendant Collection — Listed Value $49.44 USD ($75 NZD)

This is such a lovely little pendant set. I usually rock statement jewelry and don't own anything so delicate and sweet. I like that you can change the pendant depending on your mood, or wear a combination at the same time! The very fine chain of my necklace came a bit knotted, but it was easy to straighten out.

Tigers Eye Crystal — Listed Value $4.61 USD ($7 NZD)

Finally, this amazing stone. Tigers Eye is an old favorite of mine, it's one of the few stones I could identify before I became interested in them as a young adult. It looks so brilliant in the sunlight!

Verdict: I never fail to be completely impressed with the high-quality experience Astral Box offers. This month, in particular, had me feeling so delighted because the Dreamy Moons collaboration felt special from before I even opened the box. Based on listed values, the items in this box add up to around $135 USD, which exceeds the $67-$101 USD value that was promised by Astral Box

Great box.

Christen: I’m confused why you think you are not supposed to put the oil directly on your skin. I don’t think they are saying you have to use a serum before this, just that if you do, you should use it first.

I’m glad you mentioned something about this—I just wasn’t sure! I’m so not in the know with beauty stuff, haha.

I LOVE dreamy moons! I already have her affirmation deck, which is why I didn’t get this box. I use them every morning with my girls (we homeschool). Now that I see all the prints included and a coupon for her shop, I’m all over this! Thanks for the great review!

I LOVE dreamy moons. I thought this included the whole affirmation deck, which I have, so I didn’t sign up. I use it every morning with my girls (we homeschool), to start the day. Now that I see the prints and a coupon for her shop, I’m all over this. Thanks for the great review!
