Astral Box May 2019 Review

I always know I'm in for a treat when my Astral Box arrives. Last month's collaboration with Dreamy Moons featured included a special starry box design. This month, the box is back to being simple, solid cardboard, but it still felt special opening the lid to find an illustrated moon print greeting me, as well as the carefully packaged products nestled in brown paper sizzle and scattered rose petals. On the reverse side of the moon card is a list of the month's products with their values clearly shown.

Moonlight Body Oil – Listed Value $28.58 USD ($44 NZD)

It isn't uncommon for Astral Box to provide a high-quality serum of sorts—it's actually through this box that I was introduced to the concept of pampering the skin on my face! Everything about this product is elevated, from the packaging and the way they word the directions on the box to the product inside. It has a light, clean, natural scent and feels similarly light and smooth on the skin.

Opalite Moon Crescent – Listed Value $9.74 USD ($15 NZD)

The crystals Astral Box includes always manage to be something out of the ordinary. The stunning glow and understated rainbow tones of this opalite shine in this crescent shape. The stone is endlessly fascinating to look at when you hold it under the light or up to the sun.

Astral Collective x Band of Weirdos Moonstone Pin — Listed Value $11.04 USD ($17 NZD)

This glittery enamel pin was created in collaboration with Band of Weirdos. It's such a fun one! I always prefer that enamel pins to have two posts on the back for extra security, but this one doesn't have that backup. I'll just have to put this pin somewhere that won't get too much wear.

The Lunar Tea Co. New Moon Blend — Listed Value $8.77 USD ($13.50 NZD)

This loose-leaf tea is so flowery! I love the natural look and smell of it. I appreciate that the sticker on the back suggests to check in with your doctor before drinking the tea if you're pregnant or nursing, because I am, indeed, breastfeeding. That said, from my personal experience, all these ingredients are compatible with breastfeeding—I've even heard that raspberry leaf can promote milk production. But I, of course, am not a doctor, so I would still check in.

Here is a coupon for 15% off from The Lunar Tea Company.

Cohenkshop Moon Hanging — Listed Value $38.32 USD ($59 NZD)

Oh, how I love this hammered gold hanging! I have something very similar hanging in my daughter's nursery and have toyed with moving it to a different part of my house so I can admire it more often. Now I don't have to! Would it be overkill to have two moon phase hangings in my house? I don't think so.

Verdict: As always,  Astral Box delivered a blissful experience. Every single product was thoughtful and had nice quality. Based on listed values, the items in this box have a total retail value of around $97 USD, which is on the upper end of the $67-$101 USD value range that was promised by Astral Box

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, Astral Box is currently shipping the June box. Boxes ship on the 2nd week of each month.

I had to buy the stone from etsy. Although the one I got wasn’t nearly as nice as this one. My edges were rather sharp and pointy. Jagged.

Oh well I tried. Hardly buy things I see from boxes.

Love the Band of Weirdos Moonstone Pin!

A little off topic but still connected to the word “Astral”: I just read a newspaper article this morning about Navy pilots seeing UFOs in my hometown, which will be featured on the History channel’s new UFO series premiering tomorrow night. That got me thinking–are there any UFO subscription boxes? If not I think there may be a market niche for one–something a little campy or kitschy–I’d definitely buy if the price was right (under $30).

I know Cryptid Crate isn’t focused solely on UFOs, but supernatural stuff in general!!
