Fair Trade Friday is an organization that helps to empower women and battle poverty through dignified, sustainable industry (craftsmanship). They have three subscriptions to choose from that send fairly traded items from around the world: The Original BoxBracelet of the Month, and Earrings of the Month. I have subscribed to the Earring of the Month box for years now, and I am really excited to have this opportunity to review the Original Box!

Seed Bead Tassel Wrap Necklace by Have Hope, Kenya - Listed Retail Value $24

Look at how pretty this necklace is! I like wrap necklaces a lot because of the versatility in length. I also think the turquoise, white, and gold seed beads are a very pretty combination for spring. This was handmade by the artisans at Have Hope in Kenya. Have Hope is an organization that provides training and dignified employment to impoverished women in Kenya.

Striped Cotton Print Wallet by Joyn, India - Listed Retail Value $40

I am in need of a new wallet, and this one is just perfect! I really appreciate that there is a zipper pocket for change. This is a sturdy cotton canvas and seems very well made. I have had other products from Joyn in the past, and they are pretty durable. More importantly, they are super stylish! The cotton is hand woven and block printed, which makes it even more special to me. Joyn is an organization in India that provides employment and education opportunities to women in India. This month is all about the women!

Fair Trade Friday Subscription Box Review April 2019 - Pearl Cord Bracelet by Rahab's Rope, India 1 Package TopFair Trade Friday Subscription Box Review April 2019 - Pearl Cord Bracelet by Rahab's Rope, India 2 On Top

BONUS: Pearl Cord Bracelet by Rahab's Rope, India

This bracelet is simple and pretty. I love pearls! The pearls were purchased from Rahab's Rope, which is an organization dedicated to fighting sex trafficking in India, and the bracelets were assembled locally. The idea behind this gift is to wear it to remind yourself of women around the world who are struggling to regain their freedom. I will wear it to remind myself also of the many people in the world who are currently joining them in that fight.

The Verdict: I am loving my subscription to Fair Trade Friday Original Box! All three items I received this month are lovely and will be used. I especially love the wallet! I also like all of the information they provide to show how your subscription directly impacts the lives of others. It makes the subscription seem that much more special.

To Wrap Up:

If I subscribe today, can I still receive this box? No. In order to receive the box of the month, you must subscribe before the 24th of the previous month.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $33 shipped. It included two items (not counting the bonus gift), so the average cost per item is $16.50. The total suggested retail for all items is $64, which means the savings on this box is 48%!

Nice things. And I agree – my wallets must have a zippered pouch to hold change!

But I am soooo ready for the tassel trend to end…..
