Flair & Paper May 2019 "Fierce & Fabulous" Review
Each box comes beautifully wrapped with a welcoming card introducing the theme for the box as well as an itemization to all the items we received. This month’s theme is "Fierce & Fabulous."
Every Flair & Paper box includes at least 5 greeting cards with coordinating envelopes. The cards are either horizontal (measuring 4 inches by 5 inches) or vertical (measuring 5 inches by 4 inches) and are blank on the inside for a perfect message or picture (my daughter loves including illustrations with her cards).
Fierce Momma Greeting Card – Retail Value $4.00
I love this card! My husband and I call our 10-month-old Baby Bear because she tends to growl quite a bit. Although this card came just in time to be sent for Mother’s Day but is one I will save. It is paired with an orangish brown a-style envelope.
Treat Yourself Greeting Card - Estimated Value $4.00 (value based on similar cards in Flair & Paper's shop)
This is another card I really like. To me, it makes a perfect birthday card paired with a gift card to something like the spa. It’s a simple design, yet it is really elegant looking. It is paired with a blush pink envelope.
I’m Yours (What Else Could You Possibly Wish For) Greeting Card - Estimated Value $4.00 (value based on similar cards in Flair & Paper's shop)
Ah, the snarkiness of Flair & Paper! I love to receive these kinds of cards in my monthly subscription. While I don’t really love the design of the card (the polka dots just aren’t doing it for me) the wording of the card makes up for it. It is definitely the Valentine’s Day card I will be giving to my significant other next year. This one is also paired with the orangish brown envelope.
I Really Like You. And I Don’t Like Many People Greeting Card - Estimated Value $4.00 (value based on similar cards in Flair & Paper's shop)
Ha! I really like this card. I can be social; a teacher once called me a social butterfly when she tattled on me to my mother for being a chatty Cathy. But in my adult life, I am not that social. This card literally made me release a Ha! when I opened it. It's simple, it's snarky, it's so me. This card is also paired with that orangish brown envelope (Flair & Paper loves this envelope!)
Hello Gorgeous Greeting Card - Estimated Value $4.00 (value based on similar cards in Flair & Paper's shop)
The last card I received in this month’s box is this horizontal Hello card. I like the pinkish/reddish plant-like design in the background and love the way hello is printed in gold. It looks like it is shiny, but it isn’t. This card can be used for any occasion but I think I will be saving it for my sister for some pretty special days coming up. Like the majority of the cards we received this month, it is paired with the orangish brown envelope. I don’t think this one really coordinates well with this card though.
Spiral Notepad by Lady Jane – Retail Value $4.00
I love notepads and genuinely enjoy getting them in subscriptions, but I am 30 and the last time I bought something that said Girl Power was like in the 5th grade. The notepad is cute, though. The design is pinks with gold accents. There are 75 pages of lined paper and it is closed with an elastic band.
Here it is for scale. It fits perfectly in my hand. I will be passing this on to my 8-year-old daughter.
Candle Wraps by Mixt Studio – Retail Value $12.00 (found here for $5.00)
This is different! I have never seen or heard of candle wraps before and my initial reaction was that they can be potentially hazardous, but the packing clearly states they are for votives and tealights. The package came with three identical wraps which were pretty easy to assemble. They are made of vellum and are really pretty. I am not sure where I would use these at. The design, while pretty, doesn’t go with anything in my home. I may end up using them as décor in my office. Either way, pretty cool discovery this month.
Pencil Set
The last item in this month’s Flair & Paper is this pencil set. I love the colors of the pencils, especially the bronze one. It really reminds me of some eyeshadows I have! They are both stamped with words of girly empowerment: "Hello Gorgeous" and "Get it Girl." I think these are great for my daughter and go perfectly with the notebook I received in the box.
May Calendar
Every month, Flair & Paper sends out a calendar page with their boxes, but can we just talk about those planters really quick?! I know they are drawings, but they are totally adorable and I am on the search for them! They are perfect for all my succulents! Let me know if you have seen these before and where I can grab some!
Verdict: Flair & Paper is one of my favorite subscriptions of all times. I look forward to the curation of the box, the theme of the box and the goodies inside. This box is primarily a greeting card box; I really feel like everything else included are treats or extras. I wasn’t too wild about the extras in this month’s box and felt like it fell short. I wasn’t feeling the Girl Power notebook and while pretty, pencils are meh. But the cards I received in this month’s box were awesome and some of my favorites ever. Flair & Paper still remains one of my favorite subscriptions. While I was unable to find the value for the pencils and calendar, the estimated value for everything else totaled $36 which is good compared to the $19.99 a month subscription cost.
