If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month, a new “collection” of seasonally appropriate, trend-conscious clothing is added to their collection. Depending on the subscription level you choose, you can pick out 1-2 pieces from those options, and Golden Tote will surprise you with the rest. The surprise items are completely different from the collections you pick from. Golden Tote also offers a Surprise Tote, where you choose your preferred size but leave all the picking up to the stylists at Golden Tote.
Golden Tote offers a $149.00 Golden Tote (5 clothing items), or $59.00 Mini Tote (2 clothing items). Both allow you to pick at least one of your items. There’s also a Surprise Tote (3 clothing items all picked by Golden Tote) for $89.00.
This is a review of the 5-item Golden Tote, which is $149.00. This month, I selected 2 of the items for my 5-item tote and they add 3 surprise items.
And for those of you asking, yes, everything does arrive in a literal tote!
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Golden Tote April 2019 Review
Here is a copy of my invoice, now let’s check out these items!!
Hem and Thread Striped Drawstring Dress, (Size Large) - Listed Value $40.00
The first item I pulled from the tote was a secret item: this taupe color drawstring dress. This short-sleeved, striped dress can be tightened and loosened at the waist and features a wrap like bust area. I ordered a size large, and it seemed a little too big, as I had to pin the bust together so I didn’t fall out! I tend to stay away from clothing in the color taupe because I feel like it washes me out, but I kind of like it with the jean jacket, and it is really comfy!
Bluebird Midi Dress, (Size Large) - Retail Value $42.00
The next item I pulled from the tote was an item I chose myself. This blue cotton dress was so cute on the model, but I don’t think it fit me quite right. I love the knot at the bust, and the slit on the side, but I felt like it was too tight in the waist. I felt a lot more comfortable pairing it with my go-to clothing staple: the jean jacket!
Paper Crane Ribbed Wrap Dress, (Size Large) - Listed Value $40.00
Here we have a black rayon and spandex ribbed wrap dress that was chosen for me by my stylist. While the fabric felt good against my skin, I was wayyyy out of my comfort zone! I am definitely not used to such a plunging neckline! I think I may tweak my style profile slightly to avoid such clingy fabric in the future as well. I’ll have to save this little number for an at-home date night with my hubby!
Paper Crane Floral Print Top, (Size Large) - Retail Value: $40.00
The last surprise item that came in this tote was a cream colored, short-sleeved blouse with floral print and a knot at the bottom. It is made of 95% rayon and 5% spandex. I must say when I pulled it out of the bag I wasn’t a fan at all; that is until I paired it with burgundy jeggings, sassy wedge sandals, and of course the jean jacket. I think it might be one of my new favorite outfits!
La Boheme Halter Top, (Size Large) - Retail Value $42.00
And finally, the last item in the box is this cute red halter top! This was the second item I picked out myself, and I love it! This top features patterns in red, pink, shimmery silver, and cream with navy blue fringe. Look at the back: it has tan buttons all the way up the back- so fun!! The only thing I don’t like about this top is that it is really sheer, and with the neckline, you can’t wear a shirt underneath it. I paired it with white capris and really liked the look, but since it's still a little chilly in Minnesota you can never go wrong adding a jean jacket!
The Verdict: This my first month of Golden Tote and I am a fan! While I didn’t love everything, I now know what kind of comments to add to my style profile for a better fit of clothing. I love that you are able to choose 2 items that you are sure to love and be surprised by the rest. It’s fun and you may find something you would have never picked out for yourself (I’m talking to you floral print top!) I can’t wait to see what is in store for me next month!
