Laurel & Reed April 2019 Review
There's a card which simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription.
The front of the info card features a lovely print on one side, and the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.
Cela Crème de la Crème, 2.5 oz. - Retail Value $27.71 USD ($37.00 CAD)
Not all hand creams are winners, but this one certainly is. First, the package is beautiful which makes me more apt to carry it around with me and take it out of my bag when needed. The formula is thick without being greasy or oily and the scent is a really lovely sweet fruity scent that combines orange peel and grapefruit essential oils. It absorbs quickly and leaves my hands feeling elegant and soft. This full-size tube should last me a while, too!
Ursa Major Hoppin' Fresh Deodorant, 2.9 oz. - Retail Value $18.00
Two of my faves in one: natural deodorant and the Ursa Major brand! I love seeing them show up in boxes so it's a treat to finally try their deodorant. My favorite part of this and the brand as a whole is that they make all of their products very unisex so that no matter how you identify, the packaging and scents seem inviting but neutral (aka they're not too floral or too musky). This deodorant is made with mint and eucalyptus, so it's really bright and fresh! It looks white in the cylindrical stick but goes on clear and doesn't feel cakey or dry. It uses kaolin (as well as baking soda) to absorb moisture, hops to stop any funky smells, and aloe to sooth. I found this to be a great contender to win my armpits for good!
Loli Beauty Prickly Pear Seed Oil, 0.24 oz. - Retail value $28.00
I saw this item in a teaser post on Instagram and got super excited because prickly pear (a cactus) just sounds too cute! This itsy bitsy bottle of seed oil can be used on hair as well as skin to absorb and lock in moisture while it also yields vitamin E to repair. The directions say to put a few drops onto your hands and press it up against your face but I've been tending to put the dropper right up to my forehead and cheeks to let some drop out before spreading it around after cleansing. It has a very light scent that is reminiscent of other seeds oils and its petite packaging is perfect for light travel.
Dirty Lamb Turkish Coffee Mask, 4 oz. - Retail Value $44.00
Shout out to one of my favorite places: Akron, Ohio! Dirty Lamb looks to be a small operation working out of the midwest and this is my introduction to them. I love coffee and know how grounds are great for exfoliation. This also includes coconut oil, my main spice: turmeric, cardamom, and mint. That's it! That mint also explains why I feel this tingling just a little while it's on. The mask overall can get a little dry, but the label tells you NOT to add water. It simply needs to be warmed up by placing the tub in a bowl of warm water to let that coconut oil liquify again. Once it's moist, scoop some out, smear it all over your face, and of course, take a selfie to post to Instagram. After 15-20 minutes, simply rinse with warm water while gently massaging those Turkish coffee grounds around to get rid of dull skin. Please note, though: if you don't like the smell of coffee, this may not be the mask for you. Even after rinsing, I could smell it and although I love it, it's not for everyone.
The Verdict: Laurel & Reed has once again introduced me to some new brands while including a favorite. I'll get the most use out of the hand cream that smells delicious while the prickly pear seed oil and coffee mask will easily be shuffled into my beauty routine. I love the deodorant but ended up passing it to my roommate since I already have several others on deck at the moment. Overall- I thought this was a wonderful box and the retail totaled $117.71.
