Loot Fright "Midnight Snack" April 2019 Review
The box comes with a card detailing the items inside and also highlighting the theme which is "Midnight Snack." This is actually the April box, but I didn't receive this until mid-May. I believe this is my first late box out of the three I have received though.
Before we get into the goodies, I have to showcase the box because each month they have some really fantastic artwork to go along with our theme. Look how cool this incredibly detailed design is!
Exclusive Mordeo Pin
Each month they send a pin that is usually inspired by a Crypt TV series, and since I am not familiar with any of them I usually just have to judge the pins based on their design. This month's pin is especially haunting as the clear bubbly layer over top of the deep red really looks like a pool of blood which sounds perfect for the head of Mordeo, a cannibal with antlers. This pin also unlocks exclusive content from Crypt TV.
Exclusive Just a Bite Phone Stand
This silver phone stand is pretty fun and cool! It holds your phone upright for you which is great in case you need to consult an online recipe for your midnight snack. It is medium weight and not quite as menacing to touch as it looks as it is a somewhat soft material, like a super firm rubber. The box it came in gives it a really nice presentation and I actually already gifted this to my father in law because I knew he'd get a kick out of it!
Exclusive The Twilight Zone Recipe Box
This next item goes perfectly with our theme and is discreet enough to keep in your kitchen with its simple black and white design. This recipe box has a long attached lid that folds over the top of the opening and keeps your recipe cards safe with a small magnetic closure. It came with six little dividers and fifty recipe cards that are lined on one side and blank on the other. The outside of the recipe box reads "To serve man" which is in reference to a classic The Twilight Zone episode.
Exclusive Baba Yaga Ornamental Keepsake
This item is the final keepsake from the Loot Fright Legends & Lore series and is based on Baba Yaga, a supernatural witch with chicken legs from Slavic folklore. It is said that she helps lost souls that find her, and may even eat them! I love that they incorporate some folklore into the box and these are always so nicely made and come in such a nice package. While it says it's a keepsake, this could easily be used as a bookmark, too.
Exclusive The Fly T-Shirt
The Fly-inspired shirt we received this month is really great and my husband immediately claimed it because he liked it so much. It is so detailed and gross, and the green color against the black background looks awesome. At the bottom you can sort of see the words "so fly" but even better, those words (which they describe as bile - yuck!) actually glow in the dark for a little extra fun! The shirt itself is soft and comfortable, but definitely on the smaller side, FYI!
Exclusive Lose Your Lunch Bags
In case you lose your stomach like The Fly up there, they provided these "Lose your lunch" bags featuring a B-horror movie. We received three of these paper bags and they recommend you "toss your cookies (or other snacks)" inside. I always get a kick out of how clever they are on their info card descriptions!
The Verdict: Midnight Snack was a fun theme for this month's Loot Fright box! I liked that a lot of the items were useful like the phone stand and recipe cards and that they addressed a wide range of horror-inducing franchises from B-movies to classics to folklore. The t-shirt designs are always really fun, too, this month especially! The quality of the items is always great and it's nice that they are all exclusive to the box. I think most horror fans would approve!
