Feel free to order multiples, but keep in mind that it might result in doubling up on the exact same products or you could get completely different products. It will vary from month to month. Received something you aren’t interested in? Give back to your community by donating the unwanted items. Have someone you want to send a care package to like a student in college or a grandparent? Our May 2019 Review
My box included this advertisement card for a movie on Fandango.
Every box lately has come with a recipe card that has one of the items as a main ingredient. This month its cereal bars!
Nutter Butter Cereal, 19 oz – Buy a 17.5 oz box for $3.98
150 Calories │ 4.5g Fat│ 25g Carbs │ 2g Protein (per 1 cup) – Expired April 19, 2019
I am not really a nutter butter lover so I wasn’t exactly excited about trying this cereal, but I was optimistic enough because I love cereal. When I opened this, it smelled like I was walking into GNC or some other health food store and it made me gag. I couldn’t bring myself to try it. My husband really liked it (he has no sense of smell so he wasn’t deterred away). The kids were also split on it. So while this wasn’t a favorite of mine, at least it will be eaten.
Boom Chicka Pop Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn, 7 oz – Retail Value $2.98
140 Calories │ 8g Fat│ 18g Carbs │ 1g Protein (per 2 cups) – Expired May 20, 2019
I love popcorn, I love Boom Chicka Pop popcorn but I am not sold on kettle corn. Sweet popcorn just doesn’t sit right with me (unless its caramel mixed with cheddar). This was a hit with the kids, though, and makes for a pretty great after school snack.
Chez Mix Bold Party Mix 3 bags 1.75 oz – Buy a value size 15 oz bag for $2.99
210 Calories │ 6g Fat│ 36g Carbs │ 4g Protein (per pouch) – Expires August 11, 2019
I was really excited to see these. The kids love them and they are individual snack sizes. I hated that there were only three, they went so fast! These are a great snack or inclusion for their lunches. Chex mix is always a win in this house!
Pizzeti: Emmentaler, Tomato and Olive flavor, 2.82 oz – Buy a 5.64 oz bag for $1.99
120 Calories │ 4.5g Fat│ 16g Carbs │ 4g Protein (6 pieces) – Expired April 21, 2019
I have never seen these before and had no idea what to expect as far as the actual snack or flavor. As soon as I bit into this, I was hit with flavors that reminded me of pizza. It was a little crispy but it was really, really good. The cracker even looked like it had real cheese melted on top. Super yummy!
Pizzeti: Emmentaler, Tomato and Garlic, 2.82 oz – Buy a 5.64 o bag for $1.99
120 Calories │ 4.5g Fat│ 16g Carbs │ 4g Protein (6 pieces) – Expired April 20, 2019
I was excited to see another flavor, though only one ingredient is different: garlic vs olive. Honestly, I thought I would like this one more than the previous because I don’t like olives, but I liked the other one so much more. This one was good but the garlic was really pronounced. Still a delicious snack, I just have a favorite flavor. Everyone else enjoyed these too.
Kit Kat Snack Size Bars: Halloween Edition, 10.29 oz – Buy the traditional style snack size Kit Kat here for $3.98
220 Calories │ 11g Fat│ 23g Carbs │ 2g Protein (3 bars) – Expires October 20, 2019
Oh boy! Kit Kats are my favorite candy in the whole wide world! I was pretty excited for these, then I realized they were white chocolate. I can do white chocolate, but I really prefer milk chocolate or dark chocolate. So I was both excited and bummed about these. I thought they were pretty cool being orange in color; very much Halloween. The kids loved them of course!
Duke’s Shorty Sausages: Original, 1.25 oz – Buy a 5 oz bag for $4.98
180 Calories │ 15g Fat│ 1g Carbs │ 9g Protein– Expired April 21, 2019
After last month’s chorizo lime flavor, I had no idea what to expect out of this. I am a lover of jerky so it was a bonus that this was original flavor and I bit right into it. It was pretty good, tasted like beef jerky. It is high in fat and protein and low in carbs, which is a plus. If this was at the store and I had to have a snack, I would happily grab this.
Bugles: Hot & Spicy, 7/8 oz – Buy a 7.5 oz bag for $2.49
Bugles: Nacho Cheese, 7/8 oz – Buy a 14.5 oz bag for $2.98
120 Calories │ 6g Fat│ 15g Carbs │ 1g Protein (per pouch) – Hot & Spicy expires June 17, nacho cheese expired April 28, 2019
I love Bugles! I was that kid that put them on my fingers and ate them right off. My box only had two bags, one spicy and one regular so I let each kid have one since my oldest loves all things spicy and my middle child loves cheddar/nacho cheese flavored snacks; these were perfect for them. They gobbled them right up! I was able to get a taste of the spicy ones and boy, were they spicy! I had to follow up with the cheddar and some water to get the spice away.
Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Candies, 6 oz – Estimated Value $7.00
130 Calories │ 5g Fat│ 19g Carbs │ 1g Protein (per 2 pieces) – Unknown Expiration date
I wasn’t able to find the expiration date on this package and the way they were all loosey-goosey makes me think this is something that was in a bigger box and split between subscriptions, which isn’t unusual for this subscription. The candies were pretty good and the caramel was really gooey. The sprinkle of sea salt was really delicious and offset the super sweet caramel. I am ashamed to say that these are all gone. As I was looking up these candies, I learned they were a Girl Scout product. I was unable to find a place to purchase them, but considering they are a Girl Scout product, they may have to be purchased from a Girl Scout. I did find this information here but it isn’t much.
Starburst Sweet Heat, 3 bars, 2.07 oz – Buy a 14 oz bag for $1.29
240 Calories │ 5g Fat│ 49g Carbs │ 0g Protein (per packages) – Expired January 19, 2019
I saw these once at the store and while I was curious, I was not curious enough to buy them. The idea of a loved sweet candy being spicy just wasn’t appealing so when I got these in my box, I was very anxious to try it out. The candies look like regular starburst, the packaging and flavors are even the same. The flavors do have flames though that indicate they are hot. When I unwrapped the candy, I noticed tiny red specs. I popped it into my mouth and was not impressed right away, it tasted like the same favorite flavors. Then it got hot, like really, really hot and I had to spit it out. Of course, my oldest child, Jayden, loves them.
Kettle Roast Toasted Coconut Sunflower Seeds, 5 oz – Unknown retail value
180 Calories │ 14g Fat│ 7g Carbs │ 8g Protein (per 30 kernels) – Expires May 16, 2019
These immediately looked unappealing. Coconut-sprinkled sunflower seeds? Yuck. And when I tried them, I spit it out. I convinced my kids to try them without telling them what they were and they both spit them out, too. I wish they were just regular sunflower seeds. I was unable to find this exact flavor online for sale.
Annie’s Organic Cinnamon Graham Crackers, 14.4 oz – Retail Value $8.30
130 Calories │ 3g Fat│ 24g Carbs │ 2g Protein (per 2 crackers) – Expires May 20, 2020
I have come to expect Annie’s Organic product in my Snack With Me box since I have gotten one every month. I enjoy trying the different products and so do the kids. These are such a big hit with my almost 10-month old. She loves cinnamon and these are just perfect for her. I keep a package in the car for the morning commute to school and after school commute; more than once they have been a lifesaver.
Chex Mix Popped Sweet & Salty mix, 9 oz – Retail Value $2.98
130 Calories │ 3.5g Fat│ 24g Carbs │ 2g Protein (per ¾ cup) – Expires July 17, 2019
I have never seen these before and was pretty curious to try them out. The caramel popcorn with the Chex Mix is pretty good; the flavors and textures go really good together. The kids also really loved these. We will probably buy more of these when they run out.
Verdict: This month’s Snack With Me was totally random with a majority of the snacks being ones I have never heard of or ventured out to try. I received 13 different snacks (or 18 individual snacks!). This month’s box was probably my least favorite, I wasn’t too thrilled with the mix I got and most of them I wouldn’t and haven’t eaten. I know this subscription is all about trying things out so while I didn’t love this month’s box, I am not disappointed because I was able to try out new things.
