May 2019 MoonBox “Appreciate” Review
The first card MoonBox provides is a helpful survey that allows you to take a moment to write down your intentions this moon cycle, plan how to take action on said intentions and what to leave behind and learn from this phase.
Moonbox sends out an info guide every month describing the featured items included in the box as well as for instructions on how they should be used. It also gives a general overview of the major cosmic events happening this month. This month has a New Moon in Taurus, which brings forth Taurus’s loving influence to help guide us to open a more intimate line of communication with ourselves and others.
Wooden Lunar Calendar/Collectible Crystal Card
Every month Moonbox includes a stylish wooden lunar calendar with the featured collectible crystal card on the back.
Firepot Nomadic Rooibos Chai Tea, 10g - Buy a 3oz tin for $7.99
Fiery and spicy, this rooibos blend is intense! I only needed a teaspoon of loose tea to make a full-flavored cuppa. I followed the instructions and brewed using a half cup of water and a half cup of milk, and it was the most delicious chai I’ve made at home. This blend is decaf, too!
Savvy Stone Elixirs Lavender Infused Play Dough - Retail Value $10
It has been too long since I’ve had my fingers in some play dough; this lavender version smells much better! This dough is made as a healing tool to ease anxiety, and I actually played with this as I was watching a Game of Thrones episode, which did help quell my nerves a little bit.
So Luxury Coco Oat Milk Bath, 100g - Buy a 300g bag for $20
The name of this product has all of my very favorite words in it, so I was bound to love this soak. It is a very mild cleansing agent meant to mix in with your bath to replace soap and to moisturize as well. It smells very faintly of coconut milk and is very soothing for your skin and your senses. The website describes this product as a non-soap cleanser for babies, and all of the reviews describe it being a cure-all for many skin woes for their kiddos - good to know since I have a babe on the way! I will have to squirrel this away for this fall.
Inked by Dani Hand Drawn Temporary Tattoos - Retail Value $4.50
These little doodles are all hand drawn tattoos created in the USA with cruelty-free, waterproof and FDA approved ink. Dani Egna draws each design, and each sheet costs $1.50. The directions to use these are the same as any temporary tattoo you’ve used in the past, and although I’ve only had mine on for half a day, I haven’t noticed any fading yet, and I’ve washed my hands about 10 times already. Cute! Update: after a hot shower the tattoo started feeling tacky so I ended up rubbing it off after that; if you use these, try to avoid hot water.
Super Seven Stone: use for emotional balance, associated signs: Taurus and Pisces
I had to laugh when I read the mini ritual: "sit on crystal." Haha! This stone is “comprised of seven major minerals each known to be associated with each of the seven major Chakras,” so if you’re looking for a rock to help you find yourself, you’ve come to the right place. Rediscovering ourselves is a great practice and among many other things, can help one to appreciate what you may have forgotten about yourself and what you already offer to the world.
The Verdict: Gaia MoonBox felt a little light this month. I really love each item I got, but as far as get getting a bang for your buck, this box’s value was just not there for me. I did make some great discoveries through the May box, but I was hoping for maybe one featured decorative item or accessory, making this box worth the $36.00 cost ($34.00 plus $2.00 shipping).
