Scentbird May 2019 Review

This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:

There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “In Full Bloom Blush” by Kate Spade.

Scentbird May 2019 - Fragrance

In Full Bloom Blush by Kate Spade – Estimated Value $7.80 (buy 3.4 fl oz for $98)

This one is actually really new, just released this year, and it doesn’t even have a Fragrantica page yet! Anyway, I will do my best here.

Top notes include red fruits (e.g., the raspberry from the information card) and citrus (which I totally do not notice when I wear this one). Mid notes include rose, peony, and honeysuckle, and this is super floral to me although I’m having trouble picking out any of those, specifically. The base notes include cedarwood, which also isn’t really noticeable on me.

What I’m getting out of this is a ton of flowers, which is not really my thing. I will say, though, that this will definitely appeal to some people. Furthermore, I appreciate getting a very new-to-market fragrance that I don’t have 500 samples of from GWPs, beauty boxes, etc. And, I have had a pretty good run from Scentbird’s Scent of the Month lately, so it was probably about time for one I didn’t love.

This one lasted about half a day before needing to be reapplied. I would say sillage was about average.

There was also a brochure in this month’s package to introduce Scentbird’s skincare offerings. You will notice a variety of skincare brands in the brochure and those brands all do seem to be offered through the subscription (some for only a limited time, and some with a $5 or $10 extra cost for the month).

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $7.80, which is about half the month-to-month cost of the Scentbird subscription. Your value will depend entirely on what fragrance you choose and if you care to do the math beforehand, you can come out pretty well. For me, though, this is more about discovering fragrances that will work for me, and if they have a bit of a lower value, I can deal with that. I honestly can’t remember if I’ve tried any Kate Spade fragrances before but I’ve learned I may want to stay away from the In Full Bloom line (which honestly I could’ve guessed from the name); it sounds like the Live Colorfully line is going to be more to my taste and I wouldn’t mind trying out one of those in the future.

Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $7.80 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).

Ragan, Kate Spade’s Full Bloom perfume was the featured fragrance in the March 2018 box. I can see why you don’t remember it, because you weren’t a fan of that one either. 😀 I remembered it because I was subbed then, received it, and loved it!… but I love florals. 🙂

I also get a lot of Kate Spade samples in GWPs so sometimes I just don’t remember where I’ve seen a particular fragrance before.

I hear ya. When I finish a product sometimes I can’t recall if I got it in a box, gwp, gift, or I bought it myself. 🙂
I just thought I’d mention since you said you didn’t think you’ve ever tried any Kate Spade fragrances before. 🙂
