Sephora Favorites: Power of the Petal Kit Review

Sephora Favorites - Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, 0.13 oz – Estimated Value $9.36 (buy the full-size version for $72)

I love Squalane and roses, and more importantly, my skin loves squalane and roses. I love that this has squalane as the first ingredient (most products have water), and Biossance uses 100% plant-based squalane (it can also be derived from sharks). This is a face oil that I would love to own the full-sizer version of, but unless it is a present that probably won’t happen. I’ll use up every last drop of this sample though!

Sephora Favorites - Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream

Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream, 0.16 oz – Estimated Value $31.68 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $99)

The Premier Cru line from Caudalie is pricy, so I was really excited to try this out. This is one third the size of the full-size version, and this alone is worth almost the cost of this entire box. This cream is supposed to do it all by targeting dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles, and luckily a tiny bit of this sample goes a long way. If you’re looking for a new eye cream, I definitely recommend trying to grab a sample of this.

Sephora Favorites - Farmacy Beauty Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Cream

Farmacy Beauty Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Cream, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $9.86 (buy the full-size version for $58)

Farmacy is one of those brands that I really want to love, but other than their Green Clean, none of their products really impress me. I have been wanting to try Honeymoon Glow for a long while, so I am excited to finally get the chance to do so. This is definitely a potent chemical exfoliant - it has lactic, glycolic, citric, and fruit acids to exfoliate your skin while you sleep, along with honey, echinacea, jojoba, and grape seed oil to try and protect your skin. I would layer this under a very heavy night cream (the Farmacy Sleep Tight Balm would be a good one) and don't use this every night or you will most likely over-exfoliate. I did feel that when I woke up the next morning my skin looked clearer and brighter, and I may try to swap for the full-size version that is coming in the upcoming Boxyluxe!

Sephora Favorites - Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream 1 Sephora Favorites - Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream 2

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream, 0.24 oz – Estimated Value $7.20 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $15)

Fresh is one of my all-time favorite skincare brands, and I absolutely adore their rose line. I hadn’t tried this product from the brand before, but I love the light rose scent and how nourishing it was to my skin. Even though this provides some serious moisture, it applies like a lightweight cream that doesn’t feel heavy.

Sephora Favorites - Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser

Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $5 (buy the 1 oz version for $10)

This really is a gentle cleanser, and it has a bit of a unique texture, too! It is rather thick, and it reminds me of clear jelly, but it glides across the skin with easy and doesn't leave me feeling tight. I have been using it as my post-gym cleanser to clean off sweat without irritating my skin, and I think the light blueberry scent is fun.

Sephora Favorites - IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce 1 Sephora Favorites - IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce 2

IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce™ Clinically Advanced Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer, 0.24 oz – Estimated Value $9.60 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $20)

It seems like every time I try a new product from IT Cosmetics I find a new product to love. This moisturizer is like a tall drink of water for thirsty skin, and I loved the way it sank in easily. It layered well with other products, too, which is important when doing a 7-10 step routine!

Sephora Favorites - Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Midnight Recovery Concentrate, 0.14 oz – Estimated Value $7.56 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $27)

This is a great night oil that I have seriously been considering purchasing in the full-size (if I didn’t have so many products I totally would have!). It has no bad ingredients like alcohol in it, and instead, it is packed with goodness like rosehip oil, Squalane, evening primrose oil, jojoba seed oil, and lavender oil. I don’t really pick up on any lavender scent, and my favorite way to use this is actually mixed with my evening moisturizer for ultimate hydration.

Sephora Favorites - Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask 1 Sephora Favorites - Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask 2

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, 0.10 oz – Estimated Value $2.86 (buy the full-size version for $20)

I love this lip mask. I am actually already on my second full-size jar of it, and this stuff lasts forever. It’s nourishing and it seals in the hydration on my lips so I don’t wake up with dry lips. I also will wear it as a thick balm after doing a sugar scrub before wiping it off and applying liquid lipstick to make sure my lips are prepped and ready.

The Verdict: I love the curated kits that Sephora puts out, but it felt like this one needed a full-size product to tie it all together. Even the full mini sizes of the blueberry cleanser or rose moisturizer would have made this seem a bit more impressive. I thought all of the products performed effectively, though, and I calculated a total value of $83.12. That’s right above the promised value of $81, and I think this kit is definitely worth it if you’ve been wanting to try out the Caudalie eye cream or honeymoon glow!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this kit is still available for purchase!

Value Breakdown: This kit cost $41.95 ($36 + $5.95 shipping) and I calculated a total value of $83.80. That means you’re paying approximately the following per item:

  • Biossance: $4.05
  • Caudalie: $13.72
  • Farmacy: $4.27
  • Fresh: $3.12
  • Glow Recipe: $2.17
  • IT Cosmetics: $4.16
  • Kiehl’s: $3.27
  • Laneige: $1.24

I have tried every single one of these items. The Kiehls, Biossance and Laneige lip mask are in my regular rotation. The Biossance pairs really well with the Drunk Elephant Sukari baby facial, or as a follow-up to your favorite chemical peel. And I cannot live without the Laneige lip mask. I am fighting the urge to buy the Apple Lime one on ebay. Shipping from Korea simply takes too long. You can go into any Sephora an get a sample of any or all of these. I will not pay $36 for it. The lip mask is the only one that will last a while.

I would never order this because of the over-packaging, everything nested in even more plastic for display. ):

There are several products here that I am anxious to try but the box costs too much. Prices on everything in my area are rising & they just upped our health insurance contribution at work. Time for me to dip into the massive stockpile of products I have from my subs.

Sephora is getting to be a rip-off. Here there are 8 tiny samples for $36. No thanks.

Christy

Exactly. This is basically an Allure beauty box, but more than double the price.

It is pricey at first glance but these are all great products. I love being able to try products like these before buying full size. this was well worth the $36. I’ve never seen a box come close to this in allure.

Nat

Agree. Especially with all the other awesome deals around

Thanks for the thorough review! I’m so happy to get your opinion on the Farmacy serum. It’s really the main reason I’m getting the June BoxyLuxe. I might like 2 or 3 of the other items but could easily pass without the inclusion of the Farmacy. I’m so relieved to know I will likely not be disappointed in my decision since the cost of the serum is more than the $50 box! I’m spending more money on sub boxes than usual in June (2 Ipsy, 2 Ipsy Plus, FCSC, Medusa’s Makeup, Allure, Beauty Heroes and possibly Sephora Play). I also gave in and resubbed to FFF although thank God not until the add-on sale was over, and I bought some stuff from the recent Sephora and Ulta sales so I was feeling a pretty guilty. I still feel a little disappointed in myself but not about the BoxyLuxe at least! 😄
