SlutBox by Amber Rose is lifestyle and beauty subscription geared towards sex-positive people (often containing lube, condoms, pasties, and other sex-forward items). It's $29.99 a month and tends to be a little controversial because of its name as well as some of the items included. They often send makeup and skincare, but not by brands that I'm personally very familiar with. They've had a few good months in the past but this month is not necessarily one of them. Read on if you're curious to see what's in store for April.
FYI – this post may not be safe to read at work.

SlutBox by Amber Rose April 2019 Review
SlutBox used to come with a zine every month but this is the third time in a row that they've been switching it up with different styles of info cards. It seems that the zine doesn't even exist online anymore (as it had in the past). They do have the SlutBlog though, which seems to take the place of the zine adequately.
Dr. Botanicals Pomegranate Noir Indulgence Cream, 1.69 oz. - Retail Value $37.99
At first, I thought this was a hand cream because of the tube, but it turns out it's a facial moisturizer. I'm not familiar with Dr. Botanicals, but they hail from the UK. The metal tube the moisturizer comes in is kind of nice and has a red floral pattern on it. I was turned off by the scent at first since it's a bit strong for facial cream, but it's actually growing on me quite a bit. The main ingredients are coconut oil and Tiare flower extract which gives it the floral scent I'm picking up. The full list of ingredients doesn't list pomegranate so I'm not sure where that came from, but I'm enjoying it none-the-less. Once I squeezed some out, it became more clear that it's intended for the face since it has a milky color and isn't as thick as a hand cream. It does a great job moisturizing and keeping my skin soft, so color me impressed.
Sutil Mint Body Glide, 2 oz. - Retail Value $15.50
Personal Lubricant is no stranger to SlutBox and this month's offering is in the form of a 2-ounce travel size of water-based mint body glide. It has a really slippery consistency and while it does taste slightly minty, it's not my favorite thing to eat. The mint (which is organic) also adds a bit of a tingle as well and the discreet size can be tossed in an overnight bag easily.
Millennial Beaute Make My Ex Wanna Get It Back CBD + Activated Charcoal Compressed Sheet Mask - Retail Value $10.00
I've never seen a "compressed" sheet mask before, so this one is new to me. This particular one has hemp-derived CBD powder in it along with glycerin, bamboo, charcoal, and activated charcoal. I added a small stream of water from my faucet to this tablet until it slowly expanded and I could unravel it. It's strange to handle a sheet mask that was once dry since there isn't a gloopiness that they usually have. I put it on my face and it essentially felt like putting a wet paper towel on. The directions say you can also add aloe vera to activate the mask so that may be a more luxurious approach. I honestly didn't really notice any positive effects with this besides the cooling effect of having a wet sheet mask on my face.
Sextz Gourmet Aphrodisiac Chocolate in Amorous Amaretto - Listed Retail Value $1.00 (Buy a box of 16 for $16.99)
Having a small piece of chocolate as an item is a bit sad. If anything, I'd expect a little box of at least four. This amaretto chocolate tasted really good but was gone in a mere moment and didn't really give my libido a boost. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nelson J Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Hair Mask in Coconut, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $6.76 (Buy a 3.4 oz for $24.00)
Every time SlutBox sends a "mystery beauty product" (which happens fairly often) it's always an item from a past box (you were right, Jackie!). This time, my mystery product was a hair mask I received back in the July SlutBox. They gave the product a $10-$15 value but this size isn't available to purchase so I estimated it at much lower based on a size I could find. The mask itself smells really great- like coconut- and contains argan oil which helps detangle as well as promote shine and chill out frizz.
SlutBox Selfie Light in Pink - Listed Retail Value $19.99 (Similar found here for $5.95)
I'm embarrassed to say that I was a little excited when I saw this in the box. I don't take a ton of selfies, but any lighting that isn't daylight is usually pretty rough (aka not so flattering). This plastic device clips onto your smartphone and emits three different levels of light in a ring which is meant to give your face the perfect glow. While I'm on the fence at how flattering this bright light is, there's no doubt it will allow you to take much brighter pics while out at night or indoors when the lighting isn't good. This product doesn't have a brand on it and doesn't seem super high-quality but it gets the job done. It comes with a USB charging cord which means it doesn't need batteries and there's a little button on the back that allows you to toggle through the three brightnesses. I feel like the retail value is pretty inflated based on a similar product I could find online which isn't out of character for SlutBox.
Venu Anti Cellulite Massage Oil, 8 oz. - Retail Value $12.99
I can't think of a time that I ever received a massage from someone with oil that wasn't at an actual spa who I paid to do so. Am I losing out? I just can't imagine how that plays out and what my sheets will look like afterward. If you're going to receive one, I guess you may as well use this oil which claims to be anti-cellulite. It happens to be highly reviewed on Amazon (although many mention cups that weren't included here), so maybe it does work? I'm happy to see that it's made with all natural ingredients- just grapeseed oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, and grapefruit oil, which also smells hella nice. The lemon especially stands out to me. The oil itself is quite lightweight and really allows easy gliding against the skin. While I don't think I'll be using this for massages, I will most likely keep this around simply to apply to my skin after my shower since it has a lot of great ingredients to see what happens.
Verdict: April's SlutBox was pretty lackluster and filled with a lot of items that don't make me feel like I'm getting a great deal for a $30 box. The massage oil was a pretty large size comparatively, but I'm not sure how much I'll use it. I was surprised by the moisturizer and the selfie light was fun, but overall I don't get super excited by SlutBox. Their curation seems non-existent and there is never a clear "hero" item or many brands that seem reputable.
