SoKawaii April 2019 Easter Bunny Party Review
SoKawaii always includes an informative sheet that details the products and an explanation of the theme. I love the adorable sakura petals on the pink paper!
This month’s theme is for Easter! I’m excited to see what kind of spring-themed items we’ll see:
My Melody Cotton Swab Dispenser – Retail Value $30.00
Hmm… while putting together the dispenser was easy (the package provided some cotton swabs to start with), I just wasn’t sure how useful it was, and whether it was really sanitary.
By pushing down the top bobblehead part, a cotton swab pops out for usage. However, I just felt refilling the dispenser would be time-consuming and unsanitary (unless I clean the dispenser inside every time).
On the positive side, it’s My Melody!! My favorite character from Sanrio is My Melo, a white rabbit whose debut portrayed Little Red Riding Hood! She’s Hello Kitty’s best friend 😊
Rilakkuma Boiled Egg Molds – Retail Value $8.67 (€7.75)
This pair of egg molds will make your lunch more adorable with bear-shaped eggs! San-X’s Rilakkuma (its name literally means Relax Bear) is a laid-back bear that loves dango mochi, custard pudding, and rice (like me!) This bear is such an iconic stationery character—it’s so darn cute! And now we can make eggs with his head! But… If I decide not to use these because they’re not BPA-free, would that be too picky? ┐(´∀`)┌
Gudetama Blind Box Collectible Mascot – Estimated Value $8.50?
Sanrio’s Gudetama is an iconic, lazy character—it’s an egg, with a butt crack, that feels existence is almost unbearable and prefers the coziness of his eggshell. The name translates to Lazy Egg and is known for its “meh” expressions and animations.
Sanrio periodically releases collectible blind box items for all its characters—this collectible celebrated Gudetama’s fifth anniversary. This one includes a piece of gum as well!
My collectible Gudetama is contemplating his life decisions, and probably wishing to curl back inside his eggshell (what a mood)! Here’s another collectible of Gudetama—this is the eraser edition!
KiKi’s Delivery Service Picnic Spread – Estimated Value $7.99?
A large part of the hanami festival or cherry blossom viewing, in Japan is a picnic party to enjoy the lovely view as well as have good food and drinks. A must-have item for such picnics is a picnic sheet or blanket. Towels and light blankets/throws are good, but this kind of plastic sheet is nice because it doesn’t get hot from the sun easily (and the designs are cute 😉)
Here’s the same picnic spread but in a different Kiki’s Delivery Service design!
Kiki’s Delivery Service Card Set – Retail Value $17.58
To be honest, I’m not much of a card player/keeper, but these Studio Ghibli set of cards I decided to keep because I am such a big fan of their animations, soundtrack, and characters! The animation style I personally love because the lines are so crisp with such vibrant colors—we see the same Ghibli art style in these cards. Simple, raw, but visually stunning.
I always listen to their background music and original soundtracks for each production when I’m studying. They are so delicate, beautiful, and just plain pleasant!
Kiki’s Delivery tells the story of a young witch, Kiki, who uses her flying ability to earn a living for herself when she moves into a new town. It’s one of my favorite Ghibli productions. I fell in love with the deep story behind the adolescent female character—her witchcraft ability isn’t used for simple wish fulfillment, and her remarkable independence is a beautiful and heart-warming moral.
Sumikko Gursahi Bunny Plushie – Retail Value $14.50
It wouldn’t be a SoKawaii box without a cute plushie!~ Sumikko Gurashi are characters of San-X, featuring Shirokuma, a shy bear, Penguin, a penguin who is unsure of his identity, Tonkatsu, a chubby lonely bear, Neko, a timid cat, and Tokage, the last dinosaur who pretends to be a lizard. These characters are timid, shy, and live a quiet and solitary life in the corner.
I love these characters so much because they’re so precious!! The plushie is too adorable… that pink hat T^T Here’s the tag (even the tag is cute) that shows it’s an authentic, copyrighted San-X product!
Verdict: This month’s box was a variety of adorable, but very useful items I plan to continue using. Japan’s very big on picnic seasons, so I loved the picnic sheet included as well as the set of cards (a definite picnic game!). I plan to take them with me for next year’s cherry blossom season! While the cotton swap dispenser is a little tricky/gimmicky, it looks so aesthetic among my many skincare products, so it’ll stay as a lovely figurine ~(^з^)-♡
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but you can subscribe by the 30th of each month to receive the following month’s box! Subscribe today here!

Value Breakdown: For $35.00/box and 6 items, you’re paying $5.83 per item. I calculated a retail value of $87.24 for all products, which is over twice the original value! Sanrio, San-X, or Studio Ghibli genuine items tend to be very expensive, so I appreciate the good value we receive through SoKawaii!
