Macy's Beauty Box June 2019 Review
Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:
You’ll also receive a $10 off coupon, which surprised me! They are usually for $5, so $10 feels extra special!
We did receive an "Oops!" card, which indicates that a product in the booklet didn't quite make it into the box itself. I will keep you updated as to what that product is as we go along.
And just like Ipsy, with each box you’ll receive a new makeup bag:
Instead of the typical pouch, this month's bag offering is a really pretty and well made rollup! Made of metallic faux leather, it is perfect for a smaller brush collection, or even jewelry. I love that they were extra creative this month.
Now, on to the items!
Kiehl's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $6.18 (Buy a full size 3.4 oz for $42.00)
This is a clay based, which is usually a no-go for my dry skin, but I have found that Kiehl's brand masks can be more gentle than I expect. This one certainly was, and it smelled nice and herbal too. It hs a mix of turmeric and cranberry, which gives it a lovely golden color. I think the little lumps are cranberries? Those little lumps are actually my only complaint about this mask because they are really difficult to wash off. Otherwise, this mask wasn't super drying and let my skin feeling really soft with a smoother and improved texture.
Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil, 5 ml - Estimated Value $13.33 (Buy a full size 15 ml for $40.00)
I own this oil already and love it for a few different reasons! The first is that I can apply it before most night creams without the two formulas interacting in a negative way. Sometimes when you mix oils and creams they get that gross pilly nonsense that no one feels good about! This oil absorbs into my skin pretty quickly and then my cream just lays on top beautifully. That is a big win for me personally! Second, it is full of vitamin C, an anti-aging power player because it promotes collagen turnover. This oil also smells really nice too, something like citrus and jasmine.
Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Youth Activating Smoothing Eye Cream, 0.2 oz - Estimated Value $26.80 (Buy a full size 0.5 oz for $67.00)
FYI: This was our item substitution!
I think eye creams are really important because that thinner skin sometimes needs a more gentle formula than the rest of your face. This formula is somewhere between a gel and a ream, and it is cooling and lightweight. It is very easy to apply under your eye and a little goes a long way. I noticed less puffiness the next morning after usage and an overall improvement in the firmness under my eyes. I think I might pop it in the fridge before I use it tonight for an extra cooling treat!
Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules, 7 count - Estimated Value $11.20 (buy 30 for $48.00)
Why are these little pods so cute? Each is filled with a serum that has much more of a gel texture than a liquid. A little goes a long way and I found that if I was very careful I could probably get two uses per capsule, turning this week supply into two weeks. This is a heavier serum and it didn't absorb right away. That was just fine with me since I apply a night cream over any serum and the two end up blending together anyways. The formula is a combo of retinol and ceramides, both of which are necessary for a well-rounded anti-aging regimen.
Ahava Mineral Body Lotion, 1.3 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.44 (buy a full size 8.5 oz for $29.00)
I have gotten this sample a few times before and while I love the texture and how it makes my skin feel, I really dislike the scent. It competes with my perfume and smells stuffy to me. Aside from that complaint, this is pretty much the perfect size for a purse lotion, and if you end up liking the scent your hands will be very smooth and happy!
Foot Petals Fancy Feet by Ball of Foot and Arch Gel Cushions, 1 pair - Retail Value $4.98
This is probably the most practical item I have ever gotten in this subscription. I am a-ok with it! I always have a pair of heels that are just ALMOST comfortable, and these gel cushioned foot pads really help me last longer on my feet during the day.
Chloé Nomade Eau de Parfum, 1.2 ml - Estimated Value $1.90 (Buy a full size 75 ml for $119.00)
As a perfume addict and Chloe enthusiast, I was really excited to see this sample this month. This fragrance is very polished and put together, which is a little remarkable for the wilder woodsy notes in it. It opens with a heavy, heavy citrus vibe that quickly turns into something much more 'forest', with notes of amber, wood, and oakmoss playing around the tart fruit. Before I make this sound like a masculine scent, I have to mention the overwhelming sweet florals (freesia and roses?) that cling to the outer edge of this scent. I noticed the farther I moved my nose away from my skin, the more dominant the florals were. She smells expensive, clean, and utterly in line with the Chloe brand.
Verdict: I really enjoyed this month's Macy’s Beauty Box. Starting off with a brush roll instead of a traditional pouch was a great first impression, and I loved finding Sunday Riley, Lancome, and Chloe items inside. The only item I won't use would be the Ahava lotion, but that is purely a scent issue, as the formula itself is lovely. The estimated value of this bag is somewhere around $68.83, and I feel like this is a great value this month, especially since the bag came with a $10 off code. This is likely one of my favorite months so far!
