June 2019 No Make No Life Box "Rise & Shine" Review
The booklet list gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. This month's theme is 'Rise and Shine.'
Etude House My Beauty Tool Eti Hair Band - Retail Value $5.04
Meow! This headband is so cute, and perfect for holding your hair back while you cleanse or mask. Though it does have an elastic portion on the back which makes it adjustable, I did find it a little tight on my 23-inch head, but not so much that it was unusable.
Angel Heart Cheek, Eye, and Lip Cream - Retail Value $3.20
This compact reminds me of those weird wax lip candies I used to get at Halloween when I was a kid. Open it up and you have a soft petal pink tint for lips, cheeks, or eyes, though I don't think this is a shade I would apply over my peepers. It applies in a sheer wash of girly pink and looks really natural on cheeks, as well as lips.
Choonee Water Lip Tint Balm - Retail Value $3.17
I have been weirdly into orange/red shades for my lips this spring and this water balm is a great shade if you also enjoy these bolder colors. The formula is sheer, but very buildable, meaning you can have just a hint or really go bold with a few extra swipes.
Etude House Oh M'Eye Line Liquid Eyeliner - Retail Value $4.72
Eyeliner seems to be a regular occurrence in this box. This jet black, fluid liner is applied with a delicate brush tip, and though it took longer than I would prefer to dry, it worked very well. It stayed in place, even through rubbing my eyes when I forgot I was wearing it. It was not super waterproof, so if you prefer that feature in a liner, this might not be your favorite.
Lip Moist Oil in 'Mellow Orange' - Retail Value $2.07
This lipgloss kind of smelled like orange JELLO, which I rather enjoyed. It was a pretty straightforward clear gloss with lots of shine and no taste.
From top to bottom: Angel Heart Tint, Choonee Lip Tint Balm, Etude House Liner, Lip Moist Oil
Juicy Bottle Mask - Retail Value $1.21
This mask is drenched in clear serum and has a very light, fruity scent. The instructions inside the booklet say it works in as little as 10 minutes, making this a great option for a quick morning mask.
Oshima Tsubaki Hair Cream - Retail Value $6.57
This hair cream has a soft floral scent and its most notable ingredient is camellia oil. I tried it on my dry hair, brushing it through with my fingers. It felt a little sticky, which had me concerned, but the texture in my hair was really nice and soft. You can also use it on wet or damp hair for a little extra smoothing and shine.
Lucky Trendy Hair Curler Set - Retail Value $5.94
These curlers are really interesting. Hollow, lightweight tubes, they have spiked grippers that grab onto your hair as you twist your tresses around then lock the loops into place. I tried these with damp hair and did find them mighty uncomfortable to sleep on. It might be a better option to use these and blow dry? The curling effect certainly did work, but those grippers made it hard to untwist my coarse hair without messing each curl.
Verdict: No Make No Life Box was fun this month. I love lip products, and we received 3 of them this month. I also thought the liner itself was really nice, though I will admit that I don't love totally waterproof liners, making this a great choice in my book. I never complain about a nice sheet mask, and I also enjoyed the hair cream and kitten band. The only duds for me were the curlers, but my hair is really thick and unruly, and things like this don't often work for me. My only real qualm with this box is that once again, the retail value ($31.92) is lower than the box cost. I would have liked to at least break even.
