May 2019 Pet Treater Dog Pack Review
This shipment from Pet Treater included 4 items and one promotional card:
The front of this promotional card includes a coupon for 30% off of your entire SHOP order through pet treater! Not only do you get a discount for shopping, but all month long, 100% of net proceeds will be donated to Brown Dog Foundation! (A non-profit organization that helps families afford care necessary to save their pets life)
The back of the promotional card features an adorable pup named “Ollie” as the pick of the litter. You can email your photo to possibly win “pick of the litter” and get a FREE ITEM in your next box!
Hyper Pet Gnarly Gnaws Dog Toy - Retail Value $9.99
The first item in this month’s box is this awesome dog toy. Here we have a 6.5” X 13.25” toy that features a tennis ball AND squeakers! My pups love to play fetch, and I love this toy for that! It is easier for my kids to throw, easier for my old pup to see, and easier to grab from my puppy than a plain old tennis ball. I can see this toy being chewed to pieces in mere minutes, so I do only use it for fetch, but my dogs love it!
Pink and Cactus Flannel Bandana
The next item we received is this large, white, flannel bandana. It is printed with pink polka dots, and bows on the cacti. First off, it is cute, but it is just a cut piece of flannel with no finished edges. I would appreciate it if they would send gender neutral bandanas or at least altered genders each month; this is the second month in a row we received a feminine print. To me, this feels like it should be a bonus item and not counted towards the value of the box. (See below for the photo of Gunner modeling this bandana; I had to bribe him with the cactus cookie)
Emmy’s Gourmet Canine Creations Cactus Cookie - Estimated Value $1.35?
Next up was this square envelope with a surprise inside: a frosted, cactus-shaped, three cheese pleaser dog cookie! How cute is this?! It was a nice sized treat, and the only way Gunner was going to let me put the bandana on him was if he got this special treat! I do appreciate the fact that they matched the print of the bandana with the cookie shape- that was a nice touch. I checked Emmy’s website but was unable to find the exact cactus shaped cookie. I did find these cute ice cream cone shaped cookies that are made of the same ingredients, just a different shape.
Prickly Pete’s Southwest Steak Strips
The last item in this package is a nice sized package of southwest steak strips. They don’t have a package size listed, but they were made by “Pound Bakery” and packed exclusively for Pet Treater, so I was unable to find these online. I appreciate that these are made and packaged in the USA, and are grain free. They smell like peas, and my dogs were crazy for these! I noticed this package also has a cactus on it, so they are doing a great job tying the entire box together!
Verdict: This month of Pet Treater really impressed me! I love the quality of the toy, the thoughtfulness of the gourmet cactus cookie, and the grain free treats. While I’m not impressed with the bandana, I felt since there were four items, it was a much better value than last month. I also found this month to be tied together very nicely with the cactus theme. It seems they spent more time curating it than usual. My dogs and I are very happy!
This month I received 4 items for $15 a month. Because I could only find two retail prices totaling $11.34, if you divide the 4 items by the cost of the box you are paying about $3.75 an item. I feel that is a really good price for the toy and a larger bag of treats. While it is an increase from the retail price of the cookie, I still feel overall it is a good deal and a great month this month!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Items vary from shipment to shipment, so you’re not guaranteed the same items as seen here. Standard orders generally ship around the 10th of each month. If you’ve added special requests to your order (allergies, no plush, tough toys, etc.), this may add additional processing and packing times due to the extra labor involved.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $15 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $3.75.
