Piibu Box May 2019 Review
Esfolio Pure Skin Honey Essence Mask Sheet - Retail Value $3.50
This is one juicy mask. It is overflowing with a clear serum that smells like honey and earth. The mask fit well and the serum was very cooling! I love honey masks but often find them a little sticky, though I am happy to report that this one was the least tacky I have ever used. It left my face feeling plump and very hydrated.
Esfolio Pure Skin Egg Essence Mask Sheet - Retail Value $3.50
For some reason, I always love an egg mask. I think it reminds me of Gudetama. My face reacts well to egg extracts too and always looks extra glowy. I often notice with egg skincare, my pores look much less noticeable after use, which is a big bonus. The formula was similar to the honey mask above, but with a more creamy scent.
G9 Skin Slice Mask in 'Strawberry' - Retail Value $3.00
FYI: We also received this item last month.
I love these little slice masks! The resealable bag is genius and you can't help but feel super adorable with little fruits on your face. They smell like strawberries and are excellent as a mini mask treatment.
G9 Skin Slice Mask in 'Peach' - Retail Value $3.00
FYI: We also received this item last month.
The formula is similar to the one above, but this time with a delightfully peachy scent. I like stashing these resealable pouches in my fridge as a cooling reward after some hot summer gardening or yard work.
*insert heart eyes*
Dewytree Su Bonan Mask - Retail Value $3.50
This mask immediately grabbed my attention with its vibrant and rather kawaii illustration. It contains vetch root extract, and while I have no idea what vetch is or what it does to skin, I can tell you that mine loved this mask. The tan-colored mask fit well and the clear serum had a nice, earthy, rooty scent. The serum was very light and just left a wee bit of tackiness on my face, nothing a little moisturizer couldn't fit.
JayJun Anti-Dust Whitening Mask - Retail Value $4.00
So this mask had a price sticker from Nordstrom Rack on the back that valued it as "Comparable Value $3.90" and listed its Nordstrom Rack cost as $2.90. I have always guessed that some boxes purchase their inventory from discount stores, but c'mon Piibu! Remove that sticker and at least try to pretend like there is a little mystery left in our relationship! I do think I would have found this mask just as luxurious without the Nordstrom connection. The serum was slightly milky in color and felt like pure velvet on my skin. It had a creamy, floral scent. After you remove the mask, you apply an all-over luster ampoule and then eye cream, both included in the pack in separate compartments.
Chica Y Chico Urban Princess Lifting Mask - Retail Value $4.00 (found here on sale for $1.00)
This mask was also a sort of pale tan shade, and the clear serum had a perfumed scent, which was totally in line with the princess theme. The clear serum was very hydrating and contained rose extract.
Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Mask - Retail Value $2.99
I am pretty disappointed that this mask was included in this box for a few reasons. Firstly, this sub is meant to have Korean masks. This one is made in China. Secondly, one of the biggest selling points of this subscription is they send masks you can't get locally. Meaning you can't stumble across the mask brands sent by Piibu in Target, or Walmart, or CVS. I specifically use Korean or Japanese face masks only as a general rule, but I did give this one a try for the sake of this review. It was fine, smelled like shampoo, and did give my skin a ton of moisture. I will still pick a K-beauty mask over this every time though!
Verdict: This month's Piibu Box had more retail value than I have seen in a long time. I am guessing the retail value is around $27.79, which is exceptional for a box that usually delivers under cost. More like this, Piibu! My only complaint is that last big-brand mask. I imagine most subscribers choose this box to receive hard-to-find, unique masks and sending one I can find at my local drug store from a super familiar brand is a no-no in my book. Other than that, this month was likely the best I have ever gotten from this sub!
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You would get the June box. From Piibu Box:
Every month, the last day to subscribe changes. Usually, it’s around the 20th through the 22nd of each month. Therefore, we ship around the 21st through the 23rd of each month.
