Scentbird June 2019 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Hesperides Grapefruit” by Fresh.
There was also an Ulta perfume ad, which I think is a little strange but I guess Ulta just wanted to reach people who are interested in fragrances. (I buy a lot of fragrances from Ulta!)
Hesperides Grapefruit by Fresh – Estimated Value $7.20 (buy 100 mL for $90)
Last month, we received a very new fragrance. This one is older (from 2007, initially) but was new to me. I have not explored this brand much because I haven’t had great luck with their skincare products. But I actually really like this fragrance.
On me, it definitely smells like grapefruit, and strongly so. (One of my favorite fruity fragrances is Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis, which has a similar scent.) There are other citrus notes including orange, lemon, and bergamot, but they are barely noticeable on me. Non-citrus notes include rhubarb, lotus, peach, musk, and jasmine. I can kind of detect the jasmine after I’ve been wearing this for a while, but it’s still strongly citrus.
The only thing I don’t particularly love about this fragrance is that I couldn’t smell it at all after only two hours. It’s cheaper than Pomelo Paradis by a fair bit ($90 for 100 mL instead of $135 for 100 mL) but I’d probably opt for a smaller size of Pomelo Paradis (because let’s be honest about the amount of perfume I have, I’ll never use up a whole 100 mL bottle of anything) instead due to the longevity.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $7.20, which is about half the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Your value will depend entirely on what fragrance you choose and if you care to do the math beforehand, you can come out pretty well. For me, though, this is more about discovering fragrances that will work for me, and if they have a bit of a lower value, I can deal with that. I love this month’s fragrance and will use the whole 8 mL vial in a fairly short time, although I do wish it lasted a bit longer.
Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $7.20 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
