VetPet Box Cat June 2019 Review
Every month, VetPet Box sends toys, supplies, and wellness items:
Included was an information card with more information about the items in the box. Due to some preferences at sign-up, you may not receive every item on the card, and you may occasionally receive an item that is not listed. This month, there was also some product information for one of the items from the box.
There is always educational material in a full-color, fold-out brochure that is sturdy enough for storage and later reference. There is a different theme every month (this material is considered to be one of the benefits of paying for the subscription, so it is not reproduced here). This month, it was about urinary tract issues and litter box habits. This is something we have to watch around my house, what with two cats on prednisolone (Sneaky for asthma, Angus for IBD) plus Monkey’s history of lower urinary tract disease.
All for Paws Goldfish – Retail Value $4.99
This is a canvas-covered catnip toy. I’d call it “medium-sized.” This must’ve had good catnip or a good outer texture (or both) because it made Madison really go nuts. He rolled all over it on the floor (some pictures below, although he was totally covering the toy most of the time). Monkey wanted to rub his face on this (of course).
All for Paws Tuna – Retail Value $4.99
I thought this was a shark but apparently, it is a tuna. At any rate, it is very similar to the goldfish although somewhat smaller (a good size for tossing). My kitties had a very similar reaction to this toy as they did to the goldfish (so it was a hit).
Skout’s Honor Cat Urine and Odor Destroyer, 35 oz. – Retail Value $14.99
Since I received this box, I have not had any of the types of issues this is designed to address (it’s not just for urine, but also vomit, feces, and other assorted unpleasant odors as well as stains). Monkey is working on a giant hairball, though, so I expect I will get to try it out soon. We go through a ton of products of this sort at home so we are always happy to receive another.
Skout’s Honor Litter Box Deodorizer, 4 oz. – Listed Value $10.99 (buy 35 oz. for $14.99)
This is a small sample size that’s not available for sale. You are supposed to spray it in and around litter boxes between cleanings. Monkey has had problems in the past with deodorizers, but there are a couple of boxes that Angus uses and no one else does and I could try this on those (which are the ones that need the most help anyway). So far, so good, but the boxes were just cleaned a little while ago and I do scoop them regularly. We’ll see how it’s going in another week or two.
Yeowww! Stinkies Catnip Sardine – Retail Value $2.99
These are small, tossable catnip toys. Yeowww! toys are some of the best-received cat toys around my house, and cats maintain interest in these for much longer than some other toys. This one also made Madison go crazy, and several other cats were interested as well. My crew is pretty violent with these but they hold up well.
inClover Flow Functional Treats (2.1 oz) – Retail Value $7.49
These are semi-moist treats that are made in the USA. They have various functional ingredients to support urinary tract health. Sneaky likes them and she’ll probably be eating most of them, before and after her asthma treatments. But she also does have a need for a product like this; being on prednisolone messes with her potassium levels and I have to give her potassium supplements already.
Gratuitous cat photos:
Angus is back to playing with toys at the top of the stairs. Well, whatever works. Here he is with some of this month’s toys.
Madison rolls around on some of the toys from the box.
And he checks out the treats, too!
Monkey rubs his face on things. And he tries a treat. He ate it (which is unusual for Monkey as he is not terribly food-motivated). He looks much happier to get a treat than Sneaky does.
Miraculously, I did not end up bleeding from taking these pictures. You’ll have to take my word for it that I was giving her a treat from the box (I was!).
Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the June VetPet Box for cats due to some of the items not being available for purchase in the provided sizes. The toys and treats together come to $20.46 which leaves about $24.54 for the two sprays together. I think urinary tract health is an important issue (perhaps because I have to deal with it all the time – though she is not a cat, Nyx has a stubborn UTI right now) and of course, anything to stop the house from smelling like cat urine is appreciated! Plus, the toys and treats were hits.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? New subscribers usually get an introductory box. However, if you contact VetPet Box, you can get a past month’s box (like say you really want to get the dental one more than once, because your cat has bad teeth).
