Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2019 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month was a super cute palm printed bag with coral interior.

Dillydelight Real Egging Pack, 2 masks - Retail Value $7.99

The packaging for this mask is precious. Open up the cute chicken outer shell and you are left with a faux egg that splits in two, each side sealed off to contain a little clear egg gel mask complete with yellow yolk. Each side also has a built-in spoon that you use to mix the mask, turning it into a heavy, light yellow gel. This is meant to be a sleep mask, though it is really thick and sticky! I made quite a mess on my pillowcase, but my skin did feel amazing in the morning, and my pores had absolutely shrunk a wee bit thanks to the egg extract. There was enough in each side for two masks, though I did store mine in a ziplock bag and I don't think I would sleep in this again because it is so sticky. It might be a great mask for a weekend Netflix binge instead! It has a clean scent that, thankfully, didn't remind me of eggs at all. This is one of the most fun masks I have used in a long time.

Pacifica Bronzed Rose Blush & Bronzer, 28 oz - Estimated Value $23.98

So this item was created exclusively for this sub, though I did find the blush sold solo for $11.99. I couldn't find the bronzer, but I imagine it would have a similar value. I really like these shades! It is rare for me to find a bronzer that I could actually wear, and this soft powder is it. I used this lightly on my face for a glow that was lightly sunkissed. I also liked the blush as well, though I could honestly use that shade as a bronzer too. It wasn't as pink or peach as I generally like my blushes, but I still thought it gave the apples of my cheeks a very pretty, healthy glow.

I like both of these shades very much!

South Seas Mother of Pearl Illuminator Shimmer Lotion, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.06 (Buy a full-size 3.4 fl oz for $24.00)

This lotion is so lightweight and packs a ton of shimmer and glow, while still being really subtle. The shimmer comes from crushed pearls, which feels super glam. My only wish is that it has a better scent, as it has Monoi de Tahiti and should have a gorgeous floral fragrance but doesn't smell much like flowers to my nose personally. It does have an easy-to-like clean scent and is non-sticky, so this is still a winner in my book!

theBalm Cosmetics Eyeshadow in 'He Said, She Said', 0.042 oz- Estimated Value $3.27 (Buy the whole palette with 9 shadows and 2 primers for $36.00)

This is a really pretty shadow! I rather like its soft lilac base and over-the-top gold shimmer. It can be worn lightly for a little bit of glistening, or heavier if you want the purple shade to be much more noticeable. I liked the smooth application and I thought the pigment level was good!

I dig it.

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in 'Where's My Money', 15 ml - Full Size! Retail Value $15.00

I really wanted to love this polish, but I found the formula to be rather runny. The color is very pretty, a pastel lilac that is great for summer and will flatter almost any skin tone. It did have good coverage, though I personally dislike when polish pools at my cuticles.

nail polish on hand

Two coats here.

Verdict: This Ipsy Glam Bag was one of my favorites so far. I absolutely loved the egg mask, blush & bronzer duo, and the eyeshadow. The illuminating lotion was also a hit in my eyes! The nail polish is the only item I am on the fence about, but I really do like the color. I love full-size products and we received 2 this month (maybe 3 if you count the egg mask!). The value this month is excellent, somewhere around $57.30 for a $10 bag. That is a win in my book, any day.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Makeup bag: n/a
  • Dillydelight Egg Mask Pack $1.39
  • Pacifica Blush & Bronzer $4.18
  • South Seas Illumination Lotion $1.23
  • TheBalm Eyeshadow $0.57
  • Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish $2.62

Alternatively, each of the 5 items (not including the makeup bag) has an average cost of $2.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

This month, for the first time ever, I actually got all three add-ons that I purchased and was charged for!! 😁🎉🥂 Let’s hope the shipping things that people pay for continues! 😉🤞

Do people really get good stuff like this in their bags? I got another month of the same old crap…sheet masks and lip gloss in every shade but what is in my preferences. I was actually shocked that there wasn’t a brightening cream or a mascara, too. That’s pretty much what my last 3 bags consisted of. So disgusted with Ipsy, i finally put myself out of my misery and cancelled!!

I didn’t get any of the items Megan received which I’m ok with because our beauty profiles are obviously very different. My bag finally arrived on Wednesday. I’m very happy with my July glam bag items plus I like the makeup bag. I absolutely love the Hempz pineapple & honey lotion I received.

I don’t know what it is about this particular bag this month but IT SMELLS HORRIBLE!!! It is like a chemical smell that makes my stomach churn each time I’m near it….. I am SUPER upset because the bag is adorable but I can’t use it at all! Typically I love my Ipsy but this month i can’t enjoy it due to the smell….

Monica

Really that’s odd. I just smelled my bag and it doesn’t have a scent at all. Too bad because it’s a cute bag.

I’m glad you tried the egg mask overnight so I don’t have to. I was thinking it might make a massive mess!

Megan K.

It was def messy. But hey, thats what washing machines are for, right? Haha! Next time, it will be a couch mask for sure. During a TV binge.

I love my ipsy bag! All the products are amazing each month

StellaMarina

I would have loved these items. I have two subscriptions with two very different profiles and I got the exact same items in each bag. So much for items based on one’s profile!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Wow. That is crazy Stella. I wish I knew more about how Ipsy used the profiles.

Oh! I’m getting the Pacifica duo. It looks beautiful. Can’t wait to receive my bag.

It is really pretty! Hope you love it. 🙂

This is my second month with this bag and the value for $10 is amazing IMO. I also love your reviews and personally like when you post pics of how you used the makeup. My skin color is similar to yours. Since I started my subscription box journey, I’ve been watching tutorials and really stepping outside my neutral box and upping my makeup game 💋💄. I love this blog ladies, keep it up!

Megan K.

Thanks so much Jacqui! I will try to take more photos wearing the makeup in the future. I get nervous sometimes because I am def. NOT a makeup artist! Thanks for reading <3

Megan, you do a good job in my book 🙂 I can’t even hold an eye brush in my hands properly cause I’m so awkward with all of that. lol Once I had a MUA do, what I’m sure is considered, a very basic look on one eye then watched me try to replicate it on the other eye, and after constantly correcting me on my application technique (which was non-existent), she finally looked at my finish product went “whoa. Okayyyy…. let me just tidy that up for ya”. I was like “told ya!!! I’m that bad!” lol!!!! I’ll stick to haphazardly swiping my powder products (foundation, concealer, blush/bronzer, powder) over my face and be done with it all in less than 5 minutes. lol

Great bag! I really wanted that Pacifia duo, but didn’t get it. It wasn’t even in the add-ons unfortunately. 🙁 Oh well, not like I have a shortage of blushes! lol I got the Phase Zero blush in Cotton Candy pink, it is a very pretty matte pink. I like it.

I ended up with The Balm in Ooh La La, matte taupe brown. It was okay, but nothing I will wear so it ended up in my give away box. That purple is very pretty!!

I also got the Murad Vit C cleanser, i love that stuff! The Red Earth oil is pretty nice too, and another Roller Lash which is a mascara I love, so yay!

All in all a great bag for me, the only real miss was the brown eyeshadow! 🙂 Love my Ipsy!

I was also super happy this month. I tried so hard to find a link to that Pacifica duo, even within Ipsy’s shop but I couldn’t. Maybe it will pop up later after this month’s bag is done??

Twyla

Oooo I hope so!! 🤞🏻 I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for it. 😁

Lori

Wow, very envious of this bag! I wanted that nail polish so badly and would have loved that eyeshadow shade! Oh well, hopefully I find a gem or 2 in my bag, as it hasn’t arrived yet!

Lizzie

You’re not missing anything with the polish. Someone on Ipsy reviewer it as “basically pink Wite-Out”, and that’s pretty much dead on. I was surprised to see it described as a universally flattering lilac – mine is Pepto-Bismol pink and went straight to my tween.

My bag items were 100% different. – I got a liquid liner, brow fiber cream, hemp body moisturizer, a ciate highlighter and a mascara.

BAG TWINS!!

What a great bag! I almost added on that egg mask, and I kind of regret not doing so now. I’m also jealous you got the shade of The Balm eyeshadow I wanted…I got the light matte brown shade, and honestly I have so many warm nude palettes that I could dupe that color multiple times within my own makeup collection. (Ipsy also sent me a near-identical shade just two months ago.) I don’t have anything like that lavender, though.

I have always loved Trust Fund polishes. I hope the formula didn’t change with the bottle changes. I preferred the older shaped bottles. I haven’t tried this polish yet though! It arrived the day after i did my nails.

I loooove the bag! Gonna try to make it a wristlet for my trip to South Beach!

That sounds really cute! Great idea.

I think it is a body lotion.

Sorry, wrong spot 🙂

I love how that bronzer/blush duo has a mirror on the bottom! I added on the Dilly masks. The packaging was just so cute I couldn’t resist! 😁

Might want to update the description of the actual bag. Tetris bags were last month, not this month.

Agree that the South Seas illuminator (which just makes my face shiny) smells bad. To me it smells like burnt sugar. I love the smell of monoi and was disappointed that it does not smell like that. Oh well. Thank you for the review.

It’s body lotion just FYI.
