Mama Needs Subscription Box "Mama Needs A Vacay" July 2019 Review

We received several inserts in our box. The green card gives a brief description of the items in our box and also highlights our theme for the month which is "Mama Needs a Vacay" while the second card includes instructions for how to access the Spotify playlist that goes along with this month's theme. On the back, they include some self-care tips, some of which involve using the items in your box. These cards are a great indication of the level of thought that goes into our box curation.

Mama Needs a Vacay Koozie

Our first item this month reiterates our theme on this fun salmon-colored koozie. Mine arrived with a few smudges on it, but nothing a quick scrub won't fix! I really love the color and the simplicity of the phrase, which could not be more true. This will be a fun accessory to use at our next cookout!

The Collector Bracelet by 31 Bits in Mint - Retail Value $14.00

Our next item is another fun accessory from 31 Bits which is a company with a great mission that works with artisans in Uganda to create beautiful, ethically made pieces. This particular bracelet is a fun, beachy style that I could see myself wearing while on vacation! I love the mint color and the various sized beads that are actually made from recycled paper. How cool is that?

Here is the bracelet on. It's a bit chunkier than the bracelets I usually wear, but the color keeps it looking subtle!

They also included a coupon code for 20% off a purchase at 31 Bits.

Teleties Small Hair Coils in Iskra Collection - Estimated Value $7.99

So I saw these in a spoiler for this box and I was a bit disappointed because hair ties like these have been popping up everywhere lately and as someone who receives my fair share of boxes, I wasn't too excited about receiving more; HOWEVER, these are amazing and so different from the others that I have received! Not only do they come from a company that donates to FORCE, but these are a thinner size that I can actually use in my hair (yes, I feel like a total brat for ever doubting these hair coils). The color choices are great and it looks like this is a special edition set that is no longer available.

Here you can see how tiny it is on my wrist. The larger sizes usually feel so awkward and uncomfortable on my wrists and bulky in my hair, but not these! This nude color is my favorite and the one I have been wearing constantly.

Land of Milk and Honey Tinted Lip Balm in Bohemian Glow - Retail Value $11.95

This tinted lip balm is organic and has a glowy metallic finish. I love the fun art deco design of this tube and how tiny it is. It is moisturizing and comfortable to wear thanks to the shea butter and other oils it contains.

Here it is swatched. This packed a lot more shimmer than I expected from the tube!

While I don't typically enjoy a metallic finish on my lips, I love this for a fun summer look. While it is definitely shimmery, it still manages to feel a bit subtle on my lips since it is fairly sheer.

They also sent a nice thank-you note along with a coupon code for 20% off your next purchase from Land of Milk and Honey.

K & S Soapworks Whipped Sugar Scrub in Seaside Escape, 4.5 oz - Retail Value $11.00

We received one of these whipped scrubs in our May box, but I was excited to see another one because it has been one of my favorite items! I had the hardest time discerning what the scent is, but I found it to be tropical, fruity and beachy and not too overwhelming. The website describes the scent as "tender notes of water lily and apple blossom dance on top of sweet sandalwood with soft bergamot." I love the whipped texture of this sugar scrub which has a light exfoliation that leaves my skin smooth and hydrated. The formula is vegan with no parabens or phthalates and is handmade by a small shop in Georgia.

Sphynx Portable Razor - Retail Value $15.00 (found here for $14.49)

This little invention is so great and I really wish it had been around when I was in college and lived and worked at the beach in the summers! This would definitely have come in handy! For now, it is great to put in your pool or beach bag to touch up those areas that mama missed because well....kids! The packaging is super cute as well.

This came with a very detailed booklet to explain the way this portable razor works and how to obtain razor blade and soap refills when you need them.

When you take the top off you will find four different areas that you can access by spinning the little wheel on the front. There are two razor sections so you have a backup razor, a mini bar of soap and the tiniest little spray bottle to fill with water. I tested this out on a small patch of my leg and I was pleased that it did not scrape my leg or leave my skin feeling dry like quick touch-ups sometimes can. While I could never use this little razor to shave a larger area, it is perfect for handling those small missed patches. So handy and pretty cute, too!

Innerglow Wellness Skin Repair Serum: Floral Blend, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $6.00

This last item is actually not listed on our info card, but it came with its own little information sheet. The bottle is only 0.5 oz, but it comes with a dropper and just a drop or two is enough to cover your face so I see this lasting me a long time. It smells of geranium and myrrh and feels very moisturizing. It doesn't feel too heavy to me, but it does take a minute or two to fully absorb so I think I'll stick to using this one at night!

Verdict: This month's Mama Needs Box theme is so true for many mamas! Even though I just came back from vacation myself, I think I could still use another vacay because as most mamas know, vacation with the kids is not quite as relaxing as you hope it will be! I thought this was a really great mix of items that were perfect for summer, but can also still be used at other times of the year. They were practical and pampering and I love that they included items from some brands that have incredible missions! It's hard to pinpoint a favorite, but I think those Teleties are right there at the top followed by the koozie, sugar scrub, and tinted lip balm! I'm also pretty excited to have that Sphynx razor, so overall I'm really happy with this month's box! This box costs $45.99 ($39.99 + $6 shipping) and I estimate the total value of the box to be $65.94, not counting that fun koozie, which is a pretty great value!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

This box is def over priced.
I would never pay 46 dollars to receive these. Ridiculous

Michele

I love this box. Wish I would have gotten it. So much variety. I am a momma but my “baby” is almost 25. But I still would have enjoyed this box. Thanks for a great review.

I think I would have especially liked the hair ties. As I love invisibobble but I do have to use the “invisibobble thin” ones. I, too, have received many in sub boxes but they are always the original ones which are too thick for my tons of fine hair.
