Robb Vices is a monthly luxury subscription box that sends subscribers a carefully curated assortment of high-end lifestyle goods that help you indulge your vices. Look forward to accessories, home decor, electronics, food, kitchen gadgets, booze, booze, and more booze! The subscription is somewhat geared towards guys, but we've found that most of their boxes are perfectly unisex.

The packaging is a real showstopper. It's kind of like opening a suitcase in a Bond movie.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Robb Vices June 2019 Review

Included is a handy booklet with all of our product info. These are always filled with tons of useful info and great images.

LSTN The Gramercy Speaker - Retail Value $129.99

I was really excited to open this because I have been wanting a bigger Bluetooth speaker for dancing in my kitchen at home. I have a few smaller ones but nothing like this! Featuring 2 speakers and a little subwoofer, this 7-inch x 7-inch speaker packs quite a punch. At only 2 inches wide, it has a slim profile that is great for tossing in your bag on the go. It also has wonderful clarity for phone calls.

Our next 4 items are from Gustus Vitae. I received 2 salts and 2 sugars. Each came in a clever tin with a sliding top for sprinkling or pouring. They each also had a magnetic bottom which made them perfect for stacking or stashing on your fridge or any other magnetic surface.

Pink Lemonade Cane Sugar, 2.3 oz - Retail Value $12.50

This sugar is pink and has very mild lemon notes. I feel like it could be more tart, but the mildness would lend itself well to sprinkling over cupcakes or even in a fruity tea to give it a little sweetness and citrus flavor.

Spicy Raspberry Cane Sugar, 2.1 oz - Retail Value $12.50

I hate spicy salty things, but for some reason, I adore spicy-sweet tastes. (I have an addiction for chili covered mango candies!) I tried this sugar on some strawberries and WOW I loved it! It has a great berry taste and a ton of heat.

Spicy Smoked Sea Salt, 2.9 oz - Retail Value $9.99

This salt was a bit much for me. It is SO smoky! Will loves it though, and has sprinkled it on everything from veggies to pizza. I found that the smoke flavor overwhelmed the spice, but if you like that note, you will love this.

Lemon Rosemary Sea Salt, 2.9 oz - Retail Value $9.99

This is a spice blend that I think everyone could love. It reminds me of Thanksgiving! The lemon and rosemary notes are perfect for seasoning poultry or soups.

Misc Goods Co. Playing Cards - Retail Value $15.00

Finally, our last item is a set of modernized playing cards. Some of my fave takeaways: the Queen of Hearts in leopard print, clutching a voodoo doll, the King of Clubs with a monocle and a quiver of arrows, while his wife is smoking a pipe and holding a dagger with a tattooed hand. I am somewhat less crazy about the dark and gloomy Ace cards, complete with sayings such as "You are going to die and all that you own will one day vanish. Deal with it." I found a rather interesting write-up on the symbolism behind these cards here, if you want to dive in deeper! The cards feel like they are sturdy, and they have a nice waterproof coating.

Verdict: This Robb Vices box felt like it was incomplete. Maybe I have been spoiled by the customary bottle of booze that usually arrives n my box each month? This just didn't feel like a $144.90 box. Last month also felt lacking value-wise, so I am really hoping for something spectacular next month. Don't get me wrong, everything in this box was just fine, and I especially loved the high-quality and beautifully designed speaker. I liked the salts and sugars but I don't usually get super excited about things like that. The playing cards were creative but also not super unusual or exciting. The overall value here is around $189.97. I generally expect more from this subscription value-wise, so fingers crossed for next month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 1st of the month to receive that month's box.

ACTIVE DEAL: Save $50 off your first subscription (LUXURY50) or receive a FREE Altec Lansing ALT-500 Bluetooth Turntable valued at $149 (TURNTABLE.)

Value Breakdown: This box costs $144.90 ($129.95 + $14.95 shipping to PA) meaning each of the 8 items has an average cost of $24.15.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

On Instagram, Robb Vice is advertising a box with the speaker and cards, plus nice sun glasses and a bottle of Mezcal…much better deal…

I was pretty disappointed with this box, as well as the one before. I’m paying $129 and feel ripped off. If they don’t step it up I will be cancelling.

The Gustus Vitae spices have been on Zulily recently for a steep discount and their website routinely has 40% off sales. Just an FYI for anyone who wants to try them.

Wow, not good, where’s the curation?

That’s what I was thinking. It felt like super random items together. Plus isn’t this like the 3rd speaker in the past 2 years or less? They super inflate the values as all of the items can be found on sale elsewhere, except for the playing cards but let us get real who would pay $15 for 1 deck of cards? I just do not get this sub any longer.

Ouch. Feel bad for the people that bought this box. The Exact speaker is available in the fab fit fun edit sale for $69.99 😭

And o got the spices from FFF for a few bucks too. I have a stack of them in my cabinet. This box is a horrible rip off. I pity anyone that has spent that kind of cheddar on it.

Sometimes boxes go down hill. This box was a lot better in the past, 2 years ago when the price was only $80!

Now.. I’m disappointed and way too much $.

This box used to knock me off my feet in awe, now not so much.

I never thought I would cancel, but I just did. The boxes have gone downhill significantly, there’s no “story,” no real hero item, it’s more of a mismash of random stuff sent to me in a box. It used to feel like I had a shopper who knew me at Neiman Marcus. Now it feels like someone is just shopping the clearance section at HomeGoods and throwing it in a box.

Karen

Exactly! But they’re still charging the Neiman Marcus price!

Christi

FFF had a bunch of those spices available as addons in the last box for obviously a lower cost.

FFF also had the speaker this round of add-ones at $69. I do like it, easy to tote around the house or take to the pool. I still get the Founder’s price so boxes like these are more tolerable than if they were full monthly price. Also their higher priced boxes are great.

FFF also has the exact same speaker available in the summer edit sale for $69. Choice of white or black.

I agree that this box has REALLY slipped. When you can buy all of the components within a box for less money than the cost of the box, it’s so depressing. Why pay more for things you might not even want? You’re better off picking the exact items you want and saving money at the same time. …sigh…

So long Robb Vices. It was fun (a long long time ago).
