Organyc Cotton Tampons (7 ct)
Just a note for our readers—I’m more of a pad girl so I’m a bit biased (*´∀`*) Swim season has started, which means these tampons will be put to good use! Organyc tampons are hypoallergenic, made with 100% pure, organic, and unbleached cotton.
Many tampons use a plastic tube covering, but these use flushable cardboard; however, I still throw the covering away rather than flushing it just in case. For swimming season, I usually use Tampax Pure organic cotton tampons, which uses a 90% plant-based plastic covering. Personally, I felt the cardboard entrance was a bit uncomfortable, but there’s not too big of a difference 。(*^▽^*)ゞ It’s worth it to help the environment!
I appreciated the inclusion of the small booklet that showed diagrams and detailed instructions for first-time tampon users on insertion, as well as helpful warnings to change tampons regularly to prevent infections. I received 4 regular (yellow) and 3 heavy (green) sized tampons.
Yejimiin Sanitary Pads (2 ct) + Organic Born Sanitary Pads (6 ct)
Yejimiin pure organic cotton pads use a mix of 5 herbs, ganghwa mugwort, motherwort, sophora, angelica, and mint, to mask the unpleasant odor of menstrual blood without the use of artificial and chemical fragrances.
These pads are a little stiff, but I noticed the absorption was very strong and appeared clean due to the very porous texture of the cotton. I liked the leakage protection lines that surrounded the entire pad as well. I received 2 Ultra Slim pads.
Organic Born pads are made with organic cotton and feature thick prevention lines to stop menstrual blood from leaking sideways, embossing to prevent loosening of pad threads, and an extra cushion layer in the middle. I found these pads very soft, un-diaperlike, and I appreciated the middle cushion—they felt and absorbed better, making them suitable for the first days of my period.
The inclusion of pantiliners was nice, as I typically use a tampon and a pantiliner together (just to be safe). These were light, soft, and felt like air! I received 2 pantiliners. The large pads, even with the longer length, did not stick to my skin even while sweating in the hot weather or sitting down for long periods of time. I appreciated the thick wings that prevented any blood on my underwear. I received 2 small and 2 medium pads.
So… why does it matter what material our tampons and pads are made of? Organic and unbleached cotton feminine products are free of synthetic elements and fragrances carry a much lower risk of toxic shock syndrome, or TSS. The organic material doesn’t have potentially harmful ingredients that increase risk of bacteria and other infections—big thank you to Rose War Panty Power for providing such products! You can find additional information on their usage of organic products here.
Goodwipes in Shea-Coco and Rosewater (2 ct)
These wet wipes are good for down there anywhere, both during that time of the month and just for a nice freshen up. These are biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and flushable wipes free of parabens and made with natural tea tree, peppermint, and ginseng oils for a cooling effect. The two wipes did not have any strong scents, just a slight touch of fresh soap smell for Shea-Coco and a very faint rose smell. These aren’t oversaturated with product and make me feel so clean!
Z Skin Cosmetics Simply Night Lotion – Retail Value $19.00, Listed Value $18.00
Z Skin Cosmetics is a handcrafted and cruelty-free blend of organic oil, extracts, and herbs to create one’s flawless complexion. This night lotion is a simple combination of argan oil, vitamin E, citrus extracts, almond extracts, almond, tea tree, rosehip, and sesame oils to even the complexion and lighten dark marks. While there aren’t any fancy trending ingredients we often see, it’s nice to stick with the basics at times with oils similar to those naturally found in our skin.
I passed this lotion to my mother, and she uses it during her break days from retinoids. The scent found in the gel cream is lavender and does not irritate my mother’s sensitive skin. Though she was unable to test the product for a long period of time, she appreciated the basic ingredients in the blend and its intense hydration and softness she noticed in the morning.
Organic Rose Lip Glaze – Retail Value $15.00
Isn’t this so pretty?! I had to take a picture of this lip oil blend in the sun because I loved the aesthetic. I was expecting the glaze to be a thin oil, but it was very close to a clear gloss with a lovely peppermint smell with a hint of bergamot. The vitamin E and castor oil help smooth over my dry lips, and I love the rollerball applicator. This lip oil, along with other skincare oils, can be found at Enter Lauryn’s Garden Etsy shop.
Cram Relief Salve – Retail Value $12.00, Listed Value $10.00
Mystic Ginger Apothecary is an organic hair studio and local artist boutique with handcrafted herbal products. Their cram relief salve is composed of organic herbs, local beeswax, and clary sage essential oils. Last review, I mentioned I suffered from stress-period cramps, but I’m happy to say this month I’m cramp free \(^▽^)/
Clary sage essential oil is known for its antidepressant and stress relief effects. For me, after rubbing a little bit on my temples, I felt more relaxed and a little bit sleepy. For cramps, it’s recommended to massage a little bit of the balm on your abdomen and lower back area to alleviate the pain. Though I have yet to test it for menstrual cramps, I was quite happy to have a healthier Advil 😉
Bling Bling Glass 4-in-1 Nail Shiner – Listed Value $15.00
I like to have 1-2 coats of topcoat on my nails now and then. I’ve never really invested time or been interested in color manicure (mostly because I like my pink bare nails!), but sometimes a little shiny layer brings a smile! This glass nail shiner buffs your nails to give a top-coat like shine. I was doubtful whether this little bar would work, but wow, it does!! Though a little difficult to maneuver around my curved nails, and won’t be a product I’ll use too often, it was a lovely Netflix & nail time I gave to myself ♡
Hard Candy (2 pcs)
I received 2 pieces of strawberry candy. Though I’m usually not a fan of sweets, sometimes we all need a burst of plain sugar to get through the day, which this little strawberry did!
French Pie Grape Jam Flavor (1 pc)
This Korean pie mimics the layers found in French pastry, laminations, with a flaky, buttery pastry topped with a sweet grape jam. The hardened sugar syrup and sugar crystals added a slight sweetness to the pastry portion. Of course, during this time of the month, all pastries are welcome!
I like the extra packaging efforts Rose War Panty Power makes—the panties came safe and protected in a little pink bag! This month, we got three~
Black Period Panties
Oopsies… I’m using these as my gym shorts! Many gym shorts I’ve tried give me camel toe, so I tend to lean towards leggings-style shorts. The stretch of these panties is incredible, and I just love the little bows. The fabric is thick and tight enough to hide my pad—perfect for me!
Red Lace Panties
Another win. The lace is beautiful, not itchy, and the panty isn’t too tight or loose. I’m usually not a fan of panties with a V-style hem (prefer a straight hem) but for some reason, perhaps it’s the bold color that I fell in love with?!
Wine Panties
I actually already use these panties! Firstly, love the purple-maroon light wine color. These panties I really like the swimsuit-like fabric texture and how nicely it shapes my behind. It’s always nice to return to the basic and simple forms ♡
Note: Because I use tampons solely for athletic/water-related activities, I used additional pads I already had in possession (Whole Foods + Always mix).
Verdict: I had fallen in love with Rose War Panty Power from the first curation, and this month is no different. I felt safe and happy using the organic cotton products provided and was touched by the team’s usage of only safe products for us! The included simple but powerful night lotion with beautiful ingredients, the salve that has (mostly) replaced my Advil, and the lovely panties were so fun to discover. Opening my Rose War Panty Power box when I start my period always brings a smile to my face, especially with the little packaging details of bows, and the sweets!
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, you will August's curation. From Rose War Panty Power:
"Sign up by the last day of each month to receive our current box. Possible exception for your very first box. We might be able to ship it sooner!"
Value Breakdown: This box cost $29.20 ($25.20 + $4.00 total with shipping), which means each of the 10 items (counting the snacks as one) costs $2.90. I calculated a retail value of $61.00, which exceeds twice the box value! I consider a large part of the subscription’s value the curation, design, and more pleasant experience given during some of our hardest times, but this is just my personal opinion!
