Scent Box June 2019 Review
This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”
The information card has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side.
In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month and the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.
On to the fragrance:
Pink Fresh Couture by Moschino – Estimated Value $9.92 (buy 50 mL for $62)
You can see the bottle design in the picture of the information card. I have to say, and this is purely a personal preference, but the bottle design does not appeal to me at all. I don’t like the idea of spraying perfume from something that looks like a bottle of glass cleaner (of course the sample vial is not like that). I like pretty, decorative perfume bottles. But I digress.
This was introduced in spring of 2017 and is still being sold, which is a nice change of pace, as Scent Box has been sending some discontinued fragrances lately. This has grapefruit listed as a top note but I am not getting grapefruit out of it at all. May just be my body chemistry. The other top note is rose, but I’m not really getting that either. (Top notes, by definition, are short-lived, so that may be part of it – stronger base and mid notes in the blend may be more prominent.)
Mid notes include pomegranate, black currant, and hyacinth, and base notes include lily of the valley, cedar, musk, and ambroxan. I feel like this is lightly woody (that’s the cedar) with some generic fruit and flowers going on, and I think I notice a touch of the musk as well. (The generic aspect of fruit and flowers may be simply because there are 2-3 of each type of note present at similar levels.)
This one will be good for when I want to wear a light fragrance but not be too noticeable. I will probably reach for it occasionally and I don’t hate it, but I am also not super enthusiastic about it. That’s purely a personal preference, though, and I can see how opinions would vary.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $9.92. I am happy to receive a fragrance that hasn’t been out for too long and is still available for purchase. I think this one is interesting and I can see being in the mood for it sometimes, but it doesn’t hit any of my really favorite spicy, woody notes (with the exception of a bit of cedar).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $9.90 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
