Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $24.00 for new VIP members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Long story short, this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages like other services do. (But they will automatically charge you if you take no action.) You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Streak Outfit, Size M Bra, Size L Shorts - Retail Value $109.90, VIP Price $59.95

Here's the two-piece outfit I picked for this month. You may notice that these shorts are the same "Olesia" style from last month's review—I liked the fit so much that I made sure to pick an outfit that included them. The bra, however, is a totally new experience for me. I've never tried one of Fabletics' high-impact styles, and frankly, I was curious.

The bra in this outfit is called the Ella High Impact Zip Front Sports Bra. As the name suggests, it's a little more heavy duty than previous medium- or low-impact styles I've tried in the past. It also secures in the front with a zipper, which is a design I haven't seen in my other Fabletics bras.

I'm not very busty, so note that my experience with this bra is probably very different from that of someone with a larger size. That said, I felt super secure in this piece. The fabric (89% Polyester/11% Elastane) is really sturdy, but not uncomfortable (though the band, which is made of stiffer fabric, is a little less forgiving than those on other lower-impact styles I've tried). To me, the design of the criss-crossing back straps doesn't really "go" with the more utilitarian style of the front of the bra, but it does help keep my back cool. If you unzip the zipper all the way, it can be a little tricky to get the bra back together—there are little flaps surrounding it to keep the hard pieces from rubbing against your skin, but that means there's a bit of maneuvering to do to get the zipper together and pulled up without a snag. But once you're in, you're in, safe and sound!

These Olesia shorts are awesome, as I expected. I forgot to mention that this outfit was displayed on the Fabletics site in a two-tone green colorway—I hopped into the outfit details and was able to change up the colors/patterns of both pieces to solid black. (Much more my style.) These shorts have a base layer that fits like a pair of leggings and an overlay made from a looser, stretchy fabric. It's not swishy like some running shorts can be, but the fit is looser. It's a flattering touch, even though it fits closely on my wider hips. The best part of these shorts, though, is probably the wide waistband, which sits in place nicely and doesn't pinch in nor hang too loosely.

The Verdict: Fabletics is one of my favorite clothing subscriptions. The pieces feel similar to what I've seen at places like Athleta or even Lululemon, but usually cost less (especially when you buy pieces as part of an outfit). The fit generally works pretty well for me (though I wish the band around the bottom of the bra was a little less stiff), and the products wear and wash really, really well. (And that's coming from someone who usually just tosses everything in a cold-water wash). Lately, the colors and patterns offered on Fabletics haven't totally been my taste. I've got my fingers crossed for some cool new looks as we head into fall.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this outfit if you sign up today? Yes, though some sizes are sold out. Check it out here.

Value Breakdown: This outfit cost $109.90 at retail, but the VIP price was just $59.95. That's a savings of about 45%!

I was disappointed with my last order from them. I love the Mila pants, but the camo ones felt like hard plastic, the dress I got was for a size B bra size at most (I didn’t see any reference to that in the reviews or description), and the pads in the bra were so permanently creased that they made me look like I had hills on my chest. All 5 things had major issues. I called and sent it all back for a refund. It is nice that they worked with me on that (yay good CS). I’m trying again this month. I hope it was just a fluke that everything felt so cheap.

Anna – does the base layer on the shorts ride up? I love the style of these, but I’m worried that one lunge and they’ll be all up in my business.

I love those shorts. I got a pair last month in highlighter color (haha – I can’t remember the actual name, but they are BRIGHT). They are so comfy for working out and lounging!
