The JoJo Siwa Box Summer 2019 Review
My daughter was excited to see a pink box full of pink stuff since it is her favorite color (for this week, at least!). At the top of our box was this little card with pictures and details about each of the items in the box. It looks like there are six items so let's see what we received:
JoJo Collectible Vinyl Toy
This is our third collectible JoJo vinyl toy that we have received (the first was Fall 2018 and the second was Spring 2019) and these are one of my daughter's favorite items, so she was so happy to see this! While they are listed as a collectible toy, she likes to play with them as dolls and they frequently interact with her Barbies.
The detail on these is really great and the bow in her hair is even removable. I love that the jacket is sparkly and that there are some adorable bows on her sneakers. The only thing that is a bit frustrating to my daughter is that she comes on a stand. I know these are supposed to be collectible, but I'm wondering how many of the girls who subscribe to this box are actually using these for display versus using them as toys? She would much rather have a doll that can move, but she is also pretty creative, so it doesn't affect her playing!
JoJo Bow
This season they brought back the bows due to popular demand! My daughter was excited to see a new bow, so I think they made the right choice! This one is really pretty with the glittery blue bow on top of the sparkly pink tulle layer. These are always nicely made and they stand up to my daughter running around and playing and removing them by herself, so I'm happy with the quality!
The bows are a decent size and the thicker fabric that they use always helps them to lay nicely in her hair.
Foldable Tote Bag
This next item is what my daughter called her "own shopping bag" and she thought it was fun that it unfolded from the small cell phone shaped pouch. This nylon bag is really thin and light and I think the quality is decent for what it is, but those straps are pretty thin, so we'll have to see how it holds up to some weight in it. The designs are cute with ice cream, pineapples and of course, JoJo faces all over it and I like how the outer pouch becomes a tiny little pocket inside the larger bag, although it won't hold much.
Here she is with her new bag!
Portable Fan
When I first saw this I had two thoughts: this looks a bit cheap and ugh, I'm going to have to install batteries. Then I took it out of the box and realized I was wrong on both of those!
This little portable fan is really cute and it's a perfect size, really. It will fit inside a bag to take with you, but it is still big enough to actually make a difference and it runs really smoothly!
It also operates on a rechargeable battery and came with a little micro-USB cord to charge it. It has a little red light on the side that indicates when it is on, when it needs to be charged (it will flash), and when it is finished charging.
In addition to being a portable, handheld fan, it also came with this little stand so that you can set it down to turn it into a desktop fan. So neat! It also came with a spare power button in the base, which is nice, but the button actually seems to be nice quality and doesn't stick, so I am hopeful we won't ever need to replace it.
The fan easily operates with a simple and light touch of the power button. You can then push it a second or third time for increasingly faster speeds. Pushing it a fourth time will turn it back off. My 16-month-old actually operated this with ease and was loving it (with supervision, of course!). The fan is pretty well protected, too, so I wasn't worried about his little fingers. This is probably my favorite item in the box, although if you ask my daughter, her favorite item is "everything!"
Wall Decals
The next item is a set of three wall decals. I really love the colorful heart pineapple one! The one with JoJo on it was a bit odd to me at first, but I guess this is really like a modern version of hanging a poster on your wall! Kids stuff is so much more convenient these days! These were fun and my daughter was excited about them.
I didn't want to commit to this pineapple on my wall so the ends are sticking up here, but I wanted to show that the decals are actually clear around the edges so they will blend in a bit with the wall.
JoJo Rainbow Charm
The last item in the box is our collectible JoJo charm and this sparkly rainbow with a happy cloud face at the end is pretty cute!
It easily fits on our charm bracelet! Each quarterly box comes with a charm to add to the bracelet that came in the very first box which you can order separately here (for $6.99). New subscribers can also add the bracelet to their subscription for a discounted rate ($3.99) when you check out.
I have to say, my daughter has no idea who JoJo Siwa is and only knows her from receiving these boxes, but each season she is so excited for everything that comes in these boxes! Today she decided to dress up just like her new JoJo doll which was also all in pink. Honestly, she is pretty easy to please and gets excited about anything she receives in the mail, but it definitely brings a smile to my face seeing how much fun she has with these toys!
Verdict: This summer's JoJo Siwa Box didn't quite have the same fun summer vibe our Summer 2018 box did, but it seems like they are making sure to listen to subscriber feedback and including what people love, such as the fun, signature bows. I was a little sad that there was no shirt or another apparel item this season because those are some of the items she gets the most use out of, but she was really happy with what she received, so I can't complain! She has been playing with her doll and using her fan all day and I know she will definitely be using the bow and tote bag. The wall decals are cute and the charm for this month was another great one. The only item whose quality I am not totally convinced of is the tote bag, but considering we have never had an issue with any item from this box in over a year of receiving it, I'm not really too worried! At $37 ($30+ $7 shipping) for this box and a total of 6 items, that gives each item an average value of about $6.17, which is definitely fair for cute, exclusive items that you can't get anywhere else!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication the Summer box is still available. If you are interested in this box, I suggest signing up soon since these do tend to sell out quickly!
Value Breakdown: This box costs $30 + $7 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $6.17.
