MightyFix August 2019 Review
Each box includes an info card telling you about the featured item and how the item they chose to send you helps your house be “greener,” and you be “healthier!” This month’s featured item is the GoSili coffee cup. The back of the info card gives five reasons for using the GoSili coffee cup.
GoSili Silicone Travel Mug, 16 oz – Retail Value $14.95
This teal 16 oz silicone travel mug is BPA, BPS, phthalate, PVC, and lead-free. This is a MightyFix item due to the silicone material which is non-toxic compared to plastic, hypoallergenic, doesn’t react to liquids in the mug and no unwanted scents transmit into my beverage from the mug. I opted to have hot tea in the travel mug. It has a sturdy grip so no slipping. The travel mug is not insulated so it was warm to the touch; not so hot as to not be able to hold. Since it's not insulated my hot tea became lukewarm by mid-morning. Instead, I will be pouring my favorite cold beverage into the silicone travel mug and will pass on hot tea. This silicone travel mug is dishwasher and microwave safe.
Here is a look at the back of the mug with the lid on the side, as well as information on silicone. The silicone material is a better sustainable alternative; there are no toxic chemicals, it can withstand severe temperatures (doesn’t keep hot beverages hot and when hot liquids are in the mug it’s hot to the touch), and it can be boiled for sterilization. A useful tip is if the silicone travel mug has lingering odors from your beverages just rinse with hot water, rub with white vinegar or lemon, soak in baking soda and hot water, and run through the dishwasher again.
Verdict: This month’s MightyFix was a better selection from last month. I love how pliable the mug is and easy for travel. I’m disappointed that the mug didn’t keep my tea hot and the mug was warm to touch; there’s a warning on this on the circular label on the mug. This will go in my bag or stored in my car. Also, readers have mentioned in previous reviews that they already received a product I was reviewing. This month’s retail value is $14.95, slightly higher than previous months which have been around the $12.00 range.
