August 2019 No Make No Life Box "Ready, Set, Glow" Review

The booklet list gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. This month's theme is 'Ready, Set, Glow.'

EYENLIP Snail Essential Cream, 30 g - Retail Value $2.24

I generally like snail skincare but I found this formula to be a little too sticky for my taste. I also was surprised that it didn't have much of a scent even though the front had roses on it. Regardless of stickiness, it was a very hydrating, heavy gel, so I could see myself experimenting with it before my nightly moisturizer and a healthy dose of sleep.

TONYMOLY Petit Bunny Gloss Bar, 10 g - Retail Value $6.13

How freaking cute is this balm?! I love TONYMOLY products because they are always incredibly precious. The balm itself was lightweight and sheer, with a pinky-purple tint that I really liked. It also had a sweet fruity scent.

Aurora Crayon-Me Multi-Gloss, 10 g - Retail Value $2.24

This formula smelled like straight-up plastic and other chemicals that I don't want to smell in anything that is going on my face. It is a shame, because the shimmer here is very pretty. An iridescent blend of ice and purple, this would be stunning on lips or lids - if you can get past the smell.

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher, 36 g - Retail Value $7.88

I feel like super kawaii makeup is my kryptonite. It was love at first sight for this adorable blush compact and powderpuff. The color is great; a true baby pink that is natural and also very retro at the same time. It was one of those blushes that was hard to over-do thanks to the soft puff applicator.

Top to bottom: Lip balm, topper, and blush.

Choosy Hydrogel Lip Moisturising Mask - Retail Value $1.27

I can't stand mint chocolate chip as a flavor, so this was a no go for me. I have used other masks by this brand and I liked them. They made my lips feel softer and the lip-shaped gels are super fun.

Awappecino Foaming Tool & Cleansing Powder Set - Retail Value $10.00

I have kind of always wanted a cleanser foamer so this was really fun to see inside the box. Basically, you put some of the included powder OR your fave cleanser into the bottom, fill with water, then pump the lid until it turns into a rich foam. I found it worked really well with a couple of my cleansers, both gels and creams. Does foaming your cleaner really do anything beneficial? I don't know. But it sure is fun and you can make a bubble beard with the extra.

Deve Foaming Face Cleanser, 150 g - Retail Value $4.92

I like rose scented products even if they can lean a little mature for some people. This is a nice creamy cleanser with a soft floral fragrance. It did a great job of removing my makeup without stripping my skin too dry. It also worked exceptionally well with the foamer above!

Refreshing Choco Mint Face Mask - Retail Value $1.76

Ugh, another choco mint item. I realize this might be a popular flavor in Japan, but the smell makes me feel ill. I am passing this to a friend who likes the scent.

Verdict: No Make No Life Box, once again, leaves me feeling torn. I absolutely died over two of the items: the bunny balm and powder puff blush. These are exactly the sort of items I want to see in a box like this! They also had decent values compared to the other items. The cleanser foamer was another win and likewise, had a higher retail value. The rest of the box was just ok. The snail serum and rose cleanser were both fun to try, even if they don't become staples of my routine. The lip and face mask and the shimmery topper all had scent issues I couldn't get past. In typical nmnl fashion, the value here isn't great. This box has a value of around $36.44, which is barely above the subscription cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will most likely get the September box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35.00 + free shipping, which means that each of the 8 items in the box has an average cost of $4.38.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
