Scentbird August 2019 Review

This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:

There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Beautiful Times” by Nanette Lepore.

Beautiful Times by Nanette Lepore – Estimated Value $20 (Buy 10 mL for $25)

I like this one a lot. I sprayed it on without reading anything about it and I noticed that it was kind of sweet. Also I really liked it as time went on. Well, base notes are sandalwood (one of my favorites) and caramelized sugar (I love sweet fragrances like Pink Sugar and Prada Candy). So it was a win for me because of those.

Mid notes include violet and ylang ylang. I am not super into florals but this really isn’t a floral perfume. Ylang ylang is not my favorite scent on its own, but it works really well in this blend. (There may or may not also be rose here, the product website mentions it but doesn’t include it in the list of notes, and I can’t really pick out any rose.)

Top notes are bergamot, mandarin, and orange, so three citruses, but this isn’t really a citrus fragrance either. On me, the base notes win out, and I am fine with that because I think they are wonderful.

This is cruelty-free if that is of concern to you.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $20, which is several dollars above the cost of the subscription. There’s not a lot of information about this fragrance out there yet (I couldn’t find a Fragrantica page) so I think it must be fairly new. Getting the “scent of the month” is a bit hit or miss for me, but this was definitely a hit. I would buy this in full size.

Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $20 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).

Just in case, Scentbird now also has skincare, makeup and even candles to choose from! I have been using it for skincare and just got a Full-size Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow moisturizer. 😊

That is true, but just wanted to point out that most good brand skincare is considered premium and requires an extra $5 to $10 dollars making the glow recipe 24.95, still a great deal so I grabbed one myself 🙂 but most of us are used to ipsy’s 5 full size items for the same price. Also, happy to report customer service has been amazing and prompt in fixing issues, even received a free fragrance with my purchase. Thanks Natalia. Im a happy camper;)
