BomiBox Luxe "Soothe & Protect" 2019 Review
It's worth noting that I've been experiencing shipping delays with this subscription, which is notoriously late. This is technically the July box that tracked as an August box. Hopefully, these shipping discrepancies will be ironed out in the future. With that, let's get into the review.
With the extreme heat and air-conditioned environments, this month's BomiBox Luxe is filled with ingredients to soothe and protect your skin.
BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card describes all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.
Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Marine Collagen Micro Cleansing Water, 8.45 oz – Retail Value $17.60 (found here on sale for $11.44)
This cleansing water is fragrance- and paraben-free and leaves your skin clean and looking youthful. It contains hydrolyzed pearl extract to brighten and tone skin and marine-collagen and fermented yeast to improve skin elasticity.
I loved how this cleansing water gently removed the final traces of makeup and dirt from my skin. It wasn't irritating or drying, and my skin felt fresh and clean after using it.
I’m Sorry for My Skin Daily Calming Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++, 1.35 oz – Retail Value $24.20 (found here on sale for $3.99)
This screen provides powerful protection against UVA that causes skin aging and UVB that causes redness. I'm Sorry for My Skin says that all 59 ingredients are safe for all skin types and children.
A total of 59 ingredients seems like a lot to me but maybe I never paid enough attention to the number of ingredients in sunscreen! This is by far the best smelling sunscreen I've used. It doesn't have the smell or the texture of typical sunscreen. It does gray out my skin tone a bit but not drastically so. I like it.
It’s Skin Tiger Cica Miniature Kit, 8 ml per jar – Retail Value $11.00 (found here on sale for $6.99)
This exclusive set features two new products from It's Skin – the gel cream and the moisturizing balm. The lightweight and hydrating gel-cream helps soothe skin and protect against environmental factors. The moisturizing balm gently moisturizes and soothes irritated skin.
I enjoyed using both creams in this mini set. They both have a clean and fresh scent. They smell like high-end spa products! The gel-cream is lightweight and perfect for laying and for use during the day. The moisturizing balm is thick but absolutely what my dry irritated skin needs at the moment. This is my favorite of the two.
Jumiso Have a Good Cream Snail & Centella, 0.52 oz – Estimated Value $8.00 (Buy full size 1.7 oz for $24.00, found on sale here for $16.80)
This daily moisturizer is good for all skin types. It contains snail mucin and Centella extract known to hydrate and soothe skin and fade dark spots.
I suffer from hyperpigmentation so any product that claims to help fade dark spots is a win for me. This cream is a little thin, lightweight and fast-absorbing so, it works well under make-up and as a good daily moisturizer. It doesn't seem best suited for really dry skin that requires intense moisture.
CosRX One Step Original Clear Kit, 1.2 ml, 5 ml, 21 ml – Retail Value $4.00
Perfect for oily and acne-prone skin, this clear kit looks like a simple sheet mask but it contains a cleanser, toning pad, and a healing mask, hence the three different volumes listed. The cleanser is the Low Ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser, the toner is the One Step Pimple Clear Pads, and the mask is the Holy Moly Snail Mask.
I’m acne free at the moment! My new skin regimen is working to fight the acne but now it's dry and irritated. Although I'm unable to use this product right now, I do love the unique concept behind this kit. You have everything you need - a cleanser, toner, and mask for a complete facial treatment.
Real Barrier Cleansing Oil Balm, 0.35 oz – Estimated Value $2.39 (Buy a full-size 100 g here for $23.87)
This moisturizing cleansing oil will leave your skin feeling ultra-hydrated. It’s made with a natural blend of bergamot oil, marjoram oil, and chamomile oil and is infused with shea butter, olive oil, safflower seed oil, and vitamin E.
I enjoyed using this oil balm and other Real Barrier products I've tried. My only complaint is that this is a super tiny one-wash sample.
I’m Sorry for My Skin Galactomyces Drylock Mask, 0.85 oz – Retail Value $5.50
This anti-aging mask contains 69% of galactomyces and promises to strengthen the skin and help it maintain moisture for a youthful glow.
I received a bunch of masks this month and this was one that I could try! It’s highly recommended for dry skin and would otherwise be a great winter mask. The mask itself is super soft and has a pretty design on one side. It left my skin feeling great. I'll need to purchase more of these.
innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask in Lime, 0.67 oz – Retail Value $1.21
This water-type mask contains moisture from fresh limes which are known to give skin a bright and clear complexion.
The mask has a fresh and clean scent which is refreshing. I applied the mask but didn’t leave it on for the full amount of time because it was slightly irritating to my skin. This may be more of an issue with my skin than the product. I’ve liked the other innisfree mask I’ve tried.
The Verdict: I enjoyed trying out all the products in this month’s box. The moisturizing balm in the It’s Skin Tiger Cica Miniature Kit is my favorite. It smells so good and moisturized my severely dry skin. Two other products were impressive to me. The I'm Sorry for My Skin sun cream didn't look or smell like sunscreen at all. I also love the concept behind the CosRX One Step Original Clear Kit. It has everything you need for a full facial treatment.
This box cost $38.99 and has an estimated retail value of $73.90. Compared to recent boxes, this box has less retail value and is not quite double the price of the box itself. However, it is still a good value. BomiBox Luxe consistently delivers good value and the opportunity to try a wide range of unique Korean beauty products.
