CHC Vintage Outfit September 2019 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what I received this month:

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. The level of detail just gives me the feeling that the people at CHC Vintage are really excited by what they do.

I find that my preferences are really listened to, as well. I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts and what I received this month (see below) is definitely a length that works for me.

Yellow Sweater and Green Wool Skirt

The card this month talked about transitioning to fall which is kind of hard for me to think about when it is still in the 90s daily here (and has been for over a week). These are listed in the card as being from the 1950s – 1980s.

Anyway. I do like the colors (although I note that they are the same as my junior high school colors…). They are bright and vibrant and definitely not neutral, which is my preference, and they are dark enough that I can wear them (unlike some lighter yellows and lime greens, which reflect off my skin and make me look queasy). As you can see, I even have some matching shoes (I also have matching yellow shoes…).

I am not sure the bulky sweater look is flattering on me but I also know I am my own worst critic. I tend to gravitate towards more fitted garments when left to my own devices. I may try it with a few different bottoms to see how that goes (and there were some styling suggestions in the card).

I am going to have to investigate wool care because I really don’t know how to make the skirt smoother but I also have some time because right now this is just a touch too small for me (I am sorting through some medication/bloating/calorie issues at the moment). CHC Vintage does have a really good exchange policy, which I have taken advantage of in the past, but I am pretty sure I can make this work by the end of the year, when it will finally be cool enough to wear anyway!

Vintage Acrylic Necklace

You also get one accessory with this subscription. I am wearing this in the picture but here is a closer view. Based on my knowledge of vintage beads I would say this is mostly acrylic with some metal accents. But vintage acrylic beads are way more fun than modern ones because there are so many sizes and colors and styles that aren’t made anymore. And this goes with several other items in my wardrobe, as well.

Verdict: I am getting a better sense of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Outfit subscription. I said I was open to outfits from different decades and I have really gotten items originating in the 1940s through the 1990s. Everything has been in wonderful shape (this month included) and all the bottoms have been a length I was happy with (I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts). I’ve received lots of colors and prints and a variety of interesting accessories including some very cute small evening bags and some good everyday use jewelry. I also appreciate that everything I have received is work-appropriate (for me, anyway). This month’s shipment had some colors and fabrics I don’t wear often but am open to trying.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, every box is different.

Use a steamer to get the wrinkles out of the skirt. It’s a cute look and that sweater will look great with jeans and boots.

Normally, I’m not a fan of the outfits they send you (nothing wrong with them — just not my cup of tea), but I am really digging this look.

That yellow and green look great on you! Although I do think the wrinkles in the skirt detract from the overall look. I like the necklace, too. Maybe try a patterned jacket or scarf to tie it all together?

You are definitely ready to cheer for the Brazilian national soccer team!

I totally dig this necklace. It looks gorgeous. Thank you for the review.
