Dia and Co August 2019 Box - Box

Dia & Co
2.5 overall rating
75 Ratings | 24 Reviews

Dia & Co is a monthly plus-size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia & Co, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 25% discount is applied if I chose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co may be entirely different than mine!

Dia and Co August 2019 Box - Envelope

Here is that adorable Dia & Co envelope I look forward to seeing every month!

Dia and Co August 2019 Box - Thoughtful Message

Also enclosed is this thoughtful message from my month’s stylist, Apsara! What a pretty name! She gives great styling tips on how to wear each piece I received, especially the ones she selected for me. She also reminded me to provide feedback on the box, refer to a friend for a $20 adjustment, and to also keep in mind that my $20 styling fee applies towards anything I opt to keep. Also, the 25% off will be taken from my balance if I keep the entire box. All very good things to keep in mind!

Dia and Co August 2019 Box - Detailed List

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off (if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. My some of my prices are listed and some aren’t, so this form is a bit inaccurate. The total would be $394. After the $20 styling fee and 25% is applied my balance for the entire box would be $280.50! The savings would be $113.50 if I did decide to keep everything! That isn’t too shabby! That would be like getting the Molly & Isadora top & Rafaella cuffed capris for free! An entire outfit for free-- what a deal!

Big shock that this is one of the three pieces I selected for myself this month, right? Me liking leopard print—never! I misread the description and thought this piece would hit around the knee, but it is a maxi style. No complaints, this dress is as ideal to wear at the office as it is for a date. I actually wore this recently to my cousin’s wedding shower. It was incredibly comfortable due to the length, but also due to the breezy lightweight fabric. This is a dress I will easily be able to wear into the fall with booties, a rust oversized cardigan, and a golden beret. I hate to see summer go, but I must say I do look forward to all the warm, comforting shades of orange and mustard yellow! For now, since it is still in the 70s and 80s where I am, I styled this dress with copper-gold open toe platforms for a touch of glam! My only complaint is that the dress seems to open at the bottom a bit. I am not sure why since it fits perfectly, especially in the chest where it tends to gap with button-up items. Otherwise, I love this dress and its adaptability!

I legitimately gasped when I saw this vibrant, retro floral dress. I knew I had to put it in my three selections for the August box. Being an ex-art major I am living for the complementary blues and oranges/reds and greens next to one another. The color palette is rather striking and unique! I especially love the pops of yellow and seafoam. The wrap style is so flattering and I love the vintage-style short bell sleeves and ruffle hem at the knees. The dress fits me well for the most part, but I did come to find out it is a bit big in the chest on me. Guys, this is something I am not used to at all! The opposite is typically the case for me! I was at my best friend’s baby shower of all places when I realized how loose it is on my bust. I am thinking that is an easy fix, though—I am blessed with a seamstress as one of my good friends. Plus, I feel if I had sized down it may be too snug and the fabric has limited stretch. Aside from that slight fit issue, I felt like a total babe in this ensemble. I wore it to the shower and followed it up by heading to see a psychedelic garage rock band called The Cynics afterwards. Rather fitting for both events, surprisingly! I styled this dress with orange faux-cork heels to amp up the '60s/'70s vibe this piece offers. This is a dress you can wear to work, a show/concert, or on a date. Trust me from my personal experience—you will slay in this number!  This is ideal for the summer too since the fabric is incredibly lightweight, but not see-through! What a dreamy dress!

I bet you guys will be stunned to hear that I also selected this one for myself—NOT! Yes, I have a penchant for jumpsuits and leopard print—so this was a given! The fabric is a bit slinky, stretchy, and immensely comfortable! I love the draping detail on the back where the zipper is concealed. The only negative is since the zipper is in the back, going to the bathroom will be a true event! I might need to make sure I have my best gal or boyfriend with me in case!  That aside, I love this piece. The big plus, obviously, is how versatile this item is since leopard print is a neutral! It will look phenomenal styled with an array of colors! Go for a femme fatale look with matching red open-toe platforms, lips, and a beret. For cooler days, top off the look with black heart-shaped sunglasses and a faux leather biker jacket. This would look great styled with a green or rust orange cardigan as well for a fall-themed vibe. The looks will be endless! I styled this jumpsuit with black open-toed platforms. Wear this on a Sunday funday or at the office—you will look PURRfect no matter where you go!

Greta Short Flutter Sleeve Top by Molly&Isadora, Size 2x — Retail Value $52

This was one of the two items that my stylist, Apsara, selected and I must say she did a great job. This top is a part of Dia & Co’s exclusive line, Molly&Isadora. I have received a few of their pieces in the past—they are always well made and stylish items. I like the floral print with the contrast of the red against the bright blue and celery green. The cut of the top somehow reminds me of scrubs, but I think tucked into a red mini skirt this is going to look fierce! I styled it with the capri cut jeans Apsara sent me, but imagine this in the fall with black skinny leg jeans, red heels and hoop earrings, and a faux leather biker jacket! That will be a stellar ensemble! The top has limited stretch, but is nice and roomy; it's incredibly comfortable to wear. This piece can be worn essentially anywhere, so it is a great value due to its versatility. I do feel I could find similar pieces for less at other retailers, but that does not diminish my fondness for this top at all.

Tristen Cuffed Capri by Rafaella, Size 22 — Retail Value $49

I love a dark denim rinse and I am so glad my stylist sent these capris my way! I have a few items by the Rafaella brand and am consistently impressed with their fit. These jeans were a little snug in the crotch, but fit everywhere else otherwise. I am hoping they will loosen a bit the more I wear them. $49 is a decent price point for well-made jeans like these, especially for how much wear you will get out of them! I can envision wearing these at the office styled with the Tobi Bowtie Leota top I reviewed from my June Dia & Co box. I am even envisioning them styled with the Claire Pleat top by Premise I reviewed in my July Dia & Co box, too. Imagine that with the Nicky Statement bag from last month and red flats—FIRE!  The options are limitless!

Verdict: I absolutely love Dia & Co ! My favorite change they made is the option to pick out three of the five pieces for your box each month. I have very particular tastes and love to shop, so this option appeals greatly to me. I can’t encourage my readers and friends enough to do the same: it ensures you get items you’re curious about, but also allows your stylist to pick a few pieces for you, too. I also highly recommend providing feedback for each box you receive as well as creating a Pinterest board. This has helped significantly with all my subscription boxes I review. All in all, I love the changes Dia & Co have made to truly enhance and personalize their service for their customers. Also, make sure to refer your friends for a $20 off on your box—what a win/win situation!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you! Also take advantage of their option for you to pin pieces and select up to three items for your monthly box as well!

Value Breakdown: This box has a $20 styling fee and includes free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $394. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 styling fee for the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $280.50 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is nearly a 29% discount.

AMH, they are so sweet and will make a big deal on some days. Today the cleaning lady said, “You always have your outfits and hair on point, Nicole. I can at least say that about you!” My neurotic self was like WTH DOES THE “AT LEAST I CAN SAY THAT ABOHT YOU” MEAN?! HAHHAHAAHHAAHAHHAAHA

But thank you, AMH!

Maddie

Just a killer box this time, Nicole! Love everything on you! I’m not a fan of that last top, tho, because it reminds me of upscale scrubs. The V-neck, short sleeves, untucked look with nothing to break it up just screams scrubs but I’m sure it has a different vibe in person.

I would love that jumpsuit! Now, I’m off to forage for those capris because they are perfect and missing from my closet.

Another great review!

Thank you, Maddie! Yeah, I regret not showing how else to style that top tucked into a skirt. We had a microburst storm that day so I was trying to get those pics taken like bingo, bang, boom! Hahahahahaha. But it does have a scrub quality.

If you do decide to try Dia & Co to score the glorious jumpsuit, keep in mind your $20 styling fee is applied to the cost of the item. And you can get a $20 credit by suggesting a friend. The Jumpsuit is so comfy and chic. I have seen it on many people in pics from the Curvy Con and they all looked phenomenal! So, I can’t recommend it enough!

Awe thank you, Jeniginger, so sweet! Yeah, Dia & Co does have a lot of great styles. They purposely cater to plus sizes, but there are boxes like Stitch Fix and Gwynnie Bee that I review that carry sizes 0 through 32 that might be worth checking out too! 😁👍
