Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box – the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2019 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)
(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Ipsy Glam Bag August 2019 Review
My bag this month features skincare, makeup, and nail polish. Now, let’s see what I got!
A card with information about the month's theme, your included items, and other Ipsy info is included.
Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's bag has a textured, olive green exterior and a hot pink satin interior.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion Moisturizer, 5ml - Estimated Value $2.40 (Buy a 75ml full size for $36)
I tend to like IT Cosmetics products in general and this lotion is no exception. The oil-free formula feels refreshing and light when applied and gives my skin an instant hydration boost. It's great for summer months because it's not too rich and it leaves my skin ready for makeup without having to add other products.
Adesse All Day Lip Crème in Beverly Blvd, FULL SIZE - Retail Value $24
The shade of this lipstick is described as "pink with a plum, cool undertone" and it is perfect for my light-medium skin tone. Actually, I think it would be flattering on most skin tones. I think the satin finish and super subtle shimmer make my lips look bigger and it certainly is more comfortable than a matte formula. It goes on creamy (so it rubs off easily) and leaves a wash of color that seems to last most of the day.
Buxom Cosmetics Big Tease Plumping Mascara, 2ml - Estimated Value $2.82 (Buy an 8.5ml mini size for $12)
I expected big, bold lashes when I saw the huge brush in this little sample of mascara. To my surprise, I was able to get a wispy, soft lash look. I like that kind of effect for days when I'm not doing a lot to my eyes. By the end of the day, I noticed some flaking under my eyes and some loss of volume. I'm glad to have tried this one but I have other favorite mascaras that last all day and that I can build up if needed.
Cuccio Colour Nail Polish in Gaia, 13ml - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $6.95
Now, I like this muted red-coral color. A lot! The formula is a thicker créme that applies easily and surprisingly smoothly. But, I tried the polish in both a regular manicure and one where I painted it over an acrylic overlay and it started chipping right away both times. I'll have to try it on my toenails since polish tends to last way longer there.
Biorace Pore Purifying Spirulina & Tea Tree Clay Mask, 28g - Estimated Value $6.36 (Buy a 110g full size for $25)
I tend to stay away from clay masks since my skin is very dry but I wanted to give this one a shot. I slathered it onto my clean skin for half of the recommended time (so, I waited until it was almost dry) and then removed it with a warm, wet washcloth. The tingling I was feeling while I had it on made me think I'd have irritation for sure. Thankfully, I had no irritation and my skin actually looked really toned and even. I'll probably still limit my clay mask usage but I'm happy to be able to rotate this one in every now and again.
Verdict: This Ipsy Glam Bag had a good variety of products. I'm not sure there is anything I'm planning on buying the full size of, but I am enjoying some items like the mask and the lipstick. The total value of the products in this month's Glam Bag is $42.53. I think it's great to be able to try all of these products for just $10 a month and I almost always find something I love.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely start with September as your first month. As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist.
