The K-Beauty Box August 2019 Review
I was trying to figure out which month this box is, but after digging around in their Instagram comments, I'm not sure if they have a dedicated curation each month. When someone asked if the one they posted last week was "this month's box" (Sept), they replied "Yes This is one of our monthly boxes. As a subscriber, you will get a new random box once a month from our box collection". That makes me think they have several different pre-made boxes that they will mail out at random. Only time will tell! Anyway- let's get into my first delivery!
Age 20's Cell Bounce Watery Cleansing Foam (full size)
I couldn't seem to find this Age 20's item online except for eBay or Amazon (which can get sketchy), and we don't like to use those sites for beauty values specifically because of that. At any rate, this is a full-size tube of their foaming cleanser. It's a thick, white, semi-pearly cream that has a really nice foam once it's massaged into the skin with water. I am a big fan of foam cleansers, so this is a good'un. It leaves my face feeling really fresh and clean! The only qualm I have is a strange note in the fragrance that is a little icky. I'm not sure what it is, but I can power through it since this is a great cleanser.
Age 20's Caviar Bubble Serum (full size)
Again, I couldn't find this product online but it's also full-size. The pump is sort of "locked" until you twist the rose gold band at the top which allows you to depress the pump and distribute the serum. I always like clever packaging like that. The serum is a clear golden color with tiny bubbles throughout and is a watery gel-like substance. One pump was plenty for me to smooth over my face after using the cleanser and I immediately felt it soften my skin. It has a light pleasant scent as well. I like this one!
Laneige Cream Skin Refiner, 50 mL (deluxe sample) - Estimated Value $11.00 (Buy 150 mL for $33.00)
Gahhhh- I LOVE THIS. I've never tried anything quite like it! It says to use in the toner step of your skin routine because it's a 2-in-1 toner and moisturizer. Since it's thin like a milky toner, I used a cotton pad to spread this onto my face, but I think I'll try to simply put it into my hands for future. It made my face so wonderfully moisturized and soft, I couldn't believe it. After this, I didn't really feel the need to add another moisturizer on top. This is great for days I want to reduce the steps in my skin routine.
Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel EX, 3 mL (deluxe sample) - Estimated Retail Value $4.68 (Buy 25 mL for $39.00)
I know getting full-size products is awesome, but for someone like me who has A LOT to try each month, I appreciate getting deluxe samples that are enough to give me a good idea on if I'll like a product or not. This eye cream is a really gentle and lightweight cream that is to be softly patted under and around the eye at night as well as in the morning. It's really hydrating and I'm hoping it can lift up my dark circles though it's a little early to tell. This is going to last me quite a while since only a tiny bit is needed.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, 15 mL (deluxe sample) - Estimated Retail Value $5.36 (Buy 70 mL for $25.00)
This is another great size to try. I recently got a smaller deluxe sample of their lip mask via Sephora recently (as a GWP) which turned out to be PLENTY. This pot has many many uses ahead of it and I just adore a water cream. I LIVE for water creams. This one is a sleeping mask, which I am also kind of obsessed with right now. I love the idea of my face soaking up hydration while I sleep. So productive! All jokes aside, this mask is amazing and has my skin feeling A+ when I wake.
JM Solution Marine Luminous Pearl Deep Moisture Mask - Retail Value $3.50
I am torn about this mask. I want to try it, but the last time I tried a pearl mask it was not a good scene. I'd normally chalk it up to a fluke and try again but my skin has been a bit overloaded lately so I don't wanna risk it. This one keeps in line with the hydration theme of the box since it's a "deep moisture mask". It's also meant to brighten and has "deep-sea water with marine energy". Whoa! I know one of my girlfriends will love this.
Bonus Samples:
SU:M37 Losec Summa Elixir Skin Softener - Buy 150 mL for $100.00
I was expecting this to be a really thin toner-like consistency and got a cotton pad ready but it is closer to a serum. I used just a small amount on my fingertips to smooth over my face after cleansing. It felt... incredibly nice. It absorbed really quickly and felt like a soothing way to prep my face for a moisturizer.
SU:M37 Losec Summa Elixir Skin Emulsion - Buy 130 mL for $120.00
Wow- okay. I am sort of seeing why this is as expensive as it is. I am immediately smitten by it after just one use. This is a white semi-thick cream but feels unbelievably light on the skin. Like- I can't even explain. It's like having nothing on at all but is somehow also super moisturizing. After using these two samples together, I cannot stop touching my face (even though I know I shouldn't).
Verdict: Even though I can't find a solid RV on the Age 20's products, I'm really happy with the value of my first K-Beauty Box because I'm happy with the products themselves. Adding up everything I could estimate prices for (the Laneige products and the mask), I got a total of $24.54. That means that the two full-size products would only have to total $5.41 just to hit even for the $29.95 cost of the box and I'm confident they're worth quite a bit more. I was really excited to try all three Laneige products since I'm familiar with them already and I think the deluxe samples are a great trial size. I didn't think I'd care as much about the bonus samples but they ended up blowing me away. Super into this box and I can't wait to see more from them!
