Scent Box September 2019 Review
This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”
The information card usually has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side. I am honestly a bit intrigued by the men’s scent, which I would probably like (I tend to gravitate to unisex or even masculine scents for some reason).
In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month and the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.
On to the fragrance:
Vince Camuto Capri – Estimated Value $6.80 (Buy 3.4 oz for $85, found here for $49.95, and was on a buy-one-get-one-free offer when I wrote this review)
This one appears to be discontinued as I could only find it on discount sites. It is not a fragrance I would expect to like just looking at the information card, but it ended up working really well for me.
Base notes are vanilla and musk, both of which I generally like quite a lot. Mid notes are floral (violet and peach blossom) and the top note is a generic citrus, which I didn’t honestly smell at all when I put this on. This one was very sweet on me but that is absolutely not a complaint as I happen to like sugary fragrances.
I found longevity to be slightly on the shorter side (but this is convenient to toss in a bag and reapply as needed) and sillage to be about average.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $6.80. This isn’t a high value by any means, but you can always calculate values before filling up your queue and maximize value if you want to do things that way. I happened to really like this month’s fragrance and having an entirely usable (but inexpensive) fragrance is better for me than ending up with something I’m ambivalent about, just because it costs more. The value of the scent of the month is typically less than the subscription cost. Three things make it a little better deal: (1) choose your own scent instead of opting for the monthly default, (2) remember you get a holder every month instead of every couple of months, and (3) there are free exchanges if something doesn’t work for you.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $6.80 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
