Spiritú Fall 2019 Review
The box included a fold-open booklet with all of our included items, retail values, and more info on the brands.
This small card placed at the top of the box highlights its retail value, along with more info on this month's box artist: Anna Alvarado. I think this box is stunningly beautiful and the color palette is striking.
Let's peek at what's inside!
Coquettes Armoire Honduras Handmade Junco Earrings – Listed Value $12.00
I wasn't 100% sure I liked these earrings until I studied them for a few minutes. They are so intricate! Each is a little woven disk and the texture and tiny scale won me over quickly. I don't have anything like this in my jewelry box and I love that they were handmade by talented artisans in Honduras. Handmade items always feel so much more special than anything a machine can make. I also really like the emerald green color and that they look like simple circle studs in my earlobes until you examine them closer.
I find these just so charming.
Agavesalt Baja Shawl – Listed Value $60.00
FYI: This scarf was a little over 18 inches wide and around 76 inches long.
This shawl is PLUSH! It was so much thicker than I expected and super warm. I know a few different colors went out and I am quite happy with this beautiful turquoise palette. Handmade in Los Angeles with Mexican Jerga fabric, it has all of these little intricate splashes of color hidden in the turquoise areas, giving it a lot of character and dimension. It is also sturdy, but not harsh against my neck at all. Our included booklet also suggests it might make a beautiful and unusual table runner, something I might try out if I manage to remove it from around my very cozy neck!
This is a really great weight and size for crisp autumn mornings.
LIDÈ Haiti Bracelet – Listed Value $12.00
I love adding new stretch bracelets to my collection, and I don't have anything quite like this one. LIDÈ was co-founded by Rainn Wilson (of The Office fame) and writer Holiday Reinhorn, his wife. LIDÈ provides arts and literacy classes, computer training, and scholarships to hundreds of Haitian girls who saw their communities devastated after the earthquake in 2010. I love that this bracelet has a beautiful message as well as being beautiful on my wrist.
I feel so colorful with both the scarf and bracelet on!
Don Francisco's Coffee, 12 oz – Retail Value $7.99
I am not a coffee drinker, but my husband Will sure is. Even I have to admit that this coffee smells incredible! It has really noticeable floral notes that might just make a coffee drinker out of me yet. Don Francisco's a multi-generational roaster and good coffee is part of their family heritage. We are talking 150 years of history and 4 generations! What a legacy. This bag contains 100% Arabica beans that are already ground and ready to enjoy. Will might have to share this bag with me after all.
Don Francisco's Coffee Reusable Cup – Listed Value $6.00
This reusable coffee cup is a perfect complement to our bag of coffee. It is surprisingly sturdy and I really like the golden design.
Clinique Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro-Filler Concentrate, 5 ml – Estimated Value $11.33 (Buy a full size 15 ml for $34.00 )
Clinique was the first "fancy" skincare I ever used as a kid. We lived with my grandparents and I would constantly borrow from my Nana's vanity shelves. She always showered me in the little samples she would get from Macy's and I honestly think Clinique is where my initial obsession with skincare started.
Ok, nostalgia aside, this eye concentrate is pretty cool. It is in the form of a very dense gel that has little confetti-style antioxidant bobbles floating around. I love bobbles! It goes on very smooth and absorbs well without stickiness. I do think 96 hours is a bit far fetched in terms of moisture retention, but it certainly does last all day and gave my dull skin a little glow.
Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydration, 15 ml mini-size – Retail Value $12.00
I liked this gel-cream too! Though I generally rely on heavy creams at night, something with a lighter texture like this feels great for daytime wear, and this left my skin hydrated all day. It has aloe, caffeine, and hyaluronic acid, which gave my skin a nice glow and noticeable improvement. Because of its gel-cream texture, I didn't need much to coat my face, which bodes well for this pot lasting a long time. My makeup looked great all day on top of it to boot!
Michael Kors Wonderlust Perfume Rollerball, 0.34 fl oz - Retail Value $30.00
It took a good hour for me to really appreciate this fragrance. At first it doesn't smell very unique, a sweet mix of almonds, florals, and something beachy. But give it time and the spice from the pink pepper kicks in and makes it much more interesting. Wait a little longer and it is downright woodsy! I don't think I would wear this one alone, but if you own Kayali Vanilla 28, layer them! It turns into something so sexy and perfect for fall. I love that a full rollerball was included!
Verdict: Ok, I am pretty impressed with this box. The curation is top notch and I love the mix of handmade accessories with skincare and perfume from well-known brands. It works! I liked every single item that was included this quarter, but especially those cute green earrings, the shawl, and the Clinique items. Will is going to really appreciate the coffee and the travel mug, and I have yet to take the little bracelet off. Lastly, you know your girl is a perfume collector, so a full rollerball really pleases me. I also really appreciate when brands include supplemental info about the origins of handmade products, and this box was full of details that made each piece even more special. Though I couldn't find specific values of everything, based on our booklet this box has a retail value of around $150, which feels accurate to me. This is a great value for a $39.99 box, especially since nothing felt like filler.
