Succulents August 2019 Review
Every box comes with care instructions card for the plants and it usually has a 15% off coupon.
This box also comes with a packing slip that itemizes my order.
Subsessilis Echeveria
This plant is a traditional echeveria, the kind of plant I tend to think of when I think about succulents. It is a blueish-grey succulent in the shape of a rosette. This plant will be featured on my kitchen windowsill where I will plant it in cactus soil and will fill with rocks.
Pulidonis Echeveria
I really like this plant. I like the thickness of the leaves and the red around the edges. I also like that the ends of the leaves are kind of sharp. This is a slow-growing plant that will bloom bright, yellow flowers in the spring. This plant will make a perfect addition to my succulent garden in the front.
Lola Echeveria
Another echeveria! I have to say that these are my favorite types of succulents, so I am not disappointed to receive multiple echeverias in my last box. This echeveria is lighter than my others, a light purple color. This plant also will bloom bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers in the spring. A previous echeveria I received is still blooming pink bell-shaped flowers. Right now it is over 2 feet tall! I think this will be the same, so I plan on planting it across from my other one so next year they will bloom across from each other.
Graptosedum California Sunset
This is definitely my favorite plant in this month’s box. I love the taller plants; they seem to do so well in my garden! This plant is fairly easy to grow and if it is a happy plant, it will bloom white flowers in the spring. This plant does require sunshine to develop its pinkish colors. This is perfect since my little garden is right in the front and it gets a couple of hours direct sunlight before it disappears behind the tall houses. I look forward to seeing how this plant thrives and grows!
Verdict: Succulents Box has always been a favorite subscription of mine. The price seems very fair for the amount of plants I get and since it is a subscription, I know I will be introduced to different plants every month. I like the discovery of new plants and like to look them up to see what I intend to do with them. I think this is a great box for those with green (or greenish-brown) thumbs and ideal for new homeowners (or renters!) if they are looking to add to the garden or add some plants inside. This month I received 3 echeverias, which is unusual since I typically get a greater variety, but I am not complaining because I love echeverias!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, the September 2019 collection is currently shipping. It’s also worth noting your assortment may vary a bit depending on how many plants you choose to subscribe to.
Value Breakdown: This four plant box cost $20.00 + $5.00 shipping. That means each plant cost an average of $6.25. To purchase each plant individually would be $31.80 ($26.80 + $5.00 shipping), so the subscription factors to an approximate savings of 21%.
