Vinyl Moon is a record club that produces monthly "mixtapes" pressed to fun colored vinyl for $30/month. They tend to feature up and coming bands that you may have not heard so it's a great way to discover new music! Additionally, they go above and beyond to highlight artists and have a different one design the cover and inserts for each volume.

Vinyl Moon Volume 047 "Natural Things" Review
Around the time of receiving your vinyl, you'll also be emailed a digital copy of the mixtape to take on-the-go so you can listen even when not near a turntable. It's also available on Spotify here!
There's a booklet of liner notes that always has an abstract introduction from Vinyl Moon founder, Brandon. Each page has a short bio of each band featured. This month has 10 artists plucked from obscurity featuring Luke De-Sciscio, Skin Mag, Axel Mansoor, Majetic, High Tides, Anthony Lazaro, Talkboy, Highschool Jacob, Wy, and Fox Grin. On the back, there's a bio about the featured cover artist, Russian-based Varya Schuka.
Volume 047 of Vinyl Moon is entitled "Natural Things" and features the art of Varya Schuka whose surreal pastel landscapes with wild animals set a dreamy scene. The extra cool thing about the gatefold cover this month are the hologram insets on the front and inside cover. We're talking the old-time holographic images that you have to move from side to side to get a sort of 3-D effect. The cover one is set inside what looks like a pond that the elephant is going for with a glowing sphere, while the one on the inside is a cheetah in action that changes to an '80s-inspired painted figure of itself. Very cool!
If you've been an active member for 12 months, you'll automatically become a VIP which entitles you to an exclusive color of vinyl. This month's variant is a beautiful pale yellow swirl.
Side A seems delicate overall, like a chillwave dream. Nothing on this side stood out to grab me besides Axel Mansoor's "The Other Side" which felt very familiar. But I found all the music helpful to concentrate on work and allow some light jams to float along in the background which I prefer to silence.
Side B feels a bit more rockin' than side A and I couldn't help but immediately feel the beat of Highschool Jacob's track "Can't Get Enough" by bobbing my head and moving around a little. The next track by Wy also stands out to me with the sultry yet sassy Karen O.-esque vocals with fast-paced guitar.
Verdict: Once again, Vinyl Moon has delivered a completely unique experience visually as well as audibly. All 10 artists are new to me and there are at least a few I'll be seeking out on Spotify to listen to more.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but a different variant of this one is available in their shop as a one-time purchase. You can also listen sans record to their digital playlist on Spotify if you're so inclined.
