BoxyLuxe September 2019 Review
Now, on to the items!
Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette, 13 g – Retail Value $29.00
This is a really well-rounded selection of shades. There is something in here for everyone. I do feel like the bottom row truly outshone the top one though, in shades as well as formulas. The middle three top shades felt way too yellow for my skin and the pigment level could have been better for the mattes. The bottom row was pretty much delightful, especially the Dusty Rose shade. It is a perfect matte pink! Plum Berry is also a standout with its metallic dirty berry vibes. It is also worth mentioning how lovely the Emerald shade is because it works as a sheer light shadow or use it wet for an Emerald City-esque liner.
Top to bottom: Cream, Sand, Terra Cotta, Gold, and Emerald.
Top to bottom: Pink, Dusty Rose, Plum Berry, Cinnamon, and Black
Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask, 1.7 oz – Retail Value $52.00
FYI: The normal full size of this comes in a tub, while ours arrived in a tube. The amount of product is the same.
I received this back in my normal September BoxyCharm, and I still love it. My mom actually adores sleeping masks like this so I am happy to pass it along to her. This continues to be really effective at calming my red, irritated skin. I have been religiously using Tretinoin cream before bed, (along with the other millions of products I try!) and this totally helps calm my skin down when I have an especially angry area. A little goes a long way, especially after a toner, so I am comfortable sharing this second tube with mom.
Hank & Henry Beauty Liquid Liner in Blickity Black, 0.55 ml – Retail Value $17.00
I found myself unimpressed with the pigment of this liner. I like a brush tip, but I prefer a dark black liner, and this just didn't look as black as I would have expected. Staying power was great, and the packaging was slick, but it left me feeling a little 'meh.'

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in 'Angelo', 3 ml - Retail value $22.00
I knew from first sight that this color was not going to work on me. Nudes are really difficult on my very fair skin, and an orange leaning nude? Forget about it. I was right, and this shade managed to make me look rather sickly and pale. Bummer! The formula was great though, a matte without ever going super dry. I am sure it would have lasted for hours if I hadn't wiped it away so fast because of the color.
This was not a shade for me.
Too Faced Natural Face Palette – Retail Value $44.00
I love natural makeup look face palettes and this was truly lovely. It has two highlighters, two blushes, and two bronzers. As with most bronzers, the darker of these two did not work for me and made my face look dirtier than sunkissed, but I found I liked it when used as a shadow very much. The 'Pink Sands' shade was gorgeous on my cheeks as well as my lids and was my favorite. The highlighters were both iridescent, with the Starlight shade having a pink flash while Satin Sheets was rich and lustrous champagne. The blush was also a winner and is a true, rich pink that looks great on my skin.

Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $65.00
I generally adore Sunday Riley anything, so I was tickled to see this pot in my box. While it isn't heavy enough for me to use as a night cream, I adore it during the day under my makeup or on a bare face. It has a fresh clean scent and is packed with hyaluronic acid, which means my face stays soft all day. The ingredient that I was most excited about would be the Alpha-Arbutin which should help with any darker spots I developed from the summer sun. I also have to mention that I caught Will sampling this one. That sleek packaging must have caught his attention.
MŌDA 8 Piece Brush Kit - Retail value $69.99
I don't love MŌDA brushes, but I did appreciate that this kit contained 8 useful shapes and sizes for any routine. The black plastic handles have a quilted texture and the brush heads are all very fluffy and densely packed with synthetic bristles. These won't be taking the place of most of my Morphe brushes, but they will be excellent for my travel makeup bag, especially since they are a little shorter than most of my others.
IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm, 5 fl oz - Retail Value $29.00
Finally, our last item is a hydrating hair balm from IGK. I have super dry hair and I have heard rave reviews on this stuff from others with similar coarse, thick strands. Added points for this being a balm I can use on my dry hair, as it's unlikely to ever be used otherwise. I liked this much more than I thought I would. It is smoothing while being weightless, meaning even if I overdo it (which I usually do) my hair still looks natural and bouncy. It gives just enough softness and smoothing power to make my hair look a little more "done" without looking stringy or gross the next day like some balms do. I also love the perfume-like scent!
Verdict: The total retail value of this BoxyLuxe is $327.99, which is awesome for a $49.99 box, including free shipping. I really liked the majority of this box. The Sunday Riley cream alone accounts for more than the entire cost of the box, so the rest feels like a happy bonus. The other highlights were the Too Faced Palette, IGK balm, and Dr. Brant sleep mask. I was less crazy about the Stila lipstick and the eyeliner, but even without those two items this box still has loads of value and an incredible assortment of brands. BoxyLuxe is one of those quarterly upgrades that I always know will have tons of value and higher quality formulas. It is a no brainer if you are into trendy makeup and skincare!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but you can claim a spot for the December BoxyLuxe box by upgrading your BoxyCharm subscription in your account section.
