Gwynnie Bee September 2019 Review
This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received between September 1st and September 22nd, 2019:
Jacquard Knit Black Daisy Dress by Hutch, Size 2x - Retail Value $50
This month, you guys will be surprised to see I got SIX pieces instead of my typical three. Let's talk about this saucy number from Hutch first. As you all may know, I am a sucker for vintage and retro pieces alike. This dress has a jacquard daisy print that I found absolutely irresistible! The fabric has ample stretch and fits like a dream. I love the ruffles on the sleeves and back-of-the-neck bow tie details as well. I styled this piece with my go-to warm weather shoes: black jellies. The jellies are comfortable, but this dress is reminiscent of Jackie O's classic, refined, yet modern style. I say go full force in accessorizing this dress with a little pillbox hat, white gloves, and stacked black heels to amp this piece for a wedding or other gathering. This piece is incredibly beautiful and easy to wear, so if you stick to black flats and hoops you will still stun and enchant all around you!
Mock Neck Floral Woven Dress by ModCloth, Size 2x - Retail Value $29.50 (Purchased)
Another ultra-retro dress came my way in this month's box, this time by ModCloth. Much like my August Gwynnie Bee review, I couldn't resist the charms of another '60s/'70s inspired ModCloth dress. This one got a permanent home with me, but truly can you blame me? This dress made me think of something that Sharon Tate's character would have worn in Valley of The Dolls. The irony in that statement is that I skinned my knee going to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, go figure. I apologize that you guys have to see that funky knee throughout this review. Good news is that this dress is rather versatile; the fabric is lightweight for summer, but can work great in cooler weather with added layered pieces. One can easily cover a banged-up knee in fall by pairing this stunner with black tights and platform Mary Janes. Top it off with oversized vintage glasses and a cardigan and you are set!
Pink and Gray Stripe Dress by Hutch, Size 2x - Retail Value $45.50
I received another cute Hutch brand dress in this month's selections! Goodness, this dress makes me want to blast the Beach Boys and head down to a beach dance party a la Frankie and Annette movies of yore! It's fall now and this is making me miss the summertime terribly! The material for this dress a bit thick, but has loads of stretch. The 2x fit me, but I wonder if the 3x would give me a tad more length. I constantly felt like my rump was about to pop out of this dress, which had me on guard at work! Otherwise, this dress was adorable!
Wild Tropics Justine Sleeveless Faux Wrap Dress by Leota, Size 2x - Retail Value $61
Speaking of summertime, this dress is the epitome of a warm, breezy day at the beach! I am a sucker for animal prints, but also vivid, vibrant floral patterns. Leota is a brand I have reviewed countless times; I absolutely love them! This faux wrap style dress is no exception to my fondness of this brand. This dress overall fits well, but it seemed to expose my chest a bit more than I would have preferred. I had to keep readjusting at work to make sure my bra wasn't hanging out-- whoopsie! This would be great for a more lax environment; say if I were going on a tropical vacation, this would be key for sure! Since our weather has been remained rather warm yet, I managed to wear this number once out. Style this dress with open-toed mules and a mustard cardigan to bring out the lovely color palette of this beaut!
Golden Dream Sleeveless Smocked Top by City Chic, Size L - Retail Value $61.50
I love a vintage-inspired top, especially if it has a unique yoke. This City Chic top has a smocked detail at the top with short flutter sleeves. I love the mustard yellow floral print with rust polka dots. The top is a thinner lightweight material, so it makes it ideal for fall layering. I styled this piece with black RWAN jeans from a fall Dia & Co review I did last year and gold flats. Imagine this piece with a mustard yellow pencil skirt, booties, and a faux-leather biker jacket for optimum autumnal slay-age!
Boudoir Botanical Belted Jumpsuit by Vince Camuto, Size 20w - Retail Value $49.50
Lastly, we have this lovely black-and-white floral jumpsuit. The fabric is incredibly lightweight and has a crepe-like feel. This piece would be most ideal for spring, summer, and early fall. I can envision this paired with white sneakers and an oversized black cardigan in cooler fall weather. Top the look off with some killer statement necklace or hoop earrings for further sass. This piece is fantastic for the office too due to the modesty button at the chest. This enables you to control how much or how little cleavage you decide to grace the general public with! I styled this jumpsuit with white flats-- please don't tell Beverly Sutphin of my audacious post Labor Day act!
Verdict: My love for Gwynnie Bee goes on! This month's selections were all great in different ways, but the three standout pieces for me were the black-and-white floral Hutch dress, the animal print Leota dress, and the retro ModCloth mini dress-- which happened to be the only piece I bought of the six. What I love most about Gwynnie Bee is that they are a rental service. I appreciate being able to try out different trends, styles, and brands without the commitment to buy. I often suggest Gwynnie Bee to my friends that are in between sizes as well as ones that are looking for officewear without breaking the bank. You also cannot beat the free first month trial-- that's a heck of a deal!
To Wrap Up:

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got six items this month, so I really stretched out my value this go around! The six items total up to $297, which is $202 more than my monthly subscription fee! That is a heck of a value, but imagine if had I returned these pieces and received even more! Wow!
