KitNipBox October 2019 Review
KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, they are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month it was a Halloween theme:
The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online.
Paws 'n Purrs Bats for Cats Wand - Listed Value $7
There's usually a wand toy in this box and this month, of course, it has a felt bat. The bat has a rattle in it and is easy for kitties to hook their claws into. Angus wanted to play but the dog kept coming to investigate so I didn't get any good pictures. Sneaky was also interested.
All for Paws Catnip Scarecrow - Listed Value $6
This is a small catnip plush with a variety of interesting textures (hat, shirt, pole, hands) and Madison spent an extra long time sniffing it although he was otherwise camera shy this time around.
'R Squad Ghostly Boos Crinkle Kicker - Listed Value $5
This has a canvas-like texture and is perfect for Monkey. He circles the house throughout the day, looking for the sunny spot, and I keep some toys for him in the home office, which is sunny in the morning, and I catch him playing with them, so that's where I'll leave this. (He really likes canvas.)
Leap All Nip Halloween Treat Mouse - Listed Value $5
Sneaky was super interested in the tail on this, which you can see below. Madison also seemed to like it and Angus wanted to play as well, but the dog (once again) started getting in the way.
Safemade All Nip Trick or Treat Bag - Listed Value $5
This was a big hit with Sneaky. It didn't make for good pictures but she would not stop licking it. It was quite wet when I finally took it away. There's no stuffing, only catnip. She also liked the strings on it, as did Angus.
Max All Nip Crinkle Witch Hat - Listed Value $4
This is more of an Angus thing. It is very small and light, plus it is felt, and felt toys are some of his favorites.
Purebites Freeze Dried Chicken Treats (0.6 oz) - Retail Value $3.49 (found here for $2.29)
Monkey and Sneaky liked these. Angus wanted some but he can't have chicken. This is a pretty good brand; I used to buy their duck all the time for Mr. Kitty because it was the only treat he could eat. These are single-ingredient treats that are made in the US.
Gratuitous cat photos:
Angus liked the strings on this toy.
He sniffed the treats but he can't eat them because of his IBD.
Here he inspects the contents of the box.
Madison was camera-shy although he did finally come over when I gave him treats.
I was so surprised Monkey liked these, but he did.
Here, he sniffs a toy.
Sneaky is really the star of this review. She had a lot of fun with a lot of different items from the box.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $35.49 for the October KitNipBox, which is above the cost of the box by quite a bit. I know I haven’t provided links for most of the products, and that’s because I can’t usually find these brands for sale at retail prices online. I do occasionally see these brands in other cat subscription boxes, and I have found them at wholesale websites before (just not with retail prices), so while I don’t think you would be able to find some (or all) of these items at stores, I feel like KitNipBox is probably sourcing them from wholesale suppliers, which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. There were several different textures and fabrics on the toys this month, and my cats appreciated these. Sneaky had the most fun with the box, with her favorites being the wand, treat bag, and mouse (and of course the treats).
To Wrap Up:

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 including free shipping, which means that each of the 7 items (counting the wine bottles as one since I think I was only supposed to get one) in the box has an average cost of $4.28.
