Dean Davidson The Voyage Jewelry Bag – Retail Value $195.00
I am not a "vegan leather" fan, mainly because I really love actual leather and find that it lasts longer and lacks the scary plastic chemicals of the faux stuff. That being said, I do have to admit that this case is incredibly well made, weighty, and very pretty. Wearing it crossbody is laughable if you have any sort of bustline, even at the longest strap adjustment. It literally ended up holding up the bottom of one side of my bust when I tried! You could certainly remove all the custom organizers inside and use it over one shoulder, though. I decided to simply detach the strap and use it for jewelry storage inside my dresser and I totally plan on taking it next time I travel. It will be perfect for keeping my pieces safe and organized. Would I prefer a leather option? Absolutely. But as far as the quality of this faux material and the detail in the construction, I was impressed, especially compared to the majority of pleather items I have gotten in boxes.
Orrefors Carat Bud Vase – Retail Value $40.00
FYI: This vase is 3.6"W x 7.1"T.
Good to Know: This vase has a retail value of $80 on the Neiman Marcus page I found, though it is on sale for $40. The included info card lists its retail value at $40. I decided to also value this item as the $40 listed in the included card, though it is possible it technically has a higher retail value of $80.00.
This vase was so much larger and heavier than I expected. When I hear "bud vase", I think of a mini vase suitable for a single larger bud or a few sprigs of dainty flowers. This is big enough to hold quite a few stems easily or a small to medium arrangement and the faceted cut is really quite pretty, especially for winter tablescapes. The angles catch the light beautifully and it looks like it is made of glass.
Robyn Rhodes "the Marlowe Cuff" in Silver – Retail Value $57.00
I don't know that I love this cuff and a lot of that stems from the fact that I am not sure what it is made out of. It is thinner than I would prefer, though this does make it super flexible! I generally really love silver cuffs but this one is super shiny and a little more modern than I tend to wear. It also scratches quite easily. While this wasn't a winner for me, I am happy to pass it on to a friend with a more modern jewelry style.
It is a great style if you love a modern cuff.
LXMI Pure Nilotica Melt, 50 g – Retail Value $28.00
I seem to love this brand whenever I see it in a box and I think this stems from the gorgeous Dutch Wax printed packaging and the natural ingredient list. Nilotica is a shea subspecies and the balm in this tube is 100% pure, organic, and so over-the-top nourishing. It will be perfect for dry spots in the winter, though I have been using it mostly on my elbows, knees, and cuticles for now. I also tried it on the drier patches around my nose and over my eyebrows (they get dry too, sadly) and I love it! It is heavy-duty, so I recommend waiting until nighttime if you want to use it on your face and treating it more like an overnight spot mask.
LXMI Nilotica Goddess Glow in Rose Gold, 30 ml - Retail Value $42.00
A pink blush or highlighter shade with a gold shimmer always seems to work beautifully on my face. I immediately liked this cream because it gives so much radiance but it is hard to over-apply it, especially if you plan on wearing foundation and powder on top. It gives that lit-from-within look that I strive for and also improves my skin texture with its shea content. I actually used this on my entire face as a primer under my makeup one evening and my skin looked so dewy that I had multiple friends ask me what I was using to give me such a glow. It reminds me quite a bit of the cult-fave NARS Illuminator in 'Orgasm', though maybe with less pink.
I mostly rubbed the cream in for this shot, but not as much as I normally would on my face because I wanted you to be able to see it!
Green Market GP Co. Elderberry Woods Porcelain Splendor Candle, 12 oz - Retail Value $27.00
I could smell this candle as soon as I opened the box! It is a perfect blend of woods, florals, and a little crisp berry. This is basically a fall scent for people who dislike pumpkins because it gives the same festive vibes without being overly food-y. It is pretty big and arrived in a gold detailed porcelain holder that is really very cute. With a burn time of between 70-80 hours, I will enjoy this soy wax candle for a long time. The scent is incredibly strong and easily filled my living room and kitchen.
Green Market GP Co. Pumpkin Sage Archivist Candle, 7 oz - Retail Value $16.00
Pumpkin lovers weren't left out of this fall assortment. Though I am not a pumpkin fan, I have to admit that I am intrigued by this blend of pumpkin, vanilla, sage, and violet leaves. If you read any of my perfume reviews you know violet is my weakness! There were no real traces of nutmeg, cinnamon, or cloves to my nose, which made this fragrance a lot more viable in my home. Basically, it smells a lot more natural and botanical than a PSL, which is a good thing in my book. This scent is probably not for me, but I know exactly the person I will gift it to if I decide not to light it myself. I often find that the items in higher-end boxes make great gifts, which makes me feel a lot better when I don't totally love something.
Green Market GP Co. Fancy Feathers Matches, 50 matches - Retail Value $5.00
We actually go through a lot of long matches like this in my house because they are great for lighting mostly burned candles in taller vessels without adding burn marks and soot to your hands. I recently splurged on a super cute ceramic match striker and these matches will be very cute inside.
Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $410 which is a little over the $400 guaranteed value. I actually really loved the majority of this assortment, but with so much of the value taken up with the jewelry case, I have some mixed feelings. Would it have felt more expensive if it wasn't "vegan leather"? Yes, absolutely. Was it arguably well made and thoughtfully constructed? Also yes. I will certainly use it, but I have a hard time assigning such a high value to it. The cuff was another item that I wasn't really crazy about, though it was undeniably giftable. The skincare/makeup and candle items are the ones I was the most excited about and I loved the vase so much more than I expected to. All in all, there was value here, though I would have liked to have seen another high-value item to offset the chunk taken up by the case and bracelet. It did feel like a "treat yourself" sort of box, which is exactly what I would expect from a more expensive subscription and I did enjoy enjoying it!
